Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A sizzling sequel to the de Montforte family saga Review: Both the bride and the groom had vowed never to marry, but a few drops of an aphrodisiac invented by Andrew left Celsie thoroughly compromised (or was it the other way around?) and marriage was the only option. Although Andrew found himself beginning to like the idea of being married to Celsie, he knew that she would despise him when she found out the truth about him. Celsie found herself falling in love with her handsome new husband, but knew that whatever horrible secret he was keeping from her had the potential to destroy their marriage.Although this is the first book I have read by Danelle Harmon, it is apparently the third part of a series of romances involving the de Montforte family and their matchmaking duke of a brother, Lucien. (Reminds me a great deal of the Malloren family saga by Jo Beverley.) This book had me so spellbound I could hardly put it down! I'll be looking for more books (past and future) by this talented author!

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A wonderful blend of amour, angst and humor. Review: Danelle Harmon's at the top of her game in her latest addition to the de Montforte saga. When last we saw Andrew, he was in his ill-fated flying machine with his brother Charles, winging from the fire that ruined his laboratory and sent noxious fumes into the air, the aftereffects of which play a major part in The Defiant One. Oh yes, and we again have Lucien, Duke of Blackheath--matchmaker extraordinaire--at his meddlesome, obnoxious best. (Ms. Harmon promises that Lucien will get a proper comeuppance in The Wicked One, due in January, 2001 & I eagerly await seeing him meet his match.) If all this were not enough, The Defiant One offers something for those who are animal lovers ( Our heroine, Celsie, is a woman far ahead of her time in her cause against the abuse of animals), a discovered-by-accident aphrodisiac that has half the country after it, and enough humor to have kept me chuckling in all the right places. I've read every one of Danelle's books, starting with her first, Pirate in My Arms, and The Defiant One adds another jewel to her literary crown. Ms. Harmon just keeps getting better and I can't recommend this book highly enough.
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: Defiant One? Review: I have to say this book disappointed me somewhat. I guess I just expected more. I found it a little hard to fall for the dark hero, Lord Andrew. Maybe I just like my heros to be a little less brooding and a little more charming. True, Celsiana livens things up a bit, but again, it was hard for me to sympathise with her. I just couldn't seem to get involved in their lives and the plot was just a little much for me to believe. I did however enjoy the scenes with Lucien, Andrew's cunning and very manipulating brother! I'd very much like to read more about him. THE DEFIANT ONE is the 3rd book in the de Montforte series, but of course, I didn't realize that when I started reading. As I haven't read the first 2 books, THE WILD ONE and THE BELOVED ONE, perhaps that would make all the difference. As it stands right now, I can't say that this is my favorate book by Danelle Harmon.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: This is the best of books Review: I must say this is a great book it was wonderful and funny. Many people have complained that they have not read the first 2 and so this is confusing or such. Well I feel that this book carries it own. There is no need to read the others if you don't want to because this book tells a little about the other two.But I sugjest you do anyways because they are excellent. Ms. Harmon is an excellent writer. I have Read the wild on and the beloved one and they are both great books First the wild Lord Gareth and Juliet then the beloved Lord Charles and Amy(both women are americans) and now the defiant Lord Andrew and Lady Chelesana. it was funny from the first moment and romantic to the last. I would give this book and its brother books 8 stars if I could. I can't wait for the last book about The Wicked Duke of Blackheath. READ IT! is all I can say
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A delicious romance Review: In 1777 England, Lord Andrew de Monteforte shuns polite society ever since the fire that destroyed his health as well as his tolerance for simpering maidens. Andrew hides in his laboratory inventing things including accidentally creating an aphrodisiac. Andrew's older brother Lucien worries about the changes in his sibling's personality since the blaze. He marches physician after physician to look at his sibling, but Andrew scorns every one of them. When canine lover Lady Celsiana learns from Lucien that Andrew is experimenting on animals, she decides to confront the maniac in his lab. Instead, Celsiana is ushered into Andrew's bedroom where they are caught in what is obviously a set-up compromising position. Though both are loath to marry, they agree they must wed. As they fall in love, a nasty villain will murder anyone who tries to stop his efforts to steal Andrew's love potion. Book three in Danelle Harmon's de Montefort siblings series is an entertaining, often times jocular Georgian romance that lives up to its predecessors standard of excellence. The story line is fun and breezy due to the interplay between the lead duet. At times WC Fields will come to mind as the animals steal the show from their human pets. Fans of a humorous historical romance will savor the story of the DEFIANT ONE and impatiently wait for the conclusion starring the Machiavellian WICKED ONE. Harriet Klausner
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Defiantly Fantastic Review: It's been a little while since I was so engrossed in a bookthat I could not put it down. Happily enough The Defiant One was oneof those books. Celsie and Andrew the main characters in this rich story line are a well matched pair and the way that those two get together is fantastic. He is a inventor who accidentally invents an aphrodisiac and well ... you just have to read it. All I have to say is that I usually skip sex scenes in romance novels because they are too contrived and boring but this was waaay steamy. They are also both charminlgy vulnerable and it was truely wonderful to watch them become friends and lovers. The only complaint that I have about this book is that there are two books before it, in the de Montforte saga, and the first book in that saga, The Wild One, is out of print. I know, waaa. This is a must read book that I hope is part of a must read series. It does have at least one book left in the series, slated to come out in January of 2001. I can not wait for it to be released.

Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: Just not believable Review: Ms. Harmon is an excellent, witty, and creative writer, but honestly, I could not get through the first three chapters of this book. First off, I don't believe there is such a "love potion" like this one that really exists, and it bothered me the way the two main characters were thrown together in totally compromising and lustful situations constantly. To me it was unreal, the potion having that kind of effect on real humans, and then having them behave that way. It could have been written with a little more tact. I read the "Beloved One" and it was a charming tale, but I just couldn't keep myself from putting this one away. It's just not believable.
