Rating: Summary: A badly padded and slow-moving story Review: I find this book most disappointing. The story is flimsy ,drags terribly and stretches my patience. You will only like this book if you like your heroine to be silly, childish and dim-witted which is exactly what Joy is like in this story. Her silly prattle is irritating and her inability to comprehend why her husband keeps telling her not to use magic or they may suffer dire consequences if she is discovered by the ton to be a witch is infuriating. The trouble is that she is such an inept witch that her spells go awry more often than not and bring havocs. There is nothing I like about the heroine and the way she lets her ermine eat away the footman's hair is reprehensible. She might be the Duchess, the animal her pet and he the servant. But this kind of exploitation of hired help is another quality of her that turns me off.
Rating: Summary: A delightful, witty book Review: I have read Bewitching twice and enjoyed it both times -- it's a perfect pick-me-up after a hard day. For an out and out fantasy you couldn't go wrong with this book; the events of the story are deliciously fantastic and very very funny. The inclusion of sorcery into the story makes this novel an alternate Regency and the result is delightful.
Rating: Summary: 10 stars! One of the best romance books I have ever read! Review: I love Joy and Alex. The story was very simple - about an incompetent witch who fell in love with a pompous hard-headed duke. But the style was so good - the readers are drawn deeply into the story and we share so intmately the feelings of the key characters. We laugh when they laugh, we tear when they cry, we wince when things go wrong and we glower with happiness when things work out well. A great touching story! I love it!
Rating: Summary: Fabulous, Fun Read, with warm inviting characters Review: I really enjoyed this book. Admittedly in the beginning, and even in the middle, I wanted to strangle Alec. The character of Joy is one of spirit, perseverance and humor. The ending I could read over and over again. This definitely is a keeper, I look forward to reading many more books from Jill Barnett
Rating: Summary: Magic Review: I really enjoyed this book. It was very refreshing and magical. It almost had me believing in magic. This book was very humerous and enjoyable. It made me laugh and I loved the surprise at the ending. If you want to get away from the tension of the world and step into fantasy land this is the book to read. It was great and it kept my interest through out the entire story. However it was not a book that I stayed up all night glued to the pages. It was a fun read and I loved the characters.
Rating: Summary: A must Have!!! Review: I swear people thought I was crazy cause I would laugh out loud while reading this book! The mishaps that this heroine goes through are so bust-out-loud funny that I recommend you read it somewhere where not only can you laugh out loud but all so cry. You definetly get so into the character that you feel her laughter and pain. You can't help but love her! And she's not the only one you fall in love with there's the butler, her pet weezel and of course her hero. Before I read this book I had no idea that romance novels could be this funny. Now I have practically all of Ms. Barnett's books and I recommened all of them. If you decide to read this one don't miss the next book "Dreaming" where the match making aunt didn't stop with her niece but with the friends of her new nephew-in-law.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely "Bewitching", this book was a pleasure to read. Review: Joy & Alex are a wonderful couple. On the basis of the tv series "Bewitched" but better & much more passionate.
Rating: Summary: This one'll melt your heart like a burning candle !!! Review: Joy is the most charming and funniest heroin ever created. Alec is forever stunned, irritated, and enchanted. Life with a perky witch would never be a bore. Humor even pops up in a love scene. If you're not sucked into this fun-packed, highly-imaginative love-story, U need to re-evaluate your sense of humor.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely Enchanting!!! Review: Joyous Fiona MacQuarrie is part Scottish and part blue-blooded English, part mortal and part witch, but mostly she's all heart. She takes the time to notice all the ordinary magic of life surrounding her. Her witch's magic, however, has a habit of going astray quite often which leads to some very humorous moments. It also leads her to literally land on Alec Castlemaine, Duke of Belmore, who is humorless, rigid and lives his life by a predictable schedule which doesn't include frivolity of any kind. When these polar opposites meet, it's up to Joy to melt the wall of ice around Alec's heart with her own special magic. This fairy tale love story is beautifully crafted and full of Ms. Barnett's trademark humor. I absolutely loved the characters of Joy and her wheezing sidekick weasel, Beelzebub. Once started, this book is difficult to put down. This is the prequel to Dreaming, one of my top 10 favorite romance novels of all time!(which I accidently read first) Dreaming is the story of Letitia & Richard who are introduced in this book. Jill Barnett is one my favorite authors & I've just about worked my way through everything she has written. All of it is wonderful, but Bewitching is one of her best.
Rating: Summary: A sweet fairy tale. Review: Joyous Fiona MacQuarrie was a beautiful, Scottish witch with lovely green eyes. A witch who couldn't control her magic no matter how hard she tried, to the despair of her aunt, the MacLean, one of the best witches of all time. It was one of her spells that went wrong what made her fall into the arms of the handsome Alec, Duke of Belmore. They got married and she turned Belmore Park upside down with merriment and strange occurrences, but soon the fire turned into ice when the proud nobleman discovered that his wife was a witch. It's a great book that will make you smile, laugh out loud and cry. The supporting cast is great. Don't miss "Dreaming", next in the series.
