Summary: Good effort, but . . .
Review: I bought this book because my co-worker raved about it, and I thought the title was enticing. When I read the book however, I was disappointed because there were so many grammatical errors and typos it was disappointing (Did the writer have an editor read a copy before publishing?). In addition the concept of a woman dying from being(oversexed)for the lack of a more appropriate word, is mythological. I must give props to the author for even writing this book, as well as publishing it himself. If you don't mind reading a mediocre book, by all means buy this book, however, if you're looking for something substantial, with solid characters and plot that will hold your attention please look elsewhere.

Summary: Like Whoa......
Review: I enjoyed reading Blackfunk. It was the funkiest book I have read in a long time. My eyes were glued to the pages. It was refreshing to see a "Player" (Rashaun) have the maturity to know that there is more to life than p_ _ _ y and it is never too late to find the right one.

Summary: Right On Target
Review: I got interested in Blackfunk after I saw several persons at my workplace reading it. When I began to read my copy, I realized that it was extremely hard to put it down. Blackfunk examines several issues which are prevelant in the Caribbean American community that were never addressed previously. While these issues are expressed with wit and humor, the writing style is clear and can be understood by readers of all walks of life. The story is well developed and brings life to many everyday issues which are the topic of private late night conversations between "the girls" or after a good work-out at the gym for "the guys."

Summary: Being Black Funked
Review: I read Black Funk I in a day. The story was deep, although there were some profanity. You had to get pass all the cursing and the sex to understand the story. My Bookclub just finished reading Black Funk II , that answered most of the lingering questions. We were fortunate to have Michael at our meeting.

Ladies, the man could be Rashun twin. He is tall, dark, handsome, intelligent and down to earth. I would reccommend that all black males and females read this book. You need to know if you are being blackfunked or are you having some "ruffff sex." The most excting part for me was when Andria and Rashun went through the cleansing. We have to let go of our past to live for our future.

Summary: Interesting!
Review: I was intrigued by the excerpt that I read on the author's website so of course I hurried to order the book. However, in my initial reading of the novel I found the story was fraught with typos and errors with the characters and timeline sequences. So for me it was quite frustrating. In fact, I put this book down several times before I finally finished it. (I had to put it down when the character defines "Blackfunk".)

The story revolves around the two main characters as they embark on a relationship. The author gives us a glimpse into their past to understand why being in a relationship for these two is difficult. When the main male character must represent his friend in a case of "Blackfunk" that is when the reader doesn't want to stop reading.

The beginning leaves a bit to be desired, however, near the end the pace picks up and the drama increases. I found it hard to put the book down once I got near the end. However, most readers don't tough it out to find out if a book is worth reading. If the book has problems in the beginning, most readers will put the book down to never pick it up again. In this case, it will be unfortunate because the ending is wonderful and makes the reader look forward to the sequel.

Summary: The bomb....
Review: I was very much impressed with the book, because It spoke to the heart. THe author did a fascinating job depicting the characters and the readers themselves based on their life experiences somewhat became the story.

Summary: Erotic
Review: It was very very very hot and highly exciting. After finishing the book my husband and I have been having sex daily using different positions and places. I think Mr. Preshley is a very gifted and knowledgeable author. Is he thinking of writing another book? I can't wait. I've recommended this book to a lot of my friends and co-workers. Good luck!!!!

Summary: Raw, Provocative and Uncut!!!
Review: Michael Presley's debut novel "Black Funk" will take you into a world full of seduction, envy and love. Be prepared to receive a lesson and learn the true definition of "Black Funk."

The main characters Rashaun and Andria have many things in common. Both have successful careers, a love for life and baggage from previous relationships.

Rashaun, a handsome and successful lawyer at a prestigious law firm has a surplus of women, friends and a mother that he loves unconditionally, but his life is seemingly still empty. What he wants and needs is a good woman, but after his last failed relationship, which ended as a result of "Black Funk" can any woman regain his trust? To make matters worse his friends tell him day in and day out that all women are trifling and should never be trusted. Besides, how can you fully experience "Black Funk" if you are in a monogamous relationship?

Andria's past relationship leaves her with emotional scarring. After catching her ex-boyfriend in an uncompromising position she has a mental breakdown. After months of recuping her friends convince her to get back into the swing of things. One night while hanging out with her girls she spots a handsome man that could possibly be Mr. Right, but does Mr. Right really exist? According to Andria's friends who don't necessarily believe in Mr. Right, but will settle for "Mr. Right Now" have their doubts from the very beginning about her new friend, Rashaun.

Andria and Rashaun enter into a relationship that holds great promise with enormous skepticism. An opportunity arises for them to take a trip to the beautiful and aromatic island of Grenada. This trip forever changes their lives as they learn acceptance, self-love, inner-peace and redemption.

Rashaun's friends who believe in "find, tackle, conquer, and moving on" continue to see woman after woman and take "Black Funk" one step too far. Once you walk through the door of "Black Funk" and experience all it's pleasure is their really any turning back?

Black Funk is definitely a pageturner and a must read. It will capture your attention with the first line and keep you wanting more after you complete the last!

Summary: Sexily Off the Hook
Review: Michael Presley's debut novel had so much good stuff going on, I don't know where to start. First the term BlackFunk, from my understanding originated in the West Indies and it references a certain kind of ..., ump! And with that said; this book brought issues about: relationship, friendship, eroticism, ..., infidelity, self esteem, and love. Now that I have your interest, let me start at the beginning. Andria leaves work with chills and a fever, wanting to crawl between her sheets, but when she gets there she finds her soon to be fiance in her bed with another woman. After she throws him out, she tries to take herself out.

Rashaun 'Blacky' Jones, earned his nickname because of his complexion. He has hated it and has hurt because of it, all his life. A self made man, he struggled and won, he is a sucessful attorney and he's in love. He's ready to take his relationship to another level. While rummaging through his girlfriend's dresser to plant his surprise, he finds a tape labled 'Blackfunk' and guess who has the starring role? Hurt and betrayed, he now has one goal in mind and he programs himself to accomplish it.

Andria and Rashaun meet unplanned, on three different occasions so against the vows they made to themselves, they decide to stick their toes back in the water.

The cast of characters sharing this book were colorful additions who added just the right mix to the story.

This book will excite you, eroticize you, overwhelm you, and introduce you to some West Indies' style cleansings. But it will not bore you. I applaud Michael's efforts in adding an interesting twist to this sexy tale.
