Summary: Waiting In Vain
Review: I truly enjoyed Colin Channer's WAITING IN VAIN. It is an excellent book that should be read by all. This is the first book in years that actually took me on a journey due to Mr. Channer's magical use of words. I knew I had to have the book when I read the back cover and discovered that I could visit Brooklyn, London and Jamaica - and visit them I did. Using WAITING IN VAIN as my passport and Colin Channer as the guide an enjoyable literary experience was inevitable. He is able to weave unforgetable characters vividly into a part of your memory that willingly accepts them and yearns for more. This book has gathered the essence of mankind and life through the reality that all people want to be loved and to give love. Also this book reminds you that people have an innate ability and desire to care for something and/or somebody. We all have a mission and WAITING IN VAIN allows one to know that it is indeed appropriate to look for both true love and satifaction out of life. I think you should take the time out to purchase this book and read it. Trust me it's like adding another scoop of ice cream to your favorite sundae or noticing that you finally received your last check from that job you left a year ago..lol...get the book you will fall in love with it as I did.

Summary: A feast of words, food, culture and sensuality
Review: "Waiting in Vain" exposes the reader in the various parts of life in Jamaica.
Having lived in Jamaica for a short time and luckily part of the culture in Canada here are some of the things that had an almost emotional effect on me:
The patois, the food descriptions, the mannerisms and details of the various cultures that the novel swiftly passes through.

It took me back to Jamaica and re-energized all the good things about being there. The day to day expressions used by everyone, the food descriptions, the sensuality and the caring between the broad Jamaican family.

A wonderful book, that Americans should read to get a better understanding of the riches that immigrants so often leave behind.

Not only that, it was a pleasant read.

Summary: No Longer Waiting
Review: Dear Fellow Readers:

I very much enjoyed the book, Waiting in Vain. I was impressed with the depth of male honesty displayed in the book. I will not compare but I recently finished a book by a contemporary male writer. Although that book was insightful and entertaining; Waiting in Vain was by far the best. When the book came to an end I found myself not wanting it to end. The character Adrian(Fire) was soulful and a very self aware brother. The development of Ian was genius. The book had love, hate, betrayal, deception, suspense, friendship, envy and jealousy. So many levels, so dimensional as it should be and as life is. I look forward to reading any and all books by this gifted writer, Mr. Channer.

Review: This book is like a savoury delicious meal when you're really, really hungry.
You can't wait to turn the page, but you just don't want that particular page to end because it's sooooo good!
It is so romantic yet one could easily fit him or herself into the lives of the people who live in this story.

Summary: A Fire for all to share...
Review: Colin Channer's book "Waiting in Vain", is more than just a masterfully written piece of literature. More than grammar, language and structure; the realism of the story is what truly makes this novel a "must have". Fire, the main character, is a Jamaican-born intellect and romantic. It is a combination of raw masculinity and feminine sensitivity. He believes in following one's heart and this philosophy has proved to work in his easy going yet successful life. As a writer, he is tuned to characters and therefore surrounds himself with people who are innately good and true.
Although a love story blossoms between Fire and the woman Slyvia; it cannot be defined as just that. More, it is the example of what happens when people forget about societal laws, fear and "old talk" and follow what the heart says. Obstacles that the two face, can be so dire at times that we wonder if "even this shall pass".
Whatever happens, this story; the characters, are relative to real life and to our own stories. It is opportunities that we let pass, because fear controls us. Through this story, via Fire; we can take a chance and stop 'waiting in vain' for the inevitable to happen.

Summary: Great great great great romance
Review: This is a thoroughly enjoyable read. Fire is a man with his roots in Jamaica who meets Sylvia, who is cautious to fall for anyone. The chemistry between them leaps off the page, and I found myself absolutely devouring this book. Fire is incredibly sexy, and I was completely impatient for Sylvia to fall madly in love with him.

It would be easy to write this book off as another dime store romance, but that would really be selling it short. Colin Channer's writing style is so engrossing and detailed, and just lush that you're wisked away into his world, and you really don't want to leave. The bulk of the book is set in New York and London, but the best parts (including the fabulous ending) are in Jamaica.

Definately give this book a try. But I warn you, the men around you may soundly seem lacking after you're finished.

Summary: Inside the heart of a man.
Review: As i read this book i got more and more interested in the main character Fire. He spoke with such passion yet left a little mystery to who he truly was. He was a well spoken man that knew how to speak his heart. More of us need to speak like that maybe it will cut down on some of this male bashing from the women of the world..lol A must read if you follow your heart.

Summary: Thank You Lord
Review: I am so thankful to The Lord for giving me sight so I can read and a mind so I can understand and a heart so I can feel the feelings that this book gave me. Being an aspiring writer myself, I found Waiting in Vain to be just what I needed to help me see the depth of passion that writing can be and how it translates into relationships and life in general.

I truly understand Sylvia's frustration at juggling her needs with her desires and what can happen when a man enters in. Fortunately for her, it was Fire. The rest of us are not always that fortunate, but like another reader commented, this book drives home how important it is to be choosy, yet be open to the possibility of love as it can come in unfamiliar packaging.

I hope I will not Wait in Vain to be able to submerge myself into another of Mr. Channer's novels. I personally am finding the new black male writers to be incredible and as a woman it is a treat to be able to get into the mind of a man and to see how they truly see us women.

Again...Thank You Lord....Peace
