Summary: People Who Grow Up Live Happily Ever After!
Review: A friend recommened this book as a light hearted way to escape a stress-filled week. She was right. It doesn't take brains to figure out the plot or ending, but it reads smooth and you find yourself liking the the main and secondary characters.

Cairo McKnight and Duncan Kincaid married too young. Both had led adventurous lives on archaeological tours. After Cairo leaves to go to college and when Duncan feels she is old enough, he appears on her doorstep and ask her to elope to Las Vegas. They have a passionate wedding night, then Duncan skips town for a new archeological site. Cairo files for an annullment before she realizes she is pregnant. Fastforward four years, Cairo is about to lose her business and needs Duncan to headline a trip as the famous tour guide. Duncan refuses because he is on the trail of the find of his life, The City of Gold. They rediscover their love and lust for one another but are ripped apart when Duncan discovers he has a son the Cairo never got around to mentioning.

Both main characters are strong-willed, passionate characters who charm you into liking them. The secondary characters, Duncan's father who is diabled in a car wreck, Phoebe, Cairo's aunt who has helped her take care of her young son, and Dylan, the too bright and full of energy four-year-old each have wonderful and funny side stories that make up this book. You can't go wrong reading this book for pleasure.

On a side note, my hat is off to Ms. Berg for her use of a disabled person. The dance scenes are not only wonderful, but romantic in their own right. I am glad to see an author using a disability in such a positive way.

Summary: once you read this romance author, you won't want to stop
Review: Adventure seeking archeologist Duncan Kincaid and classic archeologist Cairo McKnight hastily marry in Vegas and share an incredible evening of lovemaking. However, by morning Duncan deserts his new spouse without a word to join a dig in Egypt. He is arrested and while he lingers in jail, a disappointed Cairo annuls their marriage before finding out she is pregnant.

Four years and one month later, Cairo feels guilty about ignoring Duncan's efforts to explain his actions and worse yet, hiding his son Dylan from him. Though desperate to save her tour business from going bankrupt, she uses it as a ploy to try to patch up their relationship. Though hurt by her ignoring his pleas, insulted by her offer to serve as a tour guide, and about to make a great discovery, Duncan sees an opportunity to regain the woman he loves. Will he choose pride and fame or a chance for love?

Readers of contemporary romance know that Patti Berg provides entertaining tales centering on miscommunication. Her latest tale, BRIDE FOR A NIGHT, is an exciting story that focuses on the need for meaningful dialogues to cement a relationship. The lead couple is an endearing duo though the audience will wonder how Duncan never knew about his child. Still, as with BRIDE FOR A NIGHT and WIFE FOR A DAY, Ms. Berg paints a wonderful story that will please sub-genre fans.

Summary: Disappointed!
Review: After waiting months for this book I also was very disappointed. Wife For A Day was a great book. Bride For A Night, unfortunately was not. I almost didn't finish it but I did hoping it would get better. I did not like Cairo's character. She was too indecisive. As an expert explorer, Duncan did some pretty dumb things. Even though their son had a high IQ, he seemed a little too smart for a four year old. The relationship between Graham and Phoebe did not seem real--I don't think anyone moves as fast as they did or after grieving for his wife for five long years Graham gets over her in a few days. Most scenes were short and clipped. I could go on but I won't. Sorry Patti this one just didn't do it for me. But I won't give up on you. I look forward to your spinoffs from Wife For A Day (Lauren Remington and Mike Flynns stories).

Summary: Delightfully fast paced with lots of fun and sexual tension!
Review: Both Cairo and Duncan have made mistakes in their pasts. They both had many issues to overcome in order to put their lives back together and the timing and the way Ms. Berg brings them back together left me laughing and crying and not wanting to put the book down! The secondary characters added so much sparkle to this book without overshadowing the hero and heroine! The attention to detail with the Mayan ruins was wonderful! I absolutely loved this book as much as I have all of Patti's books!

Review: Bride for the night is a fun book to read.

Summary: Bride for a Night
Review: Cairo McKnight and Duncan's quickie Las Vegas marriage lasted only for an evening before it was annulled. The marriage didn't produce much happiness, but it later produced a son, Dylan. Dylan is a young man now and wants to find out more about where he came from and who his father is. Cairo wants to reunite with Duncan, but Duncan wants nothing to do with either of them. Can all three of them get together and become a happy family? Patti Berg is settling into an old, familiar formula which lacks the sparkle and shine of her previous books. The writing may be solid, but it no longer stands out. Though the characters may be somewhat stale, the humor is still there, and we hope that also improves.

Summary: Corny and lacking originality...
Review: I did not buy this book, and for that I am extremely glad (...) My friend lent to me this book and Wife For A Day and I read Wife For A Day first because it sounded like the book that would not be quite as good and I like to save the best for last. Strangely enough, I was very impressed with Wife For A Day and was expecting an even better read when I moved onto the next...unfortunately this is not what I got. I am only right now in the middle of the book and I am debating whether or not I should finish it at all. Lets face it, the characters are boring. The dialogue between them is unrealistic and unintelligent. The plot seems like it was taken from a million other romance novels and Ms. Berg just subbed in the names. In the beginning, when Duncan first sees Cairo in the cave, is he startled to see her? No. It's been 5 years, he was never expecting to see her again, least of all in caves, and all he said was, "What are you doing here, Cairo?" with no feeling whatsoever. And it even mentioned that after Cairo fell and had her palm filled with cactus needles that the jerk liked seeing her in pain. I was not charmed.

Summary: Quite the nice bit of reading material!!!!
Review: I didn't have any high hopes for this book at first due to a prior experience with this author. I'm not a quitter and rarely give up on reading a book once I started it, but I had to put down "Wife for a Day" after 2 chapters. I couldn't sympathize with the heroine therefore I couldn't get into it.

On the other hand, I really liked this book's heroine and hero. I was always intrigued by archeologists exploring the secrets of ancient history. The hero and heroine of this romance is a pair of archeologists. They were married five years ago. On the night of their marriage, the hero Duncan left his wife to go to Egypt for an archeological find. He ended up in jail and the heroine Cairo annulled their marriage. She was also pregnant and had his son, which Duncan never knew about. She had also gave up exploring and started a tour business. After going through a near fatal accident, Cairo wanted to give his son a chance for having a father. At the same time, she needs to employ a tour guide and Duncan is the perfect person for the job. The story begins when she follows Duncan into a cave in which he's exploring in search of the city of gold. Typically, we see the pair falling in love again and also the problem of revealing to Duncan the presence of his son. Aside from this main pair, there's also a romance between Duncan's crippled father and Cairo's aunt, which I think could be more developed but overall an interesting change from the main storyline. I really enjoyed this book.

Summary: Original and fun!
Review: I love archeology stories, and I love Patti Berg's books--so what could be better than a romance like BRIDE FOR A NIGHT? (Answer: Not much.) I had a blast reading this book. The plot is fun; the romance is hot; and the ending is a delightful surprise. An added bonus is the wonderful romance between the hero's father, Graham Kincaid, and the heroine's aunt Phoebe. I had so much fun reading about those two, I wish they'd had their own book. And four-year-old Dylan just made me fall in love. The only thing that would've made this book better was a stronger conflict between Cairo and Duncan--but that wasn't enough to mar my enjoyment. I'm already looking forward to the next wonderfully original book by Patti Berg.
