Rating: Summary: Could have been a five Review: "Return Engagement" is a good read. I really enjoy how Lynn Michaels not only creates memorable leading characters but also secondary characters as well. In this book, the whole family of Lindsay and members of her small home town are unforgetable. They add such depth to the story, and a lot of laughs as well. I must say though that the frequent use of vulgarity brought my rating down. The book would have been great without it. The story starts a little slow but is worth the ride once it gets going.

Rating: Summary: delightful contemporary romance Review: Hollywood agent Vivienne Varner finds former heartthrob Noah Patrick deciding whether to kill himself after he self-destructs his career with booze. However, she offers the former TV star, a second chance, which he accepts. Years ago Noah co-starred with Vivienne's daughter Lindsay Varner West on the popular show Betwixt and Be Teen. However, Lindsay hated it and left town. Now Lindsay's sister Jolie has persuaded her to perform in a play she wrote. Vivienne's plan includes Noah joining Lindsay on stage in a PR mega triumph of where are they now.Vivienne has a hidden agenda after years of playing the cold hearted bi*ch. She feels she owes Jolie who she ignored as untalented and wants to make it up to her by insuring her play and theater is a success. She feels she hurt Lindsay by pushing her into TV and she needs to help Noah regain his former self minus the booze because she needs to prove she is human. She also wants her beloved grandson to have two parents. Encouraged by the machinations of her relatives, Noah and Lindsay's RETURN ENGAGEMENT includes love, but the teen secret she hid from him makes a permanent relationship seem impossible. Readers will enjoy this delightful contemporary romance that focuses on redemption and second chances. The story line engages the audience as the lead couple and Vivienne seek to fix relationships. Though the teen tale has been used too often and adds some tension, it is an unnecessary sidebar. Still Lynn Michaels provides her audience with a strong novel that centers on mending fences as much as it does on love. Harriet Klausner

Rating: Summary: disappointed but not entirely unhappy Review: I have read the other online reviews and I have to say that I have a MAJOR complaint about this story..spoiler alert, don't read if you haven't read the book yet.
First of all, I really liked all of the characters, they were fun, entertaining and very well written.
The plot was good and the story was just fine but my one complaint was this...am I the only one that kept seeing all of the obvious clues that led up to the supposedly big revelation that Noah was Trey's dad?? I mean, come on, they were throughtout the entire book and I was not all surprised by this. This could have been a great climax to the story but instead it was just something that was so obvious that it wasn't even good when it was finally told in the theater. Please, next time you write a book with great characters and twists and turns don't leave so many clues to the twists and the story will be much more enjoyable. Thanks, an avid reader.
Rating: Summary: A Second Chance At Love! Review: I love stories that revolve around the storyline of a second chance at love. Ms. Michaels has created a wonderful little world filled with great characters that experience a whole range of emotions. The reader will throughly be engaged in this read from page one.
Lindsay West is a child star that is trying very hard to come to terms with all that this involves. She falls in love with her co-star Noah Patrick and after one night in his arms her heart is broken the next morning when she realizes that their night together is not remembered by Noah because he had been drunk. One night is all it takes to send Lindsay packing and heading back home to Missouri. Now years later she is running a book store with her cousin, she's a widow and raising a teenage son, and trying to get over the hurt of her stage mother, mother, and jealously of her sister Jolie. When she promises to do a play her sister wrote she has no idea that Noah is on his way to Missouri to play the male lead. What will she do when she is faced once again with her biggest mistake, and only love?
Noah has ruined everything in his life with one swig from a bottle. A recovering alcoholic he is learning the hard way that nothing comes easy or cheap. Hollywood is no longer looking his way and his options are truly running out. That is until his one and only nightmare Viviane shows up and offers him a deal he can't turn down. Star in her daughters play for six weeks and get his feet under him again and maybe, just maybe Hollywood would give him another look. He has no idea that his acceptance is going to change his life in ways he never thought possible.
Noah and Lindsay are wonderfully complex characters. They have both been hurt and have the internal scars to prove it. Lindsay and Noah's relationship is intense and built up slowly. As a result the reader will feel fully invested in how things proceed. It will also seem more real. Secondary characters such as Vivien, Jolie and the rest of the family are wonder additions to this engaging read. Ms. Michaels tackles all kinds of sensitive issues and does so with tack and understanding. This is one read I have no trouble recommending.

Rating: Summary: A Perfect 10 !!! Review: I loved this book. There were many positive things that added up to the perfect story. The hero, reformed bad boy Noah, was hit with a book, slapped, muddied and insulted repeatedly but still keep managed to keep his humor, coming out on top in the end. He is someone who will quickly win you over. It certainly was his story. The secondary characters were many, one of my favorites being the weatherman uncle who couldn't get a forecast correct. The dialogue flowed with many memorable one-liners that I loved, like Noah's line "that's it, we're voting her off the island" when speaking to Lindsay about her sister, Jolie's intolerable behavior. I certainly hope Lynn Michaels revisits the town of Belle Coeur again in a future book. If you liked Mother of the Bride, Return Engagement will be right up your alley. However, in my opinion Return Engagement was better.
Rating: Summary: A Perfect 10 !!! Review: I read Mother of the Bride and was waiting for this one to come out -- it's superb! Better than Mother of the Bride! I stayed up until 1:30 in the morning reading it: it was fresh, frank and sexy. Run to the store for this one!

Rating: Summary: One of the best books I've ever read Review: I've long been a Lynn Michaels fan. She has such creative additions that make her novels special and different. But she really put it all together in Return Engagement. With the crazy family--and the characters remain true to who they are which is a wonderful source of humor--and the twists and turns of love, this is my favorite Lynn Michaels' novel and one of the best books I've ever read. Yes, EVER read! This book is so rich and wonderful that it's like eating a thick, chocolate brownie filled with chocolate chips and white chocolate chips and M&M's and all sorts of delicious surprises. I enjoyed Mother of the Bride as well and am looking forward to many more wonderful books from this amazingly talented writer.
