Rating: Summary: A Captivating Tale Review: This book is wonderful! It has all the elements that a reader could want-- betrayal, mystery, romance, and the element of surprise. I actually cared about the characters and what they felt. Usually, I skim through these books that seem to have little educational value. I started this one the same way, but within the first chapter I was hooked. The reason this book got 4 stars instead of 5 was because the ending seemed too pat. Everyone ended up exactly where I wanted them to, and that took away from the intensity of the book. Still, I highly recommend this book to everyone!
Rating: Summary: Wonderful story... Review: This is my first Emilie Richards book and I can say that it won't be my last! I enjoyed this book completely, the story kept my interest right through. Faith loves her husband and believes she will be able to close the distance she feels has come between them, she is devastated when she finds out he has a lover. The story goes on to tell how she handles life afterward and how she uncovers many family secrets. I can't wait to read all the other books written by this author, hopefully they will be just as compelling.
Rating: Summary: What a pleasant book this is! Review: This is the first book that I have read by Richards and I was sad to finish it. It is a thoughtful book, with interesting characters and a clever plot line that I didn't want to put down. Now that I've finished this one, I am going to order her other books on-line and hope that they are as good as this one!
Rating: Summary: Held my interest to the end! Review: This is the first of Emilie Richard's books I've read and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Faith's life takes a huge turn when she finds out that her husband [prefers men], and the revelation also takes a toll on her two children. Luckily, Faith's parents have a row house that she moves into and renovates with the help of the mysterious and oddly "available" Pavel Quinn (is it just me, or is the name "Quinn" popping up a lot in contemporary novels?). The emotional strength of Faith's character is written well, and I like how Richards teases us with potentially ghastly clues that end up being fun (such as the "Ghost" family in the attic). Remy's fall by the wayside into a potentially disastrous situation was an important essay in itself - as was the outcome of her involvement with the older boy. I like Richards' style.
Rating: Summary: What a great read! Review: This was another good book for Emilie Richards! Faith was the main character in the book and she had alot of obstacles and ghosts to conquer-problems in her marriage, her children, her parents, a lost sister, a new relationship but she did it! The descriptions in this book are so vivid you feel like you are there. I am a gardener so the description of the reconstruction of the garden on the property was especially interesting for me. I wouldn't miss the opportunity to read this story.
Rating: Summary: Great summer read! Review: This was one of those sit down, get absorbed in the story and relax kind of books. Perfect for vacation!
Rating: Summary: exciting character study Review: Though the sex lacks passion, Faith Bronson believes her life is nearly perfect, as she loves her husband David, the Director of the family foundation Promise Our Children. However, her fifteen years of marital bliss ends when Faith finds David in bed with his lover, journalist Abraham Stein. David comes out of the closet, but Promise Our Children invokes the morality clause of his contract that leaves the Bronsons broke. Faith and her two children move into the dilapidated Georgetown house that has been in her mother's family for years while David and Abraham openly live together. Faith investigates the history of her new residence where her newborn sister vanished almost four decades ago in a kidnapping that has never been solved. She looks to renovate her new home, which introduces Faith to Pavel Quinn. They are attracted to one another, but he hides secrets that tie back to her family and she grieves her previous relationship while helping her devastated children regain their mental health. PROSPECT STREET is an exciting character study that shreds the mental masquerades that individuals use to avoid emotionally shattering situations. The story line focuses on Faith as she redefines herself while trying to repair the damage done to the psyche of her two children, especially the teenager. Readers will question the motives of why Faith allowed pride to refuse needed assistance from her parents and why her prominent father put strings on his helping his beleaguered grandchildren as if the well being of Remy and Alex is a secondary concern. Emilie Richards provides a thought provoking tale that peels away the visages that people use to hide scarred inner essences from ridicule. Harriet Klausner
Rating: Summary: A total package! Review: What a completely satisfying read! Romance, mystery, family saga,history,..you name it, this book has it all. Don't be intimidated by the sheer size of the book. The story is so captivating you'll finish it in no time and, believe me, you'll want more. However, PROSPECT STREET isn't your typical romantic suspense. The author used a sublime way to tell her story. The plot's more depth than just solving a crime and baring heroine's flesh. There's no FBI/CIA-SERIAL KILLER-DAMSEL IN DISTRESS nonsense. If you like this book also read WHISKY ISLAND, THE PARTING GLASS and FOX RIVER. Those book're just as good, if not better.
