Summary: Satisfied by "Satisfy My Soul"
Review: Last Summer,I was fortunate to be present at a reading from "Satisfy My Soul" by Colin Channer as he prepared to launch this book. I was immediately hooked and the book had not been released yet.

With "Satisfy My Soul",Mr. Channer proves that he is no one hit wonder. In this, his sophomore effort, he weaves an intricate and delectable tale of love and passion all the while exploring themes of religion, spirituality, friendship and mortality.

This stunning book kept me enthralled. I found the characters at once compelling, well realized and believable.I cared about what happened to them.

Mr. Channer's real strength lies in his ability to place the reader in the context of the moment. He achieves this through his ability to create uncanny physical descriptions. We also get a real sense of what each character is experiencing and feeling as they evolve with the story.

This book will keep you turning each page as you journey with the characters to it's powerful conclusion.

Summary: My Soul is Satisfied
Review: Colin Channer thrusts you into a whirlwind of experiences that test your spiritual mettle. If you didn't believe in reincarnation before, you're bound to get off this ride wondering if life after death is possible.

This story is about more than just religious inquest, it's about spiritual memory. It's about recalling a past, our past, in a way that opens us up to our true self. It's about intellectually and emotionally recapturing our history and our traditions, and reclaiming our ancestry and our gods. Who we are as blacks today is the dream, who we were yesterday is the reality. Channer asks that we stop drinking from the wine of what we have been taught and become sober to what we once were. Through Carey and Francis he has developed a work of literature filled with symbolism, subtle parables and magic, and love that spans millenniums.

This is a read that will leave you reeling long after you've placed the book on the nightstand. I was given many more things to ponder and they were thankfully transforming. Channer has effectively put into words what my spirit has been yearning to express for many years, possibly for hundreds of years.

Summary: Satisfy My Soul
Review: A man sees a woman's face on a screen, and he never forgets her. To say that "Satisfy My Soul" is a novel about the relationship betweeen a man and a woman would be overly simplistic. In his second novel, Colin Channer tells the story of a relationship that spans time and space. Channer is compelling in his mastery of the English language, both in terms of descriptions so vivid that one can almost see, hear, and feel them, and the power which with he uses words to evoke emotion or response in the reader. "Satisfy My Soul" can be best described as complex, mystical and erotic. It is a story about recognition, acknowledgment, and exploration of the relationship between a man and woman - two souls who have been joined together for hundreds of years. Interwoven into the relationship, are questions that give rise to thoughts about African Traditional Religion and Christianity, and the impact each has had on the other. The ending of this book is not open and shut. One may wonder if Channer will ever pick up the pen to continue the intriguing mystery that is the relationship between the souls. This reader certainly hopes that it is a possibility.

Colin Channer is an author whose career I definitely plan on following. His novel and short stories thus far are extremely well thought out and skillfully executed. If you want a quick superficial read, then Channer's work may not be for you. However, if you want to read an author who weaves a story of many layers (romantic, pragmatic, tough, angry, sweet, sad, lonely...etc), then Colin Channer's work is for you. Also, if you haven't read Channer's "Waiting In Vain," I would highly recommend that you do, It is completely different from "Satisfy My Soul," but equally as riveting, which just goes to show you the versatility of this author. Have I said enough? Thank you.

Summary: Satisfy My Soul Is Satisfying Reading.
Review: ..Okay, this was a deep book...very deep. It was about religion, sex, politics, and obsessive love. The relationship between the two main characters is why the phrase "soul mates" was invented.
I was surprised how much I thought about this book after I put it down...in a sort of haunting way. I recommend this book if the reader is ready for something deep...sometimes disturbing..and incredibly sexy.

Summary: Sexual- Intriguing & Heartfelt
Review: I've always thought of Colin Channer as a complex writer, until I got so engulfed into the book that I couldn't put it down. This book is so sensual that the characters, Carey & Nazia, make you wish you were a fly on the wall. Carey reminds me of a free spirit, wandering through life, conquering and enjoying the things that comes within his graps. Carey sorta slowed down in this book. Especially when it came to women. That was until he met Nazia. From Colin's first book, Nazia seem to been the closest thing to a 4-course meal for Carey. Her mysteriousness, brutness, honesty and sexuality keeps Carey craving for more. This book also went into details about Carey's life. What he was like as a child to his adult life. His best friend Kwabena, and the thin line that separated their friendship. Kwabena was jealous of Carey, yet valued his friendship enough not to express his ill-feelings toward Carey until the end. Carey also allowed his desire for women to kill his soul therefore causing a deadly chain of events.

The book is wonderful and well written. Colin Channer writting allows you to see yourself as those involved. Please pickup his first book-Waiting in Vain in order to enjoy this one and understand the characters.

Summary: Can't wait
Review: I've just picked up my copy of Colin's new book and I cannot wait to read it! I know that I'll be happy with whatever he delivers as I believe I may have read every published piece he's written!

I know "Satisfy My Soul" will be fabulous!

Summary: Colin Channer Does It Again
Review: Once again Mr. Channer brings us his style of brisk narrative, celebrating past, present and future, flowered with sumptuous metaphors reeking of exotic foods and erotic sex. Reader journeys with the main characters as they explore existentialist challenges with naked honesty and curious zeal. This is a must for anyone of the disapora seeking to reestablish balance with their past and present.

Summary: Surrendering to the sublime
Review: The writing was smooth. I think Mr. Channer writes like a woman which is the highest compliment I could give a writer. His writng has the same "I don't know what it is " quality of a E. Lynn Harris or Bebe Moore Campbell. I average about a book a week and would so recommend lovers of words to pick it up. My intent now is to go back and purchase other books of his. It was a comfortable book yet without insulting your intelligence. There were time when I had to make myself stop reading as I was caught up in the poetry of his words. I have already referred this book to other readers to enjoy. Bravo Colin!

Summary: sensually satisfying
Review: Satisfy my soul is an excellent piece of fiction. It creates within the discerning reader a cognitive dissonance that forces her [or him] to examine the premises of existing beliefs [religious, familial, sexual] and practices. A must read for anyone who appreciates a mental challenge and indulges in sensual experiences.
