Summary: Romantic Times Review.
Review: 4 1/2 Stars, RT Top Pick!

"Captain Lynnette Blackthorne ranks right up there with Emerald and Serena as the boldest women pirates in romance. Readers who like their romance with a sea breeze, sexual tension on high, and rapier-sharp dialogue will adore THE MAIDEN'S REVENGE. Hillary Fields makes her mark with an unforgettable debut."

Romantic Times Magazine, February 2000 issue.

Summary: All Hail Hillary!
Review: A wild romp! It's so good to see such a strong showing from a first time author. Her dialogue and descriptions are breathtaking, pulling the reader into her world and making it a place we'd like to stay.

Summary: A RIPSNORTING GOOD READ
Review: Amazing! Just the other day, I was discussing with my friends the fact that there are so few good pirate novels. Then I discovered Ms. Fields delightful first novel. It was beautifully written and deliciously naughty. It made me feel like a Girl Scout all over again. It reminds me of the time I traveled cross country with my friend Mr. Bubbles, listening to our tape of Tibetan yak love songs...but I digress. Kudos to Ms. Fields!

Summary: Wow!
Review: I bought this book on a whim. I am usually pretty skeptical of publisher's reviews, but this time they were right on target! I find it hard to believe that this is the author's first book. Perhaps she has been writing under some other name?

Lynette and Daniel make a wonderful pair, very well-shaped. Often when you have a book with two narrators, one of them is not voiced as clearly, but that does not happen here. Both of them immediately draw you into their lives, and their schemes play off each other beautifully, with the reader able to see all. Great writing; it really makes you wriggle. Ms. Fields is no slouch as a historian, either; she's clearly done her homework to a greater extent than most writers. You can smell the tar on the ships right off the page, and this is far and away the best portrayal of the pirate world I've seen!

Summary: A Feminist Bodice Ripper!
Review: I really enjoyed this book! It is such a pleasure to have the heroine be the action hero - not that the guy is a slouch either. Two equally powerful characters face off against each other, and of course, find love in the end. The sex scenes are great, the historical aspects are interesting, the writing is good. All in all very enjoyable, well worth your time and money!

Summary: Pirate Heaven!
Review: I seem to be in pirate heaven this month! THE MAIDEN'S REVENGE by new author Hillary Fields reminds me again just how much I love a swashbuckler. And this time the pirate is a woman. Captain Thorne is the very beautiful Lynnette Blackthorne, as cold as steel, and a vengeful woman who is highly skilled and determined to destroy the man who murdered her sister and destroyed her father. No one will deter her from this purpose. Of course, we all know once we utter a statement like this there will be a man who will come along and try and tear down our defenses don't we? I have to say Ms. Fields couldn't have created a more superb specimen of manhood than that of Captain Daniel Bradley. The man is magnificent! He is tall, with thick black hair and silvery eyes, strong and lean, well spoken and with the manners and a gentleman.

Everything was proceeding according to plan with Captain Thorne until she captured Daniel and his ship and held him for ransom. She takes him to her island to await the ransom money. Daniel is determined to get the upper hand with the beautiful pirate queen for he's never back away from a fight yet. The two stubborn, strong willed captive and captor don't reckon with the volatile sexual attraction that flares up between them. Wow, this is one passionate adventure you don't want to miss! This is it, my lips are sealed, lock, stock and barrel. The only thing you can do is by buying this book to find out what I know-I'm ready for the next Hillary Fields novel. THE MAIDEN'S REVENGE is pirate heaven!

Suzanne "Oh, For A Month On No-Name Island With Daniel, No, Make That A Year!" Coleburn

"Hillary Fields is a fresh new voice that brings a heap of fire and sensuality to sizzle your senses, and enough treasure to fill ten pirate's chests to overflowing with THE MAIDEN'S REVENGE."

Summary: A GOOD EFFORT FOR A FIRST BOOK!
Review: I thought the book was really sexy and steamy. For once, the pirate was the heroine. The only part of the book that did bother me was when the hero tied the heroine to the bed and then left her there overnight. What kind of hero would do that? Nevertheless, it was a good story.

Summary: Reads like a true classic!
Review: I will admit that I bought THE MAIDEN'S REVENGE purely because of the original storyline and cover art. I truly did not expect it to be as well written and to flow as smoothly. It felt as if I was reading a classic while I read of the adventures of Lynnette and Daniel. Have you ever been reading along and discovered that some part of a book sounds exactly like another? Well, that was not the case with THE MAIDEN'S REVENGE. It did, however, remind me of Gone With The Wind in the manner of the style of writing and the way that you feel like you are part of the storyline. THE MAIDEN'S REVENGE is much spicier than GWTW, though! I wouldn't mind being wrapped up with Captain Daniel Bradley! Whew, what a man! Ms. Fields delivers a tastefully, saucy, swashbuckling tale about a piratess and merchant who are captivated with being captivated with one another! This is one that I am glad that I didn't pass up...

Summary: Pirate's Romance at its best!
Review: I've always loved Pirate romances but unfortunately i have rarely find pirate romances who could really be satisfying. But this one is good - really good.

For a change the pirate is a woman and the captive a man. The dialogue between them is witty and the story is exciting and intriguing.Although i like Pirate romances , lately i had begun to get bored by them becouse they always follow the same line of story - dashing buccaneer abducts damsel etc. This time, its the WOMAN who abducts the man- refreshing change for a start. The way Ms Fields also describes the pirate world makes you feel almost as if you could view it - you feel transported back in time to that roguish world of cutlasses and rapiers.

Seeing that this is only Ms Fields first book i eagerly wait for her second and hope its as good as this or better! I recommend this book to whoever likes Pirate romances and who is also sick and tired if romances where the heroine is always a weake spineless creature!. Here Ms Fileds certainly does not disapoint. A must!
