Summary: A DEFINATE PAGE TURNER
Review: Michael Presley's tale of BlackFunk is an absolute must read. No home library should be without it!! Drama that will have you up until wee hours of the morning turning pages. I particularly like how Michael takes you from scene to scene in the blink of an eye keeping his readers intrigued, amazed and on the edge of their seat. His characters are definately mainstream. Just when you thought you couldn't take it anymore......Along comes BFII. Rashaun the strong, beautiful, black brother who has it all together, remains steadfast and committed to his queen Andria. George, who finally realizes it's not all about the
p----!! Kim the nasty heifer who is determined to get what she wants and how she wants it!! I wouldn't hesistate to pick-up my copies.

Summary: Now I know ....
Review: Now I know somewhat Blackfunk is. When I first started reading
BlackFunk I was curious why title it Blackfunk?

This was a very interesting read which gave me an insight to what Blackfunk is really about.

Having read the first few chapters of the story I really thought I had a 5* read . Andria and Raushaun's past was very interesting and I could hardly put the book down at times. Then it took a turn for the least. Being the trip to Grenada with Mr. and Mrs. Persaud.
This is when I lost some interest, Then when I heard the actual Blackfunk experience I regain interest again . Especially listening to Tyrone and what happened to Paula my interest was up again until the end.

Sometimes I would get lost in the storyline trying to figure out who and what was going on.

I will admit it was a very steamy, sometimes arousing erotic story which I loved those parts.

Now having read the first book I am not sure if Blackfunk gets any better?
I might give it another try.
Perhaps book two is better.

Black funk was not a bad book I just hope it would have been better.
Michael this one I'll give 3.5*

Good but just not all that I had hoped from the synposis.

Summary: This book is CRAP!!!
Review: OK--I give any author credit for actually writing a book. But don't pass off your first draft as a piece of literature. Typos, spelling errors and grammatical mistakes are abundant. I can appreciate self-publishing but every word processing program comes with spell check. Use it!

The idea of Blackfunk as an aggressive sexual act designed to inflict excrutiating pain and tissue damage, to the point of death, is ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. The whole concept is preposterous. I like Rashaun and Andria as two people finding each other, releasing their demons, and trying to build a life together amidst the backdrop of contemporary Black love. That's fine. Give me that story. Not this convoluted storyline based on the premise of destructive sex.

Finally, do not write a book with a BS ending, only to attach an equally poorly written excerpt of the sequel, to entice me to read the next book. Write a complete novel the first time.

Summary: The Bomb!
Review: The book was the bomb. It's content was so real I felt that I was one of the characters. It kept me going from begining to end that I read it in seven hours. I actually got a taste of Grenda in the book as well..... I loved it and recommending it to everyone I'm bumpming into....

Summary: A funky pageturner
Review: The steamy excerpt had me calling the bookstore to order this one because I couldn't wait to read more. The book is definitely a pageturner.

Pageturners excite readers - leaving us salivating, wide-eyed, or just too curious to sleep. As I stayed up in the wee hours to read "Blackfunk", I laughed at the trifling drama from beginning to end, and found some of the characters interesting, especially Paul the pipe layer:-). Though I wasn't looking for more sex, I was enticed by the well-written drama of the first chapter and kept expecting the subsequent chapters to be as engaging.

Andria and Rashaun, are drained from the drama of their past and have decided to move on with their lives. After much time, they meet and become friends. As their relationship grows, so does their trust in one another. The author introduces some weird characters who add spice to this hot book, but the seasoning did not help me digest the story.

The story lacked cohesiveness at times, and it's less than 200pp. When I reached the end, I was disappointed that the non-stop drama lead to a dead end. There was way too much drama and too many loopholes for such a short book. While the book may intrigue those who enjoy S&M practices, I was just looking for an interesting, well-written erotic drama. I felt like I was instead watching one of those bad 'flicks' with no plot.

"Blackfunk" is not a bad book... just a hot one that did not quench my insatiable appetite for a good, interesting story.

Summary: WHOA????
Review: The title and the cover grabbed me. It's slow in the beginning I guess it's the introduction. OH MY BLACKFUNK???? The meaning is WHOA???? This book has you asking yourself is this for real? The typos are so perturbing, it's hard to get lost in a book where you're trying to figure out was this the word the author wanted to use! It's an interesting book, it has a sequel that gets a little hotter.
