Summary: Time to write about a different family?
Review: I enjoyed Patti Berg's Wife For A Day a lot, and the sequel Born to Be Wild a little less than the first book. With Something Wild, the third book in the series, I'm hoping that Patti could write on a different group of people. By the time another book in the series comes out, most people would have forgotten about the secondary characters in the previous book.

Don't get me wrong because I enjoyed reading this book about Charity and Mike. But writing about every secondary character ever appeared in the previous books can be pretty dull especially if readers are expected to remember who's who and what happened in a book that was read probably when it first came out the year before.

Patti's next book is about Logan Wolfe, a secondary character in Something Wild mentioned maybe a total of half a dozen times. I'm sure it will work well as a stand-alone but it remains to be seen if Patti intends to include the whole Remington/Wilde/Flynn family into her latest book as well.

Summary: Not one of her best
Review: I had really looked forward to the next book in Patti Berg's series. But apparently I missed something in this book because I wasn't at all impressed.

You have minister Mike Flynn, struggling with guilt over his wife's death six years ago. Mike's attitude about sex outside of marriage is refreshing and his loneliness heart-breaking.

Then you have Charity Wilde, virtous showgirl who wears practically nothing at her job & dances in ways bordering on obscene (her admissions). I'm not sure why she got so upset with Mike seeing her in the tub since she wasn't wearing much less than she did on stage. She decides what's best for a wild mustang. In the process she risks the lives of animals and human and nearly costs a man his life.

I also found it hard to believe that any man, especially a minister, would laugh at the woman he loves crawling all over another man as part of her "act". And I'm not sure why or when Mike fell in love with her since all he ever thought about was how much he wanted to get her in bed. I found Charity to be self-involved, irresponsible and a less than endearing character. This won't however, stop me from reading the next book in the series. I still enjoy Patti Berg's books and trust the next will be better than this.

Summary: Another Patti Berg delight
Review: I have been waiting for Patti Berg to write Mike Flynn's story. If you've read Wife For A Day and Born To Be Wild, you'll recall that he's the manager of Jack Remington's ranch.

Oh yeah...he's also a minister.

Don't let that fool you though, he's 100% red-blooded man.

In Something Wild, Mike meets up again with Charity Wilde (Max Wilde's sister) when she visits from Las Vegas to attend a family reunion. Sparks immediately fly, tempers flare, and Mike and Charity discover that there's something going on between them.

Mike, however, has his doubts that Charity would be willing to give up the bright lights of Las Vegas and become a preacher's wife in the wilds of Wyoming. Charity has herself convinced that what she's dreamt of forever is a career onstage. Little does she know that fate (and Mike) have other plans in store.

I enjoyed reading Something Wild; it's a sweet story, with some sensuous moments as well. Patti Berg has penned another winner.

Summary: Entertaining read with emotional punch...
Review: The rebellious daughter of a preacher, Charity Wilde dreams of becoming a famous Las Vegas showgirl. Her termination from the latest show, however, sends her packing to Wyoming to rest, relax and visit with family and friends. What Charity finds is a wild stallion that she'd rather see run free than be captured by determined cowboy, Mike Flynn. These two butt heads from their first meeting.

Mike Flynn is no ordinary cowboy. Widowed and celibate for six years, Mike can't shake the feelings of guilt he still has over his wife's death. He's confused by his developing feelings for Charity and doesn't need the distraction. And how is she going to react when she finds out he's also a minister?

Charity and Mike are two of the most unlikely people to ever set eyes on each other. Both are emotionally challenged with definite ideas of what each wants in life -- totally opposite of the other's plans and dreams. When it becomes apparent that the two are fighting a deep attraction to each other, Charity runs back to Las Vegas and Mike soon follows. If they could only communicate honestly with each other, they might realize they were meant to be together.

SOMETHING WILD is in turns emotional, playful, intense and heart-wrenching. Ms. Berg does a wonderful job putting these two complete opposites together and attracting them to each other like magnets. Sexual tension runs high and dialogue is often filled with innuendo. Mike's strong sense of honor and Charity's insecurities make for an interesting storyline.

SOMETHING WILD is a fun, lighthearted and entertaining read with several emotional punches thrown in leading up to a very poignant ending.

Summary: Amusing sequel
Review: They first met at the wedding of his brother, but neither Charity Wilde nor Mike Flynn felt any sparks. Both went on with their lives with Charity returning to Vegas in her efforts to become a headline showgirl and Mike to run his ranch.

They meet again when Charity returns to Wyoming on a family visit at the Remington Ranch. This time an attraction engulfs both of them, but neither desires the unwanted feelings. Mike remains racked with guilt over his deceased wife and his caring for Charity increases his feelings of inadequacy. Charity's situation is a bit simpler as she does not want to give up her dream of stardom. Not even Cupid could hope to bring this couple together.

SOMETHING WILD is a sequel to the fantastic WIFE FOR A DAY. Though the story line is as amusing as the latter novel, it lacks the social teeth of the first book. The tale is fun, engaging the reader through the two obstinate lead characters who want love and their dreams, but neither knows how to grab and hold onto the feelings. Patti Berg is quickly becoming a sure shot to provide strong entertainment for romance readers.
