Rating: Summary: You Got Heart Review: Allow me the honor to thank you Mr. Channer for opening your heart so that I may open mine to enjoy life's blessings & tranquility and forget its pain. Waiting In Vain is truly a masterpiece. Each character is reminiscent of life's benchmark, each laughter a reminder of the splendor of love, each frown a memory of a shattered heart. Thank you for sharing your story and providing me with the model of a man I deserve. I love all of you Channer. (Ian, Fire & Louis).
Rating: Summary: Something for the senses Review: It is rare to read a book that takes over the senses but, this one does it .What I enjoyed most about the book was how vivid everything described seemed.Colin Channer writes with the sights, sounds, and smells of real life suroundings. The overall effect was like I had gone on a trip to all the places and spots described. The story had a flow and fullness to it that pulled me in instantly. I couldn't put the book down. I wanted to know more about these people (i still do).I tell everyone I know to read this book.So far everyone loves it as much as I do. I can't wait to read more from this author. THANK YOU Colin please give us another!
Rating: Summary: The book was captivating, sexy and I could not put it down Review: I loved the way Colin showed the poetic and sensual side of Fire, I could not put the book down. It brought back alot of memories of Jamaica for me. There were parts of the book that I would read over and over again . Great book , when is the next one? Nuf Respect!!!
Rating: Summary: I loved this book!! Review: A friend at work told me about this book and loaned me his copy. He was right; It was so much fun, I cant even remember the last time I laughed so hard. Now I have to get my own copy.
Rating: Summary: for anyone who has been love Review: this novel reveals a sense of self. It reveals purpose, and at the same time incorporates love. It takes the reader on a journey filled with passion. It evokes humor, anger, pain, and sadness. It's about real people, real issues, real drama. It's a page turner, that leaves the reader wanting for more.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely breathtaking!!! Review: Colin Channer has outdone himself with this beautiful piece of work, Waiting In Vain. He is so talented the way he poetically phrases everything from beautiful Jamaica to sexuality to death. This book is so breathtaking,I will definintely be reading ALL of his other works!!
Rating: Summary: "Waiting In Vain" is one of my TOP 5 book selections!!! Review: I think I fell in love with this book for many reasons --the sexy love story, the interesting characters, the art world setting, the clever dialogue (my favorite being the words spoken with a Jamaican flavor), and the vivid descriptions. I rarely revisit books, but I recently completed my second reading of "Waiting In Vain." There are several passages that I found so riveting that I have bookmarked the pages so that I may quickly enjoy them again and again. Frankly, I will probably be reading "WIN" often because I thoroughly enjoyed Channer's prose and I think I fell in love with Fire! This is a passionate and intelligent novel that I have been recommending to all of my friends. Mr. Channer has a lifetime admirer!
Rating: Summary: a must read! Review: I looked at and passed this book up for almost a year. Last week I decided I needed a book to read on the plane. My sister went out and bought 2, one for me and one for her. We BOTH fell in love with Fire. I personally wonder, "where are the men in the world with the type of spirit he possesses????" You really get involved with all the characters. An amazingly entertaining AND informative book. If you're an avid reader, there are authors that are suggested and music as well. (take note) Colin, you REALLY did it!! THIS BOOK SHOULD BE A MOVIE!! Even though it's hard to get dollars to back Black films, this one is worth fighting for!!!. I work for a film company and I know. CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE!
Rating: Summary: Realistic and touches many issues that should be discussed! Review: I just finished reading Waiting in Vain and I really enjoyed it. It made me think of the important things in life. The character traits that Fire possesses are admirable; I can also relate to the life experiences that the other character's faced. Channer did a very good job of pointing out, that one must live and follow one's dreams. Love, good health and happiness are the real riches in life. A six-figure salary should not be as important as a six-figure heart that is open and loving. I enjoyed this book a lot. Waiting in Vain had me hooked from beginning to end. This is definitely a MUST READ!!! In this day and age it is rare that people do not judge each other by class or social status, but by character. Channer raises many issues that we as a society should me more aware of and involved in.Continued Success!!
Rating: Summary: In a class by itself Review: Waitin In Vain ...reminds us all that we are always waiting for something or someone....but alas, the waitin shall not be in vain...for FIRE propels us to another level of consciousness. He burns us and reminds us that we are still alive. For those of us who do not know what we want but know what we don't want...we are indeed waiting for FIRE...FIRE destroys...so that we can rebuild...FIRE cooks our food so that we can be nourished..as Stephanie Mills once said...Feel the FIRE...FIRE truly an element...Waitin is truly an orgasmic experience...may GOD continue to nurture Mr. Channer so that he can unselfishly minister to us with his talents and gifts...From the essence of my soul....I FELT IT...thank you
