Rating: Summary: Lovesong Review: Moments in Time is a lovely love story between a rock star, J.D. and Maggie, his wife of fifteen years. Their marriage is on the rocks after Maggie saw J.D. walking out of their hotel room shower with his former lover, Glory, trailing behind him.
A few days later, Maggie and J.D. were up for a television interview with a seasoned journalist, who was determined to break some news out of the meeting with rock n' roll's celebrity couple. J.D. decided to use the opportunity to show Maggie what she would be throwing away if she did not want to hear his explanations. And thus began a series of flashbacks through significant times in their lives, such as the first time they met, the lead-up to their marriage, the births of their children and other major events in their lives together.
The storyline is great but the flashbacks can be quite jarring. Also, the book failed to explain why Maggie distrusted J.D. to the extent that she would not listen to what he had to say when she saw him come out of the shower with Glory behind him. And though everything ended happily ever after, like all good romances do, it was a bit disappointing because of an incident right at the end that I thought was unnecessary by the author to bring the couple closer together.
But that aside, I recommend Mariah Stewart's books, especially her older ones. They are really good and this is no exception.
Rating: Summary: A contemporary you need to have on your keeper shelf. Review: This is not the type of romance I would normally select, but once I started reading it, I was immediately hooked. The story is about a successful rock singer from England, and the way it is told is through memories--quite unusual, but very effective. MOMENTS IN TIME brings out all of your emotions. I cried during many parts because the story is so tender and sad. This is a book that will stay in my mind for a long time and is definitely a KEEPER on my shelves. (angelca@ibm.net)
