Summary: A book that changed my life
Review: SATISFY MY SOUL is the kind of work that stays with you. It gets under your skin. It gets into your blood. At 243 pages it is small, but its achievements are huge.

It is sexy. It is frightening. It is lyrical. It is challenging. It is maddening. It is sweet. It is nasty. It is honest. It is transformative.

The writing is spectacular. It sings. The story is compelling. You cannot put it down. On the merit of language and story alone SATISFY MY SOUL is a spectacular achievement, setting Channer apart from the people he is often unfairly compared to ... E. Lynn Harris, Eric Jerome Dickey, Omar Tyree. By the way the comparison is unfair to them and not to Channer.

But the real achievement of SATISY MY SOUL is its originality. It deals with the issue of the middle passage in a way that makes that distant experience not just real but relevant. Its characters are drawn with depth and clarity. You know them. You talk to them. You worry about them. You get angry with them. You admire them. You want for them. You come to feel as if you know them in intimate ways, like friends and lovers from your very own life.

This novel's mix of eroticism and spirituality brought me lasting satisfaction. I have been changed for life.

Summary: A satified reader
Review: This book captured me with initial whimsy and took me on a journey that left me not only satified but exhausted--exhausted in a good way, like after good sex, sex in which all the senses were engaged. The rhythm compelled me forward while the characters kept me entranced. At the end I wished for additional pages not because I was not happy but because I wanted to stay with and satisfy Carey' soul. Mr Channer has a history of writing well defined characters (Waiting In Vain). His use of dialogue to pull you along the story's path is brilliant. Thank you Mr. Channer for a wonderful journey.

Summary: Outstanding
Review: Colin Channer is a master of description. He knows his art and has fine tuned it. The plot was not one that would have interested me had it been written by any other author. I read the novel because I like Channer, not because I found the story line terribly interesting. I am happy to have read it. It was captivating and believable. Carey, the main character, is so human in his flaws. I love the novel because of the author's writing skills as well as the vivid scenery painted and the intensity of it all. The most important parts of the novel took place in a very short span of time and in that time, we got to know the characters intimately. No one can write like Colin Channer. It is an incredible shame that although the NYT is sure to acknowledge his work, it won't get the mainstream publicity that it deserves. Mr. Channer, never stop writing, you have found your niche.

Summary: C. Channer Is A Wonderfully Well Versed Descriptive Writer
Review: I had the pleasure of purchasing this book and I am very pleased I did. I once read a book by Toni Morrison who's words leaped off the pages and touched me in ways I've never experienced. Well after reading this book I must say having the gift to embellish with ornamental writing is an amazing way to invite a readers soul to a world of imaginative expression. Good job Colin Channer I look forward to seeing you at one of your book signings here in Southern California hopefully in the near future.

Summary: "Crossing paths once again . . ."
Review: Colin Channer's Satisfy My Soul is the story of two
lovers, Carey McCollugh and Frances Carey, who just
can't seem to get it right. Told from the perspective
of Carey, this novel explores the intricate ways of
life, especially love and spirituality, for those of
African Caribbean descent. No tradition or food is
left out as the reader is given the tragic story of
Carey and Frances trying to find their path to love
via obstacles like religion, African heritage/roots,
and other minor personality clashes that come along
the way.

From their onset, Carey and Frances are anything but
simple characters. However, they are equals to each
other when it comes to the arena of "lovin' 'em and
leavin' 'em," when it comes to how they've treated
their previous partners. Like many couples, the
subject of religion serves as a touchy issue for them,
but by the end of the novel, none of that matters.
Kwabena, Carey's best friend, proves to be a major part
of the climatic ending, which ironically, is the
source of Carey's introspective outlook throughout the
novel.

As a woman of African descent living in America, there
were various aspects of the book that I could relate
to. After all, love is suppose to be a universal
subject, but some of the Caribbean slang was difficult
for me to translate for a true understanding of some
of the "inside jokes" that were depicted on the pages.
I would recommend this work of fiction to any reader
looking for an in-depth, poetic novel on
Afro-Caribbean love. If you're a die hard romance
fanatic, this book will more than appease you due to
numerous graphic love scenes.

Summary: lost his soul recently to a tragic loss of friend or relativ
Review: This book was written by someone under stress. The publishers where in a hurry to have a new book by the author. I believe they should have waited or really read the book it has no soul the book is someone trying to finish a term paper without there heart in it. Only a objective mind that do not deal with the real world can find this book interesting.

Summary: Excellent, captivating, "train" reading novel.
Review: Colin captured the sensuality of loving someone with his descriptions of the love between Carey and Frances that made you want to fall in love a million times. Yet, he shows what a persons flaws can eventually do to them and the people they love. Karma...at it's best. Thank you Colin, you are truly a gifted writer.
