Summary: Entertaining but lacked the Jude Deveraux "magic."
Review: I found the story enjoyable to read but, not as entertaining as I had hoped. The story line was different and interesting to read. But, I was disappointed because it didn't seem to be written by Ms. Deveraux and her "magic touch" she seems to have. The entertaining and humorous dialouge wasn't there like in many of her other novels like the Velvet Saga and THE PRINCESS.I hope to see another novel of hers soon. Maybe it will be about the Taggert or the Montgomery families.

Summary: Superficial treatment of a story that had potential.
Review: Whenever I see a new Deveraux book, I am eager to get my hands on it as I was with this one. However, Angel fell far below average in its superficial treatment of the characters and their love. Throughout the story, I felt I never really knew much about Emily - she was more of a sketch than a fleshed-out character. While Michael was more engaging, he wasn't half the man most of Jude's characters are. Maybe there is something too etherial about an angel as a love interest. However, the story picked up when it delved into Emily's past lives and Michael's involvement in them. I really think this sidetrip was more interesting than the actual plot. Had Jude gone further into the characters' past, I think I would have felt much closer to Michael and Emily and their love would have been more believable. Nevertheless, the story was too rushed for this to have been one of her better books. No matter how you look at it though, I guess you just can't make an angel a knight in shining armor.

Summary: A disappointment
Review: I usually enjoy Jude Deveraux's books, but this one lacked something, or several somethings. Passion, for one-- Michael is an endearing character in some ways, but his love for Emily's pure soul is not the stuff of romantic fiction. Emily comes across as a bit of a twit, and the novel's climax is nothing short of ridiculous. Emily is jeaporadized by a poorly thought out and unintentionally hilarious "evil" so thinly plotted it is obviously nothing more than the barest excuse for having this angel come to earth. Skip it.

Summary: Well....
Review: Just to say, it certainly wasn't the best book Ms. Deveraux has written. It had good beginning though, but lacked all the humor and romance in her other books. I'm glad that I didn't buy the book but checked it out at the library instead. I suppose if one is looking for some different plots An Angel for Emily is the one. Did anyone else think that Emily was a bit....well, spineless?

Summary: GREAT STORYLINE, BRINGS OUT THE ROMANTIC IN EVERYONE.
Review: THIS WAS THE SECOND BOOK THAT I READ BY JUDE. I WAS REALLY PLEASANTLY SURPRISED. IT HAD A GREAT STORY LINE, AND WONDERFUL CHARACTERS. I WAS HOOKED FROM BEGINNING TO END. IF YOU HAVE EVER DOUBTED LOVE, THIS BOOK WILL GIVE YOU A REASON TO BELIEVE!!!! THIS IS A MUST READ!!!

Summary: Not up to her usual standards.
Review: I always look forward to a new Jude Deveraux book on the shelf. This one was such a disappointment. Too cute. Too sugary. All cotton candy fluff and no substance. I will still be looking forward to the new Jude Deveraux book when it comes out but I'm hoping it is more in line with the quality, suspence, feeling, etc. that I expect from her.

Summary: VERY ENTERTAINING, EXCITING AND ROMANTIC
Review: IF YOU BELIEVE IN ANGELS, THIS BOOK IS A HEARTWARMING TALE OF EVERYTHING YOU'D LIKE TO BELIEVE WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT ANGELS.....FUN, SAFE AND ALWAYS THERE FOR YOU. THIS STORY WAS VERY ENTERTAINING AND REINFORCED MY BELIEFS IN ANGELS.

Summary: Wonderful warm and uplifting
Review: Jude Deveraux has never failed me, her books are always full of heart, this one is no exception. If I ever had a doubt about angles I have none now. Micheal was one of her best, the way he loved her touched me to the very depths of my soul. I was left laughing and crying the whole book, and those fellings stayed with me for days after I had finished reading. It may not have been "A Knight in Shining Armor", or "Sweet Liar", but it is absolutly on my best sellers list.

Summary: Maybe the next one will be better.
Review: I have always loved Jude Deveraux's originality. However, this book did not measure up to her usual witty standards. It started out fresh and unique. But, it ended flat. The characters seemed to lack their usual depth, making the ending predictable and anticlimactic. I'm hoping to see an improvement in her next book.

Summary: The gong show goes angelic
Review: This was the first book that I have read by Jude Deveraux. I thought by the jacket it would be a cute, funny book. Well it tries to be funny and really doesn't make it. It tries to be romantic, but unless one has never heard of or doesn't believe in God, it doesn't stand as plausable. It tries to be a drama and comes up weak. Emily is a grown woman who has no idea what she wants or can get out of life. What seemed like a nice book in the beginning, finished with me still wanting to find some thread to believe in. I'm sure with all the books that Deveraux has written this must have been a "bad page day".
