Summary: One of the Best
Review: A Scandalous Affair is one of Ms. Hill's best. It is both timely and sizzling. For readers who want more out of a romance novel, this is definitely the one to read. The twists and turns and the sexual tension will keep you on the edge of your seat.

My one question is: Why does Ms. Hill have to be compared to Sandra Kitt? These are two different writers, with completely different styles. If you want to read Sandra Kitt, then read her. And if you want to read a Donna Hill, read her. But read them for what they are. I'm glad they aren't the same, or what would be the point of buying their work if they wrote the same way?

Kudos to Donna and Sandra. Separate and equal in their own right.

Summary: Donna has done it again
Review: Although Donna hasn't wrote a book for Arabesque in a while she has been tremendously busy. She comes back with a follow up on the children of the characters from her tale Scandalous.

Justin and Vaughn's daughters are very independant and passionate about their work just like their parents. They have become best friends as well. Things are tested when they fall for the same man. After four years Chad Rushmore has returned thinking about having a relationship with Simone but after a misunderstanding he falls in love with Samantha. The trio is involved in a history making court case. Simone and Chad must put all of their feelings aside in order to work together and not hurt Samantha who doesn't know the two had an affair.

Although there are about 350 pages this is a very quick read. Donna does an excellant job in dealing with the relationship between the step-sisters and the men in their lives.

Summary: One of the Best
Review: I was hoping to find a writer who was the equivalent of Sandra Kitt with Donna Hill. Although she does a very good job telling her story in the novel, I was not transported wholly into the world Hill creates as I am into Sandra Kitt's fictional worlds. I probably also prefer that Kitt intersects her black characters so well with white characters as they grapple with very human but deadly tension points between their races. In this novel, Hill goes for the blatant tension between races. Specifically, this is the racist police world, which I don't doubt exists, versus Hill's black characters in Washington, DC, who try to change that police racism with a class action lawsuit. There is also the smoldering question of which sister the lead lawyer, Chad, on the case will pick by book's end. And I do mean smoldering because Hill can write a very steamy and sexy novel. Hill is a lot "hotter" romance writer than Kitt is if that is your romance writing preference. I suppose she could be compared to romance author Linda Howard's level of "hot" romance writing. I suggest that one should read this novel and then read Sandra Kitt's most recent novel, "Close Encounters," where she has a white policeman shoot a black woman walking her dog on the New York City streets. She then convincingly manages to bring these two together as people despite their being at legally opposite poles from one another. I'm also a lawyer and I found Kitt's book more convincing in her handling of the legal environment. Hill's legal world was more heavy handed and didn't seem as authentic.

Summary: Simply Scandalous
Review: If you want to read a good novel with a profound storyline, A Scandalous Affair is one novel you must read. The plot comes straight from the headlines of today's newspapers but when love weaves its way between two sisters the story really heats up. I just loved Samantha, Simone, Chad and Adam and I believe you'll enjoy this novel as much as I did. It was also interesting getting a glimpse at Vaughn and Justin again.

Summary: Can you say "Another level!"
Review: That's what this book should have been called. I don't know about you, but this book took me to another place. This novel had so much in it that it makes my breath catch! I mean the type of story it was, the characters, the love, the true to life issues, the things that African Americans go thourgh all to often, the people of the world go thourgh everyday was unreal. I loved it. If you like Donna Hill, you will love her after this story of all stories. Just think a correlation of love. affiars of the heart, politics, heart felt issues of today's society is faced with, family, fighting for what's right, and did I say Love, will love and let's not forget one of the best romance writers ever putting her own drama and passionate twist on things makes this one hell of a novel. I know , belive me, I read it!! Hill did not half step with this one and boy does she keep her readers on the edge of their seats with some of the most passionate love scenes. What else can I say about this book that is not good. The book was the bomb!! Go out and get a copy, you'll get more then what you bargained for!!
