Rating: Summary: A Rose Without A Thorn Review: I have recently finished reading A ROSE WITHOUT A THORN by Marilyn Washburn and I am already longing for a sequel to this excellent piece of writing. The author has created a delightful and mesmorizing entrance into the essence of the social conditions and humanistic learning and being that prevailed in England during this facinating period of its history. The author has accomplished a fine story in blending thorough historical research and perspective with characters who are made alive in the details of their thoughts, desires, and actions, particularly in demonstrating dramatic personal relationships as well as weaving in England's relationships with other parts of Europe 500 years ago. Bone structures, dry moats, the kissing of a man's wife, flaws in the character of Henry VIII, the scandal of Christians at war with other Christians allow readers a deep look into the passionate zeal that defined a time that still captivates our minds today. We can only hope that Marilyn Washburn will share more of her own zeal in other books to come! In the meantime, this is a book to enjoy for its history, its character developments, its pronouncements on humans in place and time. Bravo! This is a powerful book.

Rating: Summary: A Rose with a Thorn Review: This book really takes you back in time to King Henry VIII. The characters are vivid and strong. I developed a sense of each characters personality and traits. The storyline and occurrences within the book are humorous at times and sensitive at others. I developed a sense of caring for several of the characters within the book, especially Lady Katherine. I am looking forward to a follow up novel from this author. I really enjoyed the time I spent reading this book.

Rating: Summary: IT WAS WONDERFUL!!!! Review: This book will capture you and sweep you away to another world. As I was reading, I could close my eyes and see the picture created entirely with words. I would highly recommend this book to anyone that enjoys reading. I am a person that typically only reads thriller/suspense novels and I would never choose anything involving history at all! I was amazed at how much I enjoyed this book, I could not put it down and normally only Steven King novels can do that. The author takes about 3-4 chapters to throughly set up the characters and once that is done, WOW. You will find yourself drawn right into King Henry VIII's Royal Court. The description and character development in this book leave you wanting to see it on the big screen.
