Summary: Nice -- good plot
Review: Good writing and nice character development, but I found the story itself a little weak and on the dull side. The book begins on a high note with Meg being kidnapped by her childhood sweetheart Alec. Both the kidnapping and their flight to Scotland was fast paced and highly entertaining. I loved Alec's boyishness and Meg's inability to resist his charm. The writing in the first 100 pages showed a lot of promise, but for me the story began to lose its punch when the pair reached Meg's childhood home in Scotland. The meeting between Meg and her father was flat and once Sir Robert tells his version of the supposed "dalliance" the weakness of the plot becomes apparent. I also thought that Meg gave in to the forced marriage a little too easily. All her father had to do was threaten a scandal and Meg meekly walked down the aisle and said, "I do". After the wedding, I found that the story lost a lot of its energy. There were no villains, no intrigue, and no true conflict between the characters.

All in all I would classify the book as average. It is worth reading, but don't put it on the top of your list.

Review: I liked this - my first Debra Dier book. I love the perspective coming from the man's side as well as the woman's. I wish more authors would write from the man's perspective.

At one point, I began to dislike the female characters. I lost most sympathy for them, but in the end, I am glad I stayed with the book. The male character made it all worthwhile.

Summary: Erotic, Extremely Romantic and Very Sexy
Review: Okay, so I absolutely LOVED this book. I thought the writing was clever, the dialogue funny, the plot convincing and the sex scenes amazing. MacLaren was the ultimate hero. Manly, virile, gorgeous and with a sexual appetite the size of Texas, he radiated sensuality, confidence and self-assuredness while underneath he hid a body scarred with wounds from war - compounded by an insecurity about the way his virgin captive would react when she saw them. Yet the lovemaking was so sweet! And so very, very HOT! I was practically drooling. I don't know if I've said enough about the plot to be helpful, but this is an awesome book. If you want to read something that will make you tear with its endearing, bitter-sweet dialogue, and make you get goosebumps during its passionate sex scenes, then you'll definately love this book.
