Summary: A Story to Remember
Review: "With Hope" is the best book I have read in a long time. The newest best sellers have been somewhat of a disappointment to me lately with several of my favorite writers. I decided to try reading a book written a few years back and was glad I did.

Summary: Best collection of characters I've ever read!!!
Review: Dorothy Garlock created a wonderful collection of characters in this novel based in the 1930s. The only bad thing about this book, was closing it and letting go of these characters. I've fallen in love with the main characters - Henry Ann Henry and Tom Dolan... but most of all, for her step-brother, Johnny. I so hope, as I believe the other readers will too, that Ms. Garlock will write a novel with Johnny as the main character someday. He's simply charming and easy to fall in love with.

The main characters provided a spectacular chemistry of emotion, while the world around them suffered with the hardships of the time. However, they were not completely unaffected, they did suffer as well, along with witnessing the suffering of those around them they cared about.

The one thing that Ms. Garlock did create was characters that were obviously bad... when sometimes actually there is a fine line between bad and good within a person. The story would have been even more emotional if those characters showed more of their good, along with some of their evil.

Overall, a very good book with wonderful characters, that you are sure to enjoy!

Summary: Great and exciting work
Review: Greatly enjoyed "With Hope" . I Like the change of pace that Mrs. Garlock have done in this book. A great writer. Henry Ann and Tom give us a look into the lives of what the 1930's was like. Keep up the good work Mrs. Garlock.

Summary: Sorry
Review: I am amazed at the great reviews! I found little redeaming in this story. The focus on sex was unbelievable! The disorder of Tom's wife was sexual. The teenaged sister was a tease. The great love was with a married man.... The sweet single mother was a rape victem...The town had nothing ever to talk about except sex... I was finally thrilled when there was a murder but of corse the reason behind the murder was once again unforfilled sexual desires... come on! I did wish that I knew what happened to the sister in the end and was frustrated that I was left with out conclusion there. The story may have been true for it's time but I can not believe that more substance could not have been added to a story line...

Summary: Absolutley breathtaking!
Review: I LOVED IT! Dorothy has a way of writing that absolutely brings the story to life. I could actually see what all the characters looked like and could picture the farm and the town in my mind. I love the relationship between Henry Ann and Tom, but I have to give it up to Aunt Dozie. She made me laugh everytime. I can't wait to read the next book "With Song". I also love the change of pace in this book from the usual western books she writes. Those are GREAT too! But this one really takes the cake! Thanks for the great reading Ms. Garlock...more...more...more

Summary: Wonderful! The Best One Yet!
Review: I loved With Hope. Dorthy Garlock is the most gifted romance writer I have yet to have the pleasure to come across. With Hope is the first one of her books I read. After Henry Ann Henry's father dies and she's left with her two rebelious step siblings Henry Ann is left with the world on her shoulders. I became so attached to her and all of the other characters in this wonderfully written book. I've read it and reread it.

Summary: Wow! Harrah, for Garlock
Review: I wasn't sure that I'd like to read a book set in this time period. After I started it, I couldn't believe how good it was, and as I read I gained more respect for the people who lived through the depression. I was transported back to the '30's. The characters were so real, the love between a man and a woman so sweet. I'll be looking forward to the next book in the series.

Summary: A really great story
Review: I'm not usually a romance reader. I did get a copy of this book and was pleasantly surprised. From a man's point of view, the story was more than romance. The farm life during the depression was just as my grandfather described. Henry Ann was a woman who knew how to get things done. She managed her life, even though she was in love with a man who was tricked into marrying an unstable woman and stayed with her out of loyalty. The book had several sub-plots going that I found equally interesting. The author's protrayal of characters is very good. I want to read more books from this author.
