Summary: Well researched book, but hero is highly questionable
Review: This is the 2nd romance novel I read, I read it in October.
On the one hand, it was excellent, in that this author must
really know her stuff when it comes to this time period,
because it was extremely detailed and well done in that regard.
On the other hand, most of the time I spent reading it, I had
difficulty in believing that Richard truly loved her. I think
the puppy part was put in to soften him up. But there was one
scene in particular, in the last 1/3 of the book, where he
could have stopped something awful from happening to her, but
he let it happen anyway, part of his plan, apparently.
I'm giving the book 4 stars, not for the characters, but for
the time & research that must have gone into this book. As
for the characters themselves, I would give it 3 to 4 stars,
and for Richard, 1/2 a star, maybe.

Summary: Historical Romance at it's best!
Review: To enjoy a book is many things...

It's to have a connection with the heroine so strong that you feel like it could have been you in a previous life. It's to feel love for the hero, so deep that you wish he were real and not fiction. It's to have hope for the cause they are fighting for and hopeing with all your heart that they will be successful. It's to learn by the disctiptions and hystorical aspects so much that you have new found apreciation for hiscotrical documents and the people who preserve them to used in such an amazing book!

This book has all of the above and much much more. It's caracters are strong, but loveable. It's story is easy to follow, but so rich in historical details that you'll be transported back to that time to live the story to it's fullest!
