Rating: Summary: Happy ending to a New Beginning Review: Quinten Parker has been through so much that he had basically given up on life and love. His mother left him and his sister when they were teenagers, and his sister and wife were both murdered. After going through all that he doesn't want to get close to anyone because he is afraid that he may lose them.Rae Lindsey has also had a hard time with life's ups and downs. Her husband and daughter were murdered, so she gives up on love and works hard in her music career. That is until she meets Quinten. After talking to Quinten, she is determined that they will be good for each other. And Q is fighting the feelings that he has for Rae because he is scared. I really enjoyed how Donna brought the story together. She didn't make it easy for Rae to convince Quinten to trust in love again. This was a nice closure for Quinten.
Rating: Summary: "Q" Happy At Last Review: Through The Fire by Donna Hiill is the journey of two people finding their way back to love. Musician Quinten Parker can't come to terms with his wife's death. His heart won't let him touch his piano, compose or find love. Tragedy seems to follow Quinten. He never knew his father, his mother left him and his sister to look after themselves when they were teenagers. When his sister is killed Quinten feels that he should have been able to prevent her death. Rae Lindsay has used her music to escape life and love ever since her husband and five year old daughter were killed three years ago. Quinten and Rae are kindred souls, they want to love again but don't know how and are afraid to tempt fate. When they meet, they are surprised by the attraction they feel towards each other. They are drawn together by mutual need and recognition that their feelings have to be dealt with either by coming together or never seeing one another again. With the guidance of Quinten's landlady who is his surrogate mother and Rae's girlfriend Gail, Quinten and Rae decide to give love a chance. But it's not easy, especially for Quinten. He has a young son he has not told Rae about, he just recently found out about Jamel himself. But he likes the idea of his son being in his life. He is still close to his ex-girlfriend Maxine. Maxine and Quinten haven't been together for years but he still feels "something" for her and is disturbed that happily married Maxine is pregnant. When Quinten's mother turns up and wants to be in his life again, he turns to Maxine instead of Rae because "that's what he has always done." Quinten and Rae bring a lot serious baggage to their relationship but fans of Quinn Parker get the sense that he is on the road to happiness at last."Through the Fire" is the perfect title for this novel. The Cover graphic is beautiful. Vannie(~.~)
Rating: Summary: What a wonderful ending Review: Through the Fire is a wonderful ending to a story that started with Private Affair and continued with Pieces of Dreams. I was disappointed that Pieces of Dreams ended with Quinn still in turmoil. But Through the Fire does take Quinn through the fire and turmoil to a love of a good woman Rae and a great relationship with his son Jamal and his son's mother Maxine. I was totaally blown away with the raw emotions that Quinn, Max and Rae showed throughout the book and how it all culiminated in a wonderful love story and happy ending for everyone. I loved this book.

Rating: Summary: Finally a Beginning..... Review: Through the Fire is what I affectionately call a three-quel, it's the sequel to a sequel. And if you've followed the story of Quinten Parker, you will embrace this story with open arms. Rae Lindsay is convinced that she will never love again, the tragic lost of her husband and her 5 year old daughter has left her cold and empty. She took refuge in the only thing that still brought her comfort; her music. Quinten Parker has existed for 3 years on good and bad memories. He too lost a wife to a tragic accident and he is unable to share himself with anyone, unable to embrace life, and unable to feel and he does not take refuge anywhere. What these two lost souls brought with them was not baggage, it was something worse, they brought guilt, insecurities and mistrust. They had both erected walls so high, scaling them was impossible. Their walls must come down, but how? This has been heralded a Romance read, but I beg to differ, it is a good human story about life and death; about fears and conquering; about love and forgiveness. I strongly suggest you read the stories that preceded Through the Fire, it will give you a better appreciation of the struggle. But this story will definitely stand firm on its on merit. Donna Hill is an excellent story teller, she has spun a story so heart wrenching, it will have you mesmerized as you watch the lives unfold. You will wonder if they can burn the past and rise from the ashes. An absolutely glorious read! Reviewed by aNN

Rating: Summary: I'LL GLADLY RISK IT ALL!!! Review: THROUGH THE FIRE to the limit to the wall, for a chance to be with you I'll gladly risk it all...THROUGH THE FIRE what ever come what may for a chance at loving you I'll taking it all the way...From the famous Chaka Khan tune befits the title chosen by Ms. Hill for the last installment in the life of the successful and talented Quinten Parker. This man's life has spanned three books. We first meet him in the book A PRIVATE AFFAIR. This is when we find out that his mother left him and his twin sister Lacy, then the twin later looses her life by a bullet. Quinn does find the love of his life Nikita Harrell. Then in PIECES OF DREAMS he looses Nikita and his world is turned upside down when he finds out his has a son by his childhood friend. Quinten finally finds happiness in Through the Fire. Rae Lindsay has had disaster in her life as well. She looses her husband and daughter in a shooting. Her life has never been the same. How do you live again after loosing to of the most important people in your life. Well Rae lived day to day. One day she meets Quinten Parker. She knew of him because he was a famous musician. She also knew of the loss of his wife Nikita. They had a lot in common. Quinten is attracted to Rae, but is trying to fight it. He feels that it just wouldn't work out. One of them would be hurt and he didn't want it to be him. Even though he told himself this, he still keeps coming around her. Be it at her apartment or at Encore at night club. THROUGH THE FIRE was such a great title for this book. Quinten definitely had been THROUGH THE FIRE. I am sooo glad Quinten finally found peace in the areas of his life. Rae needed to find peace also, but Quinten had a lot of things to put in perspective. He needed to realize that everything was not his fault and that forgiveness is a wonderful thing. I am glad Ms. Hill gave Quinten a happy ending. Please read these books in order to know why Mr. Parker is the way he is. PRIVATE AFFAIR, PIECES OF DREAMS, then read THROUGH THE FIRE.
Rating: Summary: Happy Closure for Quinten Parker!! Review: Well, it has been a long awaited book, Through The Fire, which is the final book to the sequels of A Private Affair and Pieces of Dreams. For those who have read the previous two, you will enjoy the whole 223 pages of this brief but wonderful story. Donna Hill has delivered us some closure for Quinten, after he lost his wife Nikita and found out he had a son in the last book. Most all of Donna's most loyal fans still felt empty at the conclusion of Pieces of Dreams, we felt that it just did not display our romantic end to a book. But, Donna Hill, allows us to feel that just like in real life, the book illustrated sometimes, its all about timing. It just was not Q's (that's what he's called) time to find real love in Pieces of Dreams. There was still much healing that needed to take place. But this long awaited closure book called, Through The Fire, is the appropriate title for what both the hero, Quinten Parker and the heroine, Rae Lindsay must endure before finding what we can say God intented to take place between the two of them. As you read this book, you feel the pain Q endures as he still deals with the loss of his wife, sister and mother and the impact it has on every single thing within his life. Oh, sure he functions and moves through his daily life, but at the cost of such an empty feeling. Rae, on the other hand had been dealt some heavy duty losses also, and she of course in her own way deals differently than Q but somehow, the similiarities in their past has such a connecting force that it draws them together. All of these if you read the story closely, and place yourself in one of these roles, you begin to feel the story as you're reading it. I for one did, and having experienced the loss of a love one, I surely have had first-hand training on the dymnamics that must take place in one's life to move on and be in a position to accept love all over again. And my folks, it anin't an easy task. So, Donna, thank you for this easy, smooth reading that I truly enjoyed. I wish you nothing but continued success in both the romance and mainstream genres. Looking forward to Rhythms.... Here are some of my other favorite Donna Hill books: A Private Affair, Pieces of Dreams, Scandalous, Indiscretions, Intimate Betrayal, If I Could* (*her first mainstream fiction),Charade, Chances Are, Quiet Storm, Temptation and Deception.
