Summary: Great!
Review: I read 3/4 of this book on a two hour flight from Seattle to Las Vegas and I truly didn't want the flight to end! I wanted to finish my book! Instead of gambling I shut myself up in my hotel room for another hour and finished the book. I loved it!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Absolutely wonderful
Review: I read Acts of Honor and had to glom Vicki Hinze's backlist. I love suspense and Shades of Gray was terrific. She's now on my "automatic buy" list!

Summary: Absolutely wonderful
Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I started it Saturday morning and didn't put it down until I finished it, Saturday night (I'm a slow reader). Jake Logan and Laura Taylor marry in order to make it easier for Jake to gain custody of his son Timmy. Laura is more than willing to do this as she truly loves Timmy and is very close to Jake. They promise each other that they will not fall in love and that the marriage is strictly to benefit the child. (Good luck is what I thought at that point) As both involved in the military where danger is always around the corner, Laura is around Timmy more often than Jake. Madeline, Timmy's mother and a drunk constantly tries to harm Laura as revenge for 'taking' Jake away from her; sometimes even risking the child's life and wrecking havoc in this family's life, which includes making it difficult for Laura to officially adopt Timmy. Neverthless, someone out there hates Laura and Jake enough to attempt to kill. I love the chemistry between Jake and Laura, how can there not be? She see's his undying love for his son and he see's her unwavering loyalty. A great read. If you like this book, try Tempting Fate by Meryl Sawyer, similar in some ways but not exactly. If you already enjoyed Tempting Fate, I guarantee you this too will be a winner in your book.

Summary: Most vapid, unoriginal, and saccharine book I have read!
Review: If you like absurd and ill-conceived story lines, vapid one-dimensional characters, and poor story research, then this book is for you. I am a big fan of mystery/suspense romance, and while I admit a big part of romance novels is suspension of disbelief, this inane story asks too much. the author is obviously very knowledgeable about some areas of military life, but falls far short in many areas that are a key part of her story. Her characters are a ridiculous, idealized, army recruiting poster, who had me reeling from sugar shock. In short, if you like a story with at least a shred of cohesiveness and plot development, then don't buy this book.

Summary: Shades of Gray Sizzles with Suspense
Review: In "Shades of Gray", Vicki Hinze proves she can successfully combine elements of intrigue, suspense and romance.  The characters come to life from page one as Ms. Hinze writes with emotion that sizzles.

Laura Taylor and Jake Logan have been best friends for what seems like forever.  Both Special Ops in the Air Force, their relationship has remained platonic, but that's about to change.

Jake's drunken ex-wife is determined to gain custody of Jake's young son.   Laura loves the child as if he were her own and she will do anything to protect him from the upheaval his mother is capable of.

Laura and Jake marry to protect his son. Shortly after their marriage, Jake is called in on operation "Shadowpoint."  Laura too is involved, although even she is unaware of how deeply.

As they are plunged into the insane world of terrorism, Laura and Jake realize their relationship goes beyond friendship...Ms. Hinze leaves the reader hanging with each word.  This book is impossible to put down after the first paragraph.

Summary: Hinze is a master story-teller at work!
Review: Rarely does a book grab me strongly enough to demand that I continue reading (uninterrupted) until I reach the last page. SHADES OF GRAY is one of those books. Ms. Hinze has a gift for story-telling that far exceeds the talents of most authors. Her grasp of what makes a terrific tale and her ability to people it with characters that steal your heart and evoke empathy is fantastic and only outshone by her insight into the human heart. Do yourself a favor--READ THIS BOOK!
