Rating: Summary: Really Great Novel Review: I would recommend this book to any one who would love a great novel on love. It is not your usual sloppy love drama but a real story with drama and charcters that you can get into and relate to. It may be a little hard to get into at first but it is well worth the wait at the end and it will leave you wanting more. I had never read any thing by Colin until I read his novella in Got To Be Real and I enjoyed his work so I had to read this one and Will be waiting for his next work.

Rating: Summary: We all need some Fire in our lives. Review: After having read " Waiting in Vain", I feel compelled to find my destiny. Mr. Channer has a gift for making you a part of the experiences of his characters. The main character, "Fire" is very strong, but he is also a sensitive man who knows what love is, and will settle for nothing less. This ia s very moving story with many twist and turns, but with every turn the story becomes more exciting. I pride myself in reading everything I can, and I can not wait for Mr. Channer's next work. This is truly a must read.
Rating: Summary: Believing in love Review: This is one of the best books that I have read in a while. Many authors examine the type of love that revolves around cheating and selfishness. Mr. Channer showed me that love can be difficult, but everything happens in the fullness of time. If you are beginning to doubt love, please read this book. It made me believe again.
Rating: Summary: The greatest fiction wver written! Review: This story tells the tale of old friendship and new love. The author introduces his audience to musicians and poets that are not that well known. The characters are well written and well spoken. Colin Channer speaks on the politics and problems that plague Jamaica and all countries hat contain minorities. A great find.
Rating: Summary: Go ahead and buy this book Review: This is a great novel. There is not much I can add that has not been said by the other 379 readers who reviewed this book. But I will say that it is interesting that so many of them had reactions similar to mine - the experience of being transported, of having all of my senses engaged, of not wanting the story to end. And most agree that the characters are multidimensional and that Colin Channer is a talented writer whose future work we are eagerly awaiting. My only complaint was the ending, which I thought was a bit too sweet. Otherwise, this book was great entertainment.
Rating: Summary: A Really Good Read Review: I'll be brief -- this was an enjoyable book, well worth reading. Colin's wordsmithing and wordplay was wonderful, the characters were well developed, the flow was smooth, and the plot was, well, solid to say the least. I had heard some women who were not African Americans talk about the book before I read it, and they made all kinds of assumptions, generalizations, and comments that were really off-base. It's not a manual for relationships or another "warning" about "certain types of people!" It is a good book with many excellent elements, however. "Waiting in Vain" treats it's characters with care, painting them with more than superficial brushstrokes. It also treats it's readers' minds and psyches with respect and without disdain. I hope those persons I mentioned read it again after taking a few deep breaths and engaging in a little self reflection. Hey, I wouldn't mind reading it again, myself, and I recommend the uninitiated take a look for the first time.
Rating: Summary: MUST READ Review: This is more than a journey about love for two people but the tale of the kind of self discovery that prepares you for the love of your life. This book will touch you on many levels. There is the love that Fire and Sylvia are looking to find and the love that is already there. The authors vivid descriptions of New York and Jamaica transform you into the world of the characters and give you the platform to take your own personal journey. This is a must read for any and everyone interested in discovering the love of their lifetime and actualizing their dreams.
Rating: Summary: Island Theme Review: Sensual, erotic, sweet, romantic. These words come to mind when I think of this book. I travelled with Fire to New York, London and Jamaica and enjoyed every moment of the trip! This novel had just enough humour and passion to keep me enthralled! The characters were so true to life. The patois brought a smile to my face. I look forward to reading Colin Channer's next novel.
