Summary: I liked it!
Review: I loved the premise -- masquerading stranger appears as half-brother, heroine falls in love with him and scandalizes London. I'd buy it again - which is my personal standard for romance novels.

Summary: An acceptable read
Review: I would rate this book only acceptable. The relationship between Nick and Gabby is never really fully developed and after making love one time, they are suddenly in love only to have Nick "disappear". Sorry, it just doesn't wash. The ending was good but was thrust upon us too suddenly. Suddenly, Nick finds the bad guy, suddenly Nick returns, suddenly the book ends.

Summary: A great historical romance-well worth the wait
Review: In Ceylon, someone kills the Earl of Wickham during a hunting expedition. Jem Downess crosses the ocean and two land masses to inform his employer Lady Gabriella Banning that her half-brother is dead. Gabriella worries about what will happen to her two younger half-sisters, eighteen years old drop dead gorgeous Claire and fifteen-year-old Beth now that her odious cousin is the new Earl of Wickham. Her cousin is almost as malicious as her deceased father who abused the siblings when he lived.

However, before he died, Marcus gave Jem a letter that told Gabby to take Claire to London and allowed her carte blanche to his funds. Gabby knows the letters are worthless unless she and Jem keep quiet about Marcus' death. Feeling a bit guilty, Gabby decides Claire needs her season and will find a good husband in town. When the three women reach London, they find Marcus living in the family home. Since no one has seen Marcus in two decades except Jem, Gabby asks him to identify the man. Jem insists the real Marcus is dead. Marcus and Gabby reach an understanding, but neither one expected to fall in love.

SCANDALOUS is an entertaining Regency romance with the twist of two individuals, deceiving society for different reasons, ironically falling in love in the process. The story line is fast-paced, but it is the characters who make it so much fun to read. The lead couple is charming as they react differently to their growing attraction and to their joint culpability. The mystery behind the Marcus masquerade adds a sense of danger to a cleverly designed tale that will please historical romance fans.

Summary: If you like historical romances this one is a great read!
Review: Karen Robards' books are wonderful but as all romances, some are better than others. I have to say that this is one of my favorites. If you like an uncommon heroine, one that is not afraid to battle her economic woes by deceiving everyone as her last alternative then you'll enjoy the book. If you like the time frame and English setting you like it even more. A well-rounded heroine who is plain looking but shines in spirit. The storylines are definitely worth the read!

Summary: GREAT FUN
Review: Ms Robards keeps putting out the excellent reads. What an imagination... Lady Gabriella grew up under a wicked rich father. When he died he left everything to her half brother Marcus. AFter the sudden death of her brother, Gabby finds that she must do the unspeakable. Pretend that he is not dead and quickly find a husband for her beautiful younger sister. When Gabby and her sisters arrive in London for the season, they are greeted at the door by a man that claims to be her dead brother, Marcus. She hasn't seen her brother since she was a very little girl so she is isn't quite sure at the start. While the electricity sizzles between the two of the them, the ton can't help notice the obvious attractions the siblings have for one another. Of course it's a healthy relationship...Be sure to read and find out who is who.....

Summary: Irresistable is much better
Review: Okay, I know they weren't really brother and sister. But it was just too weird. People thought they were. And they're out there publicly falling in love. Dancing at balls and him kissing her hand. Everyone was freaking out, and still they kept up this courtship. (Spoiler) So when he comes back after he "dies", do they think no one will notice that it is him? Surely someone is going to put 2 and 2 together, and either think she is married to her brother or realize that this was one big con. I just couldn't get past the fact that they were supposed to be brother and sister.

Summary: Ughhhhh...!!!!!
Review: Okay, i love Karen robards' early novels but this one was pathetic! Okay, you got this guys impersonating this girl's brother/cousin/whatever-- point is reading the book you don't give a damn! Now, the guy of course likes this girl and vice versa but the book does NOT focuse on their relationship at all. Its about the mystery of who he is and who killed this girls real brother/cousin. The romance sucked!! the mystery was stupid and by two chapters in the book I don't care what the girl is like or what her sisters are like. Thank god I didn't buy this book but instead rented it from the library. My problem with this book you ask? Okay, 1. The hero was just not interesting 2. the relationship between man and woman was so tepid that was skipping not just pages but chapter! 3. If there was a mystery in the book, i didn't see it cause I just didn't care cause the "mystery" was so well...stupid! 4. The book spent too much time on descriptive paragraphs and not enought on dialogues between the man and woman. 5. at the end the author rushed to the ending so that all of a sudden they make love and they love each other. 6. the ending was anti-climatical...in fact the whole book was anti-climatical!!! Just hated this book. If you like this author, try her earlier novels where you actually get a little hot reading the novel instead of falling asleep!!!
