Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Sexy, sweet, and passionate. . . Review: That's Sean MacNeill. And that also describes his story.I've read every one of Virginia Kantra's books since THE REFORMING OF MATTHEW DUNN, her first Intimate Moments in November 99. As far as I'm concerned, she is a phenomenally talented writer, whose work is as good as it gets in category romance -- and I'm sure there's a terrific career awaiting her in single title work as well. While not as complex, plot-wise, as her Rita-nominated THE PASSION OF PATRICK MACNEILL, superb characterizations and emotionally compelling prose makes SEAN no less enthralling a book. Rachel Fuller has more baggage than an airline terminal -- the widow of a man who killed himself rather than face his responsibilities, she's just moved from Philadelphia back to her mother's house in a small town in North Carolina with her two children, a gargantuan debt, and repeated threats from a small-time criminal family to whom her gambling-addicted husband owed a great deal of money. The last thing the beleagured woman needs is an insane attraction to her mother's 29-year-old boarder, an unemployed carpenter who wears T-shirts with sayings like "Carpenters Swing Big Tools". But there's a lot more to Sean MacNeill than a body to die for and a cocky attitude, and Rachel eventually finds herself wondering if she's finally "come home" at last. . . If you're looking for multi-layered, realistic characters; witty, realistic prose; a strong, expertly interwoven subplot that perfectly complements the love story; and love scenes that shimmer with emotion and passion without getting bogged down in unnecessary explicitness, you won't be disappointed in THE TEMPTATION OF SEAN MACNEILL. In fact, this jaded reader was actually teary at the end, just because it was sooooo good.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A Romance Lover's Meat-and-Potatoes Book Review: This book was fantastic, one I could sink my romance loving teeth into. To put it simply: A good old-fashioned love story. The story had characters I could sympathize with -- and in the heroine, Rachel, I fully identified with her reluctance to confide her problems to anyone, even her mother. Both Rachel and Sean exuded likeability and the author hooked me into their story from the first page. Rachel had good reason to be afraid for her and her children's safety and good reason not get anyone else involved. But through Sean's persuasive kindness and consideration, he earns the trust and love of Rachel and her children. Throw in sweet seduction, sizzling love scenes and moments of panic, mayhem and angst and you'll see why Ms. Kantra has become an auto-buy for future titles, and her back list now is part of my books to be read. Two scenes that stood out for me were Sean and Rachel, confronting each other in the kitchen and coming to terms with their feelings for the other and later, when Rachel gets her first introduction to the entire MacNeill family. The Temptation of Sean MacNeill is definitely Two Thumbs Up.

Rachel Fuller is running away from some baaad guys, along with her two children, and the only place she can go to is her mother's house. When she arrives early, however, she discovers a naked stranger in her bed. Sean MacNeill doesn't know what to make of the bossy, rude schoolteacher and her 2 bratty kids, he only knows that he wants her. Rachel is skeptical of Sean's motives - is he living off her mother? and it gets worse when he reveals he is now unemployed. Although he is hardworking at his craft (carpentry) it seems to Rachel her mother is being taken advantage of. Sean does prove he is more than some irresponsible jerk, and he realizes there is some threat looming over Rachel. In fact, her late husband owed a lot of money to the wrong people at the time of his suicide, and Rachel is in constant fear for her life and that of her family's. Little by little, Sean begins to earn Rachel's trust and convinces her that the attraction between them is nothing to be ashamed off. As their love grows, the bad guys put their plan into action and a showdown between Rachel and them takes place. Although Rachel comes off as a little haughty and arrogant, as more layers of her life are revealed it all makes sense. Sean, meanwhile, is a bad boy of the best kind, highly sensual and always making (or wearing) all sorts of suggestive remarks. This was an extremely well written book, I am sorry I have never read anything by Ms. Kantra before, but that is, happily, something I can remedy. I highly recommend this book.
