Summary: Another fun story from a wonderful author...
Review: Patti Berg's latest book from Avon, Bride for A Night, is a wonderful contemporary and a great follow up to her wildly popular Wife for A Day. Bride for A Night is Patti's seventh book and is surely another hit to add to her impressive book list.

Duncan Kincaid and Cairo McKnight are archaeologists, and they are also divorced. They met when Cairo, raised by archaeologist parents who named her for the city of her birth, was only a teenager following Duncan around the dig site. As they grew, their friendship developed into love, which led to a impulsive Las Vegas marriage. Unfortunately, after a wonderfully romantic and sexually inspiring wedding night, Duncan left. The fact was that he went to Egypt on a dig and got wrongfully arrested, in addition to having to fly home after his parents were in a car accident that killed his mother and permanently disabled his father. However, the only thing that Cairo could see was that he married her, shared her bed, left the next day, and didn't contact her. When Cairo's parents pushed for an annulment, Cairo agreed. Shortly thereafter, she learned she was pregnant.

Now, five years later, Cairo seeks out Duncan at his dig site in Montana to beg for his help in saving her failing tour business. She has never told Duncan about their son Dylan, but a brush with death has convinced her that she needs to see if Duncan can be a stable and reliable father to their child, who happens to be a accident-prone genius.

For those of you who know and love Patti's paranormal books, you will be pleased to know that there is just a touch of the paranormal in this story in Duncan's "conversations" with Angus MacPherson, the nineteenth-century mountain man who originally found a city of gold in Montana. The humor provided by Angus's observations and, Dylan's questions and catastrophes adds an important element to this relationship. The secondary characters, including Cairo's aunt and Duncan's father, who develop a relationship of their own, are very strong. The suspense of Duncan's quest and the danger for Duncan, Cairo and Dylan associated with it, both physically and emotional, will keep you on the edge of your seat. This book combines all of these elements in a wonderful way to create an unforgettable story. Great work, Patti - keep 'em coming! Copyright 2000, Barb's All Romance Book Store

Summary: Cute, but not as great as everyone says
Review: Patty Berg's book starts off wonderfully. She had me caught. The hero sounded wonderful. The adventure had promise. The initial chemistry between Duncan and Cairo was great. And then... Well, the book started to lose me. Maybe I've just read too many books were the single mom is afraid to tell the father of her child that he's a dad. Maybe I'm tired of this weakness in women that keeps them from telling the whole truth. Frankly, I felt Cairo wasn't as strong as Duncan seemed to think she was. I just didn't like her. So, it really didn't matter if they got together. Or maybe the problem was with the thing between Cairo's aunt and Duncan's dad. It was just - well, their reactions to one another didn't sit right. They seemed to fall into passion easily and fall right out of it just as easily. Their relationship was awkward because it happened so fast and they seemed to have so many issues that just got swept under the rug. I was very disappointed that this book wasn't better than the reviews said it would be. I was really looking forward to something different. Sorry, this is one for the garage sale.

Summary: Adventurous hero
Review: The book is like a scene from The Mummy. We have an adventurous hero, a daring heroine and a darling 4 year old boy. Most of the story revolves about Duncan's expedition to find the legendary 'City of Gold'. The heroine, Cairo, was his wife for a night. They were married in Vegas and she had a son with him. The fact was, Cairo never told Duncan about his son, Dylan since she felt that he wasn't responsible enough to be a good father to her son. The story was funny and sexy. I loved Dylan for his Taekwondo moves and he keep breaking things around him. That's okay with me since he is such a darling and a handsome 4 year old indeed!

This book will surely be a keeper for those swooning for Brendan Fraser or Indiana Jones macho type. But not for me, since sometimes the story just paced slowly. I am not a patient reader but I would surely recommend this for people who love bold and challenging theme.

Review: The quest of a lifetime is about to begin as daring, irrestible adventurer Duncan Kincaid and Cairo McKnight, the stubborn beauty he'd once been married to--for just one night!--travel far below the earth's surface on a quest to find the greatest treasure of all.

Summary: Her Other Book Was Better
Review: This book was really boring. Duncan and Cairo(weird name) fight with each other over the past and then they fight again over their son, Dylan. Not real exciting but there were funny and good parts.

I got to admit that the romance between them was sweet but Duncan and Cairo go hot and cold. One time they hate each other, in another time they're being real passionate and then they hate each other again. That's the part that killed my interest.

Summary: Digging Through
Review: This is the first book by Patti Berg I have read and I had to really "climb" my way through it. I wish I had read the reviews before I bought the book. The main characters were too immature and irresponsible to become likeable. If anything I am amazed that Duncan would forgive Cairo for misleading him for five years. There's got to be more than "long legs and a lush tush" to sustain even a romance novel's love. I realize the author tried to get the reader involved in Cairo's issues however the author negates any sympathy when she points out how Duncan HAD been there for Cairo while she was growing up......so why does Cairo forget all this and heap on her parents' mistakes on his head? It doesn't make sense especially when Cairo leaves her own son for her own career. Basic fact, if you don't like the heroine in a romance novel this is a major stumbling block to the rest of the novel.

I am going to give this author another go as the reviews that knocked BRIDE FOR A DAY praised WIFE FOR A DAY. Although I'll look for the book at the library before gambling my hard-earned money on this author.

Summary: This is the worst book ever!
Review: This is the stupidest,far-fetched, ridiculous romance novel I have ever read. I was angered that I wasted my time reading this junk that is passed off as a novel. It was boring, silly. and totally uninteresting. If you enjoy stories about underground cities and ghosts telling the characters what to do you may enjoy it, if you want passion, great dialouge, a romance and excitment, skip this book.

Summary: ho hum
Review: This wasn't a terrible book, but I did think the humor was pretty lame and silly. I love romantic comedy, but this just didn't fit my own sense of humor, and the plot struck me as awfully familiar, like this was like pretty much every other romantic comedy from Avon.

Summary: Quite the nice bit of reading material!!!!
Review: While I'm not much for archaeology myself...i did find this book to be very interesting and easy to read. Can't say I blame Cairo for the path she took the first four yrs. of Dylan's life...others may tend to disagree. Duncan was a virtual threat to himself for most of his life..until Cairo stepped in and changed it all for him!
