Summary: I Feel Cheated...Wish I Could Give It No Stars
Review: I trudged my way through Eric Jerome Dickey's Cheaters, and was terribly disappointed with the characters, the plot and the author. This was my first time reading anything by Mr. Dickey, and it will probably be my last.

The poorly-developed characters are caught up in a world of lust and lies, so much so that I began to wonder if they had lives outside of the bedroom. The author cheated his readers and his characters out of a decent plot; this book clearly lacked any substance.

While I found Mr. Dickey's writing style to be rather pleasant, the incessant sexcapades of Stephan, Chante, and the crew made this novel completely unreadable.

Perhaps with some major revisions, this could be made into a pretty interesting movie. However, in the meantime, Cheaters isn't worth the paper it was printed on.

If you're looking for a cheap, lusty thrill, then by all means, Cheaters is your book.

I'm hoping that Mr. Dickey's other novels are much more rewarding than this one.

Summary: Wonderful
Review: This was my first read ever by Mr.Dickey. I have been hooked ever since. This book is about cheaters who get caught and basically about relationships in general. I read this book in one day. Can you say Drama,Drama and more Drama.

Summary: Read 'em and weep
Review: This book will hold your interest, no question about that. That's probably the author's point. As has been pointed out on this website, there is much pornography and voyeurs (like me) will peep in. His sex scenes are okay.

But do women really behave this way? How can a male author write in the first person as a female? I know, all the authors do it, but like he says in his "epilogue," remember it's only fiction.

It's only fiction because these educated people are apparently NEVER interested in anything intellectual, much less spiritual. That's why they seem so narcissistic. It's all about ME, ME, and ME, no matter who the character is. Darnell's decision to follow his Tammy Rainbow in the end is, well, fitting with the narcissism.

But why shouldn't they be narcissistic? They have no children, none of them, since Jake ordered all of his aborted...so much for his seed...he'll no doubt get over it and have others. The children we meet at Stephan's parents' home in Baldwin Hills, briefly, are wanna-be gang-bangers. This part is realistic. Stephan's stepfather and mother are also very realistic.

But for people with supposedly interesting jobs and college degrees, don't you think they might have some interest in their work? Besides receiving and making calls to their beaus? That part is unrealistic.

So, in the end, Mr. Dickey will please himself and his pocketbook. He'll be the person Darnell wants to be, a published author who makes the big score and doesn't have to drudge in the mundane workaday world like everyone else...but Darnell being an attorney? Well, he does owe his wife, I'd say, but that's fiction, right? Leave the wife who stood by you while you went through law school, because (a) she had a brief affair and (b) she doesn't like having intercourse in the garage?

Well, Darnell COULD have inspired the rest of us to go against our SELFISH inclination to watch out for NUMBER 1. But no, he doesn't do that. Attorney and bookwriter and all, he just shows us how to get for ME....the narcisstic way of life (certainly has much intellectual backing, for example, Ayn Rand, Robert Ringer, many, many more).

I like to think that we can rise above this animal level. Mr. Erick Dickey probably knows how to rise above his own narcissism, since he's such a clever guy, but would writing about that make him money? Maybe his other books are more along those lines. I'll have to read them and find out.

Diximus.

Summary: WONDERFUL JOB EJD
Review: Cheaters was a great book. It showed how modern couples are today. Every character was a sort of cheater in their life. This book had lust, love, and adultry. It was a well written book were E.D.J really showed his emotions of how hard it is to find someone now in days. This book has a lot of distrust and complementes the way men and women both distrust eachother. E.J.D did a great job I can't wait to read the next book.

Summary: CHEATER CHEATER
Review: loved this book. This book had trust, distrust, loyalty, commitment, and everything else in a relationship. Stephan played a great character. He was raised in a home with no father until his step-father. His father was a cheater so he later had some of those "cheater" qualities. Toyomi played a great character. She was like a "ghetto queen". When it came to back stabbing and getting revenge she was your girl. I don't believe in adultery , but I loved the way Darnell cheated on his wife. His wife treated him [badly] and he just kinda got sucked into the "game". The way he left her at the end of the book was great. He said I leaving, and don't try to contact me.

Summary: Can you say "reality"
Review: I got this book the moment it came out and I have been reading it once a year since then. This book is a classic. And even though I know whats going to happen, the part of Tammy locking herself in the bathroom singing, always bring tears to my eyes.
That was true love.

I know someone like every character in this book. After reading it, you find yourself wondering what happened to the relationships as if the characters are real.
Eric really out did himself with this one.
Great book!
