Summary: If you ARE a fan of the genre, check this book out!
Review: Another FUN book from Craft! I loved watching Carly and Max fall in love before they even knew what was happening...I can relate because I was in denial about my first real love (and now husband!). I think that's what I like about Melanie Craft's books the most...they portray female characters that I can relate to--feminine, forgiving, sometimes naive--but also women with a strong sense of self and sexiness. If you are a romance fan, I promise you'll burn through this one and finish with a smile on your face! If you aren't a romance fan...hmmm...then why are you reading these types of books?

Summary: made me smile! Recommended.
Review: I bought this because I read the author's first book last summer and liked it a lot. This one is longer, and it was a great read! I didn't think it was light, like some other readers did. The hero had a troubled past with an alcoholic mother and foster homes, which he overcame to become a successful businessman. My favorite subplot was the section about the homeless teenager Edie, and how the hero uses his own experience to talk sense to her when the heroine can't. Carly (the heroine) was very nice (more than I would be!!!) but she had a strength in dealing with the hero that made me respect her and really believe that love can win in the end. Parts of this book like Carly's crazy family, and the stories about the animals and their personalities, made me laugh! I really liked this book a lot. People who want a tough sassy heroine probably won't, but it made me happy.

Summary: Loved it...couldn't put it down!
Review: I read this book straight through. It was pretty "light" and only took me a couple of hours, plus I was totally involved in the characters. I finished the story with a great feeling! Max is a sexy hero (if you like the dark and brooding kind, which I do, okay, okay...) Watching him loosen up and find his sense of humor is really fun. There is a light but believable subplot of suspense, and some very sweet and funny humor scenes that made me wish there were more. I look forward to this new author's next book!

Summary: A Different Perspective
Review: I was surprised by the words from the reader from Palo Alto, and wanted to give my own perspective (I am an older reader) about this book. I did not find Carly Martin to be a damsel in distress at all. The hero did save her physically once, in the end, but it seemed to me that she spent the book trying to save him emotionally, in my belief a harder job. I do agree that she has a way of seeing the world through rose-colored glasses, and has a tendency to trust others too much, which caused her to make some foolish mistakes. This did not bother me, because I have never liked "perfect" heroines, as I find them admirable but not believable. Carly Martin's flaws caused problems for her, but they also balanced and explained her resilience and her ability to provide the steady love that finally broke through the hero's defenses. Rather than insulting women, I thought that this book was a lovely tribute to the strength of family love and a woman's heart.

Summary: Loved it! Read it straight through
Review: It only took me a couple of hours to get through this book. It was a quick read, but I totally loved the characters, and I finished the story with a great feeling. Max Giordano is a sexy hero (if you like the dark-and-brooding-with-a-heart-of-gold type, and I do...) Watching him loosen up and find his sense of humor is really fun. There is a light but engrossing suspense subplot, and some very funny humor scenes that made me want more. I look forward to this new author's next book!
(I posted this review earlier, but it never showed up. Sorry if this is a duplicate!)

Summary: sweet, modern, fresh romance.
Review: it was a quick read, but very uplifting and sweet. made me dream a little... I liked the humor and the animals. I hate romances that take themselves too seriously. Well, actually I hate people who take themselves too seriously. Life is short! Enjoy it while you're here! Relax a little, and do so with this great book!

Summary: I thought it was a really good book!
Review: It was full of everything I love best. Mystery, romance, and pets!
I was sucked into the story instantly in the beginning, stimulated and suspended throghout the middle, and surprised by the ending, I can't wait to read what's coming next from this great new author.

Summary: NEW AUTHOR - EXCELLENT
Review: Max Giordano accuses veterinarian Carly Martin of fleecing an old man, his grandfather Henry. His accusations shock her, but not as much as when he informs her that Henry lies in a coma after a near death fall. Max states that Henry named her as trustee to his 23 animals and the mansion if she converts it into a clinic as they once discussed. Carly tells Max he was never there for Henry whom he never met and she often visited. Carly thinks back in time to when she met Henry. He asked for a house call to check out his ailing raccoon. They became friends and she comes over once a week to check the animals and to chat.

Max begins to wonder if he misjudged Carly. She seems nice and innocent and he is so attracted to her yet new evidence surfaces that prove that someone tried to murder Henry. Carly is the obvious suspect as she has motive (inheritance) and opportunity (her vehicle at the scene).

Though the heroine is too perfect and the lead male becomes irritating at times with his "J'accuse" mentality, readers will like both of them. The story line is fun to follow as Max cannot believe that Carly has no hidden agenda when it comes to Henry. Melanie Craft lives up to her surname as she provides a solid relationship tale with a touch of suspense at the end that sub-genre readers will enjoy especially those who value the canine caper crowd.

Summary: Don't Waste your Money
Review: My little sister insisted that I read this book because she though it was "cute." So I decided to humor her and got through this vapid book in less than 2 hours. If you are looking for something light, fluffy, and unsubstantial, this is the book for you. The quixotic Carly Martin seems like a "too good to be true" sap and Max Giordano is depicted as the stereo-typical successful businessman. This book has reconfirmed my belief that romance novels, especially one of this low caliber is a waste of my time and my brain cells. I looked up the author and saw that she has a successful businessman as a boyfriend and I can't help to wonder if he paid someone to publish this book for her.
