Summary: Hot Diggity Dawg!
Review: "If Millie Rosenblatt hadn't bitten into that empty frankfurter bun without realizing the boiled meat had quietly slipped to the floor and rolled under the table, I might never have left my husband Stuie." And so begins Rhona's struggle to keep the proverbial meat in the bun of life. She is trapped, as we all are, in a set of assumptions surrounded by cultural expectations and self-imposed limitations. How she gets out is a paean to Lisa Doctor's natural storytelling ability and an intimacy with her heroine that only a veteran writer can achieve. I envy those who are about to read it for the first time. Our only hope is that Lisa Doctor is almost finished with her next novel.

Summary: Rhona Rocks!
Review: Doctor clearly knows her terrain--her voice is so real. All of the characters are people we recognize despite never having lived in her world. Doctor is a master. Is this really her first published novel? Are more on the way? Please?

Summary: A Universal Story of Self Discovery
Review: I completely related to Rhona and her personal struggle between doing what was expected and doing what was right for her. From the opening metaphor to the last words I was drawn in by this character and I found myself caring what happened to her. Ms. Doctor captured what it is like to be a young woman caught between being a dependent child and being an independent adult. Great job!

Summary: Irresistable...
Review: I fell in love with the character of Rhona and her spirited friend Rochelle. The realistic description of life in their neighborhood evoked my own memories of what it was like to grow up Jewish in Queens. Memories so vivid I could almost taste the chicken and rice dinner served at her wedding. This is a humorous book filled with unforgettable characters that warmed my heart. I could not put the book down until I found out just how life finally turns out for Rhona.

Summary: Read Rhona
Review: I loved this book and found Rhona's plight completely universal. It was such a page turner that I found myself running late when I didn't want to put it down. You will feel like you lived Rhona's life in Rhona's world while reading this book because of its startling authenticity. Do you think Doctor will give us a sequel?

Summary: Magic carpet ride back in time
Review: Literally brought me back to a more innocent and exciting time in my life. Every Jewish girls neighborhood, every young woman's conflict on love and sex in the 70's. Made me laugh and cry as I became Rhona in a time warp. I picked it up and couldn't put it down until I was done.
