Summary: Hot, Passionate, and Thrilling
Review: In a word - HOT - from the very first pages, this book simply sizzles! It was quite raw and powerful, with a young woman who did what she thought would be the only way to survive being taken by pirates. The last survivor on the seized ship, she had seen everyone else slain, the decks were awash in blood and by the hungry looks of the pirate crew she would be next. She realized her only hope was to have the captain claim her for his own, and through a strength she did not know she possessed, she projected as much sensuality as she could in order to convince the captain to claim her for himself.

The captain, Dan, took one look at her and recognized blatant sensuality and, along with his lust, somehow his humanity surfaced, for he knew that if he did not claim her for his own, she would never survive the night.

This was a very raw and passionate journey of sensuality, possession, obsession and love. It was a tale of survival that both Dan and Lydia intimately knew well enough in each their own way. After, Lydia escapes the ship and Dan, he only knows that she has taken with her his captain's portion, and finally, after he finds her again, realizes that his very survival would be meaningless without her. This was a very powerful and sensual love story. Super good and fast read! Loved it!

Summary: This book rocks!
Review: OI! DAN IS THE MAN! And Lydia rules! One thing I love about this book is that Dan reminds me of my two favorite characters of all time, from anime's Fushigi Yuugi: Tasuki and Kouji! This guy had it all and he was fine! Amber eyes, dark hair, and that scar! *passes out and then tries to stand to finish this review*

I am not a fan of reading, but I happened to stumble upon this book by fate, and happened to buy it! Well, let me tell you this, I could not put it down! I read the whole story in two nights and could not sleep! This is and has become my favorite book and story of all time! I remembered more from this book than I ever did reading any other book, even to all the names, and characters, and who they were... It gets into your blood and this tale, I will never forget! ^.^;

The beginnig comes at you and just blows you away, and then the plot takes a very shocking twist! Can't say, or you'll be spoiled...but it will just shock you! The sizzle does come in the beginning, and then during the middle-it mellows out a bit and gets serious, with some great interaction with the characters, and the way the writer tied so many things into the plot! It just had me spellbound! But the most amazing thing about this story, is that beginning has so much sizzle, when the middle drops down the steam about a few paces, it's okay, cause you still are effected by the great talent of Claudia Dain! She gives you enough-UMPH-in the beginning to still make it steamy during the middle till the end when things slow down. You still are blushing and just effected even during the not-so-steamy-scenes. Well, that is what made it a bit better, cause she twistde fantasy and reality into that idea. The way she wrote the passion, desire and longing was so realistic, just mingled with many touches of fantasy and want. The way the two characters find out emotionaly, and enternaly what their hearts and souls are made of. It will leave you breathless until the very last page! ^_______^ A must read! Believe me, you will not be disapointed! I am a Claudia Dain fan for life! The one person who can write an awesome story, and make me want to read more romance!

Summary: Ultra sensual and thrilling
Review: Tell Me Lies is a wild and very sensual adventure that will be of great interest to all romance fans. Talented writer Claudia Dane keeps the story moving at a fast pace while introducing delicious twists that continue to delight the reader.

It is 1715 and the virginal but sensually beautiful Lydia McIntyre is on her way back to her home colony of Virginia (after caring for a sick relative in the Bahamas) when her ship is looted by pirates and she, the only one spared, is taken back to their ship. As the pirates fight over how they will pass her amongst themselves, planning to gang rape her, she realizes that her only hope for survival is to lure the so far absent captain into wanting her all for himself.

When Captain Dandridge Prentis appears, he is swept away by the most powerful attraction he's ever felt. The gorgeous beauty tied to the mast in front of him lures him with her passionate eyes and luscious curves, promising the practiced pleasure of a high-class courtesan. He gives up his whole monetary portion to the crew to keep her all for himself but knows that he cannot control their unrest for long.

Lydia and Dan embark on a thrilling, utterly passionate and steamy relationship that leads to unexpected gentleness, laughter and companionship. When Lydia finally escapes the ship, Dan is a man possessed, willing to risk all to find her, to possess her. They are the pirate and the whore-yet neither are what they appear to be. When Dan finally tracks Lydia to her parents' home of three years-which is in his home town-the stakes get even higher as revelations and passions mount.

Tell Me Lies is thoroughly entertaining, ultra sensual, full of sympathetic and well-developed characters, thrilling situations and is absolutely impossible to put down. Run, don't walk, to pick up your copy.

Summary: Missed the big picture
Review: The author has a lovely flair for words and imagery... perhaps a little too much at times. Her characters are fairly interesting, the character conflict certainly intriguing. But I never thought that the heroine was really in the story; she was unchanged (except by shock) by her circumstances. The small-town girl makes an exciting journey before the book begins... what did she think of that? She has to walk three months through wilderness, a potentially fascinating narrative (I certainly couldn't do that and survive!) that is glossed over in one sentence. The hero faces charges that I thought would be the big plot climax (as opposed to the relationship climax) to the book... and it turns out to be skipped over, practically forgotten. (Also, we never saw the hero fight pirates, which would be his reason for being a noble person. He had a chance to prove himself to the reader and the authorities, and never did!)

With her next book I hope the author remembers that although she can have interesting characters, they need to be firmly enmeshed in their plot and affected by it. In a historical, we also need to feel that these are not 21st Century people pretending to be in earlier centuries. Again, the author does show a terrific use of language in parts, and handles the sexual tension well (if it's quite drawn-out in the first chapter). I hope that her next book will come out soon so we can see how much she's improved! She shows real promise.

And ps: the cover really was unfortunate. The guy's staring at the girl's breasts, and both look like they just stepped out of a small music club just down the street.

Summary: WOW, HOT! HOT! HOT! - Could not put it down!
Review: This book was great! It sizzles, I could not put it down from page 1 all the way to the end. I read it in 1 day. This is my first Claudia Dain book and definately will not be my last. He, Dan, the Pirate captain, was her only chance for survival, arrogant, headstrong, in control, but tender to her. She, Lydia, protrayed the harlot to save her life. Neither were what they seemed. She leads him on a chase that will change his life (back). A must read, but be prepared to hold on to your heart!

Summary: Tell Me Lies
Review: This is an old-fashioned pirate story with a brand new twist. The captured maiden seduces the pirate captain. The intimate scenes in the early chapters are some of the hottest I've read in a long time. The book contains humor, suspense, good historical descriptions of Williamsburg Virginia, and a sizzling romance. Very entertaining.

Summary: Just about the worst hero imaginable!
Review: This pirate has killed lots of innocent people to avoid leaving witnesses. He would have killed the heroine, too, if she hadn't been intentionally trying to entice him. He has also raped women and allowed his crew to gang-rape and kill innocent women. Indeed, his attack of the heroine can also be considered rape, because she only consented in order to save her life. When she escapes, he goes after her only because she "owes him" since she was his portion of the treasure and he hadn't finished with her yet. Indeed, he repeatedly calls her a whore and refuses to marry her because she is damaged goods, even though he is the one who ruined her!

This guy is a romantic hero???

The heroine is pretty ditzy too. She knows what this guy is like, but after two days of being treated like a whore, she's in love. Well, I think she has a problem discerning the difference between love and lust. I mean, there's really nothing there to love except his sexual prowess.

This is the type of book that gives historical romance a bad name. Sex is not love. Women who fall in love with rapists and murderers are idiots. . . they definitely do not make good heroines.

But by far the most disturbing part is the overwhelming number of readers--primarily women, I'm sure--who have written rave reviews of this book. Very disturbing.

Summary: Tell Me Lies by Claudia Dain
Review: This superbly written, sensual story is not a fainthearted, swooning fantasy novel. The book is brimming with seemingly real characters, who come to life with amazing depth and a well-researched historical setting. Claudia Dane tackles the tough questions of real-life, male-female relationships and finds real answers to the most spiritual questions within us all. Try not to become so lost in the steamy, well-woven story that you miss the brilliant use of metaphor and allegory throughout.

Summary: not my favorite
Review: Well I bought this book because I love pirate stories or stories about the sea. This book was a disappointment. It dragged. I didn't like the love scenes. I really disliked the hero and the heroine didn't make me proud either. I wish I could have liked this book but I really didn't.

The story starts out with the heroine being held captive by a ship of bloodthirsty pirates who will kill her after they have had thier fill. She decides that in order for her to survive she must attract the captian and become his whore. The hero is now the captain after having killed the former captain. He decides to take the captive woman up on the invitation her eyes are sending him. He never realizes that she is a virgin and believes her to be a well practiced whore. After several days they near shore and she manages to escape. He searches for her and when he finally finds her he stalks her. This book protrays pirates as they probably really were but I don't think it made for a nice enjoyable romance.

Summary: A Thrilling Read - Don't Miss This Book!
Review: What a pleasant surprise to find myself engrossed in this wonderful period romance. My expectations were high, and this story delivered! Ms. Dain paints her scenes with such vivid descriptions that you truly watch them in your mind's eye. I was drawn into this world on Page 1 and was sorry to see it end on Page 341! You will not want to put this book down until you finish! I am looking forward to Ms. Dain's next book!
