Rating: Summary: The Very Thought Of You by Lynn Kurland Review: After I read "A Dance Through Time", I was hooked. I enjoyed this book also. Sometimes one needs to travel back to a different time, and this book takes you there. I am also a bit of a history buff, and found this book quite accurate. I am not a harliquin romance fan, but these books by Lynn Kurland are of a much higher caliber. We all would like to travel back in time, even for just a moment. This book provides us with a woman warrior posing as the laird of the castle. Great escapism.
Rating: Summary: Brilliant Review: Alex is a marvelous character. It was great to read more about Jamie and Eelizabeth again from(A DANCE THROUGH TIME). I'm so glad Lynn wrote a book just for him. Margrets charachter is so believable. You can just imagine it coming true. I do hope she writes more books for the other people in the book. Zach's story would be great. I do hope she keeps writing and including characters from her other stories. I know she has joined the Mc'Cloud's and the De Piagets in The Christmas Spirits, but that book is near impossible to get hold of. If you get the chance to buy it, get it, you won't be dissapointed.

Rating: Summary: Great Mideval Romance Review: Alex was so sweat and charming. Margret could of showed more affection. I felt she was too cold at times. All the other characters in the book were well brought out.
Rating: Summary: Not the Best Kurland book Review: Alexander Smith is a modern day man who has made a ton of money in the cut throat business world as something of a corporate raider. While visiting relatives in Scotland he finds a map in his brother-in-law's study indicating time travel `portals'. Thinking that after 30 plus days of rain he could end up in sunny Barbados (which was clearly noted on the map) as enough of an incentive, Alexander to considers giving it a try. He hops on his horse, heads out to the land marked faery ring, somehow makes a wrong turn and ends up in Medieval England. Clearly recognizing that this was not Barbados, and failing to return home, Alexander realizes that he must have a mission to complete before he can leave. Then he meets Lady Margaret of Falconberg, a spirited amazon of a woman determined to protect her home from the dreaded Ralf de Brackwald. Dressed in chain mail and brandishing all kinds of weapons Margaret thinking she has captured Edward, the brother of her enemy, she kidnaps him from the Brackwald keep. Instead, she ends up with Alex! What follows is the tale of their courtship. Now having read all of the de Piaget family series books by Lynn Kurland which were so very emotional, sensitive, and moving, I have to say, I was somewhat disappointed in the flatness of this book and these characters. Margaret, having led a tough life and holding together her property for 10 years after the death of her father had to be tough, but I have to say that she did not come off as a very endearing person to me. I didn't feel any warmth of character with her and I only got a little emotional with Alex when he saved the 3 year old Amery. The character of Margaret's bard, Baldric, I also felt was flat and his verse was not very enjoyable. There were numerous secondary characters in this tale, but I couldn't raise my enthusiasm level up enough to jump into the melee. It wasn't until nearly the end of the book when Alex's family came looking for them that I felt more life in the tale. I will read more of Kurland's MacLeod series, but honestly must say that I did not enjoy this one as much as all those in the de Piaget family series and cannot enthusiastically recommend this particular book.

Rating: Summary: Never disappoints! Terrific read! Review: All of Kurland's novels are fantastic, especially her newest one. The best thing about Kurland is that her story lines never get too complicated (no confusing twists and turns and twists and turns, etc.), and they always make for a light, amusing read. The relationships are believable and all of the characters are interesting. In 'The Very Thought...', the relationship between Alex and Margaret is sweet and touching. Baldric the Bard is hilarious. It was refreshing to have a heroine like Meg who wears chain-mail and who could best any man in a jousting contest. And all Alex wants to do is get to sunny Barbados, then woo his younger brother's girl friend. It was also great to see Jamie and Elizabeth again. If you're in the mood for a heart warming novel, this is the book for you! Keep them coming Lynn!!
Rating: Summary: FANTASTIC-Must read for romance lovers Review: For several years, Alexander Smith was a very successful corporate raider. However, boredom and loneliness has made him wonder if that's all there is in life? Extremely rich, he quits his job and travels to Scotland to look for something,he knows not what, to ease his melancholy mood. He looks in the private library of his host to see if he can find a different locale that might interest him. Instead he finds an old map that highlights several places in the past and the future as if X marked the spot to a doorway. Bored, he amuses himself by following the map's directions to Barbados, but instead ends up in twelfth century England. Alex wants to go home to late twentieth century Seattle until he meets Lady Margaret of Falconberg, a warrior, who plans to defy tradition by holding onto her ancestral lands. Alex and Margaret quickly fall in love with each other. However, she wonders if he is a lunatic as he prattles about some undiscovered land mass and life at the end of the millennium. Alex finds that his fighting skills, honed from being a corporate raider, helps him deal with marauding raiders. Still, he fears that fate will yank him back home without his beloved Margaret by his side. No writer today does time travel romance as well as Lynn Kurland does. As she does with her current masterpiece, THE VERY THOUGHT OF YOU, Ms. Kurland has the uncanny ability to make her transported individuals seem like the startled, lost souls they ought to be. She also imbues the feeling that time travel is a realistic activity while managing to bring to life Medieval England. Ms. Kurland must have thought of fans from both the time travel and Medieval romance sub-genres when she write this fabulous tale that will enchant anyone who reads it. Harriet Klausner
Rating: Summary: Disappointing and dull Review: I bought this book after reading all these great reviews, so I was completely stunned when it turned out to be a real snooze. It has a great premise, but nothing really happens. The heroine & hero are flat and uninteresting. The dialog is windy and boring. Their romance is bland, inactive, uninspiring, and sloooowww. No spark. A missed opportunity. I tried very hard to stick with it but had to resort to skimming about 1/2 way through. Can't recommend.
Rating: Summary: a must read for the summer, love romance and lots of fun Review: I could not put this book down. i loved the fact that Elizabeth and Jamie and all of there friends were in this book. I read it in 4 evenings and thought about alex and meg while i was at work. My favoirte chapter was 24. Megs moans heard all over the castle and they were from godiva chocolate and not love making. that was so creative and funny. I loved the ending and all the action. Lynn kurland writes with passion and humor. I will continue reading all her books.
