Rating: Summary: I couldn't put it down! Review: This book is off the hook! It took me a day to read it between working and going home to cook dinner. The Character Kayla, sounds like me. She remind you of a successful black females, with out kids, going to school and having their own place. You never can find a good man and when you do you don't know how to treat them. I almost cried for this girl, because I felt her heart ache and pain. Yaz was out of control. She resembled the issues that Wil was dealing with. Wil was out of control also. I would have killed his *ss. I swear to GOD. That man (boy) was tripping. I know that Kayla deserved more and she just had to find out for her self. I'm not saying a cheater is always a cheater but the men out here isn't proving the saying wrong. I hope everyone read this book because it's off the chain. Babygirl
Rating: Summary: LOVE IT! Review: This book is the bomb! The author kept it real by describing the character's views on men. It's nice to read a book that makes me laugh and it interesting from beginning to end. I hope Ms. Poole hurries up and write more books!
Rating: Summary: IT WAS MORE LIKE HO HO LOVE Review: i DON'T KNOW WHERE TO BE GING WITH THIS REVIEW BUT. Yo Yo Love could have been better i'm tired of reading books where sitah's drop the panties the first night and don't even know the brother come on people think use your mnind not your behind.
Rating: Summary: Does time bear all dreams? Review: Due to several book club discussions, I started this book with much apprehension. I was prepared for a reckless, off the hook kinda sistah, with no direction. But I was very surprised to meet an impressionable young woman whose face I've seen countless times, even in a mirror once. The main character Kayla, has yet to realize that she must learn how to be happy, before she can offer the job, of helping her stay happy, to someone else. She's 20 years old and has lived 15 of those years waiting for her prince to swoop down and carry her somewhere they can live happily ever after. Sound like a fantasy? Well that was Kayla's problem, and that caused much of her heartache. YoYo Love is the correct title for this book, because she bounced from one encounter to the next falling into something, each time thinking it was love. Kayla meets Wil and begins one unbelievable ride. Why would you just believe anything you are told, without checking it out. And how many times must you catch someone with their hands in the cookie jar before you realize, HELLOOO..., they are stealing cookies? When Kayla for the 3rd time says, "this is over", and cuts Wil loose, she meets Samir and more drama begins. She has been played so many times, that she decides to market her own game. She's going to date Samir and Wil, who is back for the 4th time, at the same time. Kayla knows that Wil is still carrying some very heavy baggage and that he is lying about his life at home, and she still wants to trust him. The moral of the story did not manifest itself in this book, but why should it? Life's answers do not unfold so readily, sometimes it takes a lifetime to get it right. Daamiah has the premise for a story that is sadly realistic, it was told from an urban view, with urban expectations. I applaud her ability to let us peep at one sector of living 'young' in America. aNN
Rating: Summary: CONGRADULATION Review: I would liketocongradulate this auther on her debut novel. I thing she did very well to be so young. The story was a real and interesting. I think some of us as some point has gone through some of the things that she talk about in this book. Kayla for instance, I think is a situation many of us can relate to. Sometimes we may have the solution to our problems and not even know it. I believe Samir was the one for Kayla but she was so much in love with..... now she's back where she started from....or should I say hanging. Much success to Daaimah. You are doing a great job.
Rating: Summary: A Must Read Review: This book had me turning the pages in anticipation. Ms. Poole surely outdid herself with this great book.
Rating: Summary: Keep them coming!!!! Review: I searched hi and low for this book and as I got ready to leave town I was notified by the bookstore that it finally came in. I rushed to get it, knowing I would need something to read on my journey. Not only did I read and finish it, so did my sister and now my mother's on the bandwagon too. Kayla is definitely an around the way girl. Easily distracted by money and men. But I can definitely feel where she was coming from. Sometimes, we as women, walk out on that true guy "Mr. Right" and that was Samir. Wil definitely deserved alot more than he was given, but his day will definitely come. And women remember, do sell yourself short!!! Ms. Poole keep writing some more books. It was definitely DA BOMB!!!!
Rating: Summary: FINALLY Something I can relate to! Review: This book was very realistic and gave a good example of what young African American women face in college and in their personal lives. This is pretty good to be her first book and for it to be published while shes still in college is even better. I read this book after I saw the preview that explained that the author went to my school. After I read the book I found out that she was in my class. The book is not about her at all, but I'm sure she got some ideas from her life experience in Philly.
Rating: Summary: Story of my life!! Review: Daaimah S. Poole has all the right ideas. The book, "Yo Yo Love" is an amazing portrayl of a female black college student trying to find her place in life. Kayla Johnson is looking for love in all the wrong places. After dating a long line of bad boys and users she finally realizes that she has her own life to live. When she finally feels like she's found "the one" her entire world is turned upside down. This is an amazing first book for the new author, Daaimah S. Poole. I could not put it down. Ladies, if you need a book that you can relate to, get "Yo Yo Love."
