Summary: Waiting in Vain is Off the Hook!
Review: Waiting in Vain was so captivating - I couldn't put it down. I fell in love with all the characters especially FIRE! He's so warm, compassionate, sensual, tender, affectionate,... I could go on all day. I was so disappointed that it had to end, so I re-read it. Much love, thanks, and respect to Colin for a well written novel.

Summary: Splendid, Great and Captivating!!!
Review: I have recently finished reading " Wating in Vain" which I had purchased for two reasons. One being Colin Channer's origin (Jamacian) like myself and wanted to support him and because E. Lynn Harris highly recommended it. I LOVED IT!!!

The patios were beautifully written. I found myself laughing through them, for I have heard most of the same saying growing up.

Sylvia's relationship with Fire captured me and I was mersmerized by their chemistry and its intensity. For a while I found myself wishing I were Sylvia, so therefore, I became Syliva while reading it.

I too, will be "Waiting in Vain" for your next novel.

You have done a splendid job Mr. Channer. Big up!!!

Summary: This novel does for books what "Love Jones" did for films!
Review: For a debut novel, Channer has exhibited form and fashion that will consistently make for successful works. From the first page to the last, readers are caught up in the wit, charm, and realistic drama of his characters, all of whom remind each of us of someone we know and love. Written with humor, passion, and genuine thoughtfulness, Waiting in Vain allows all readers to relate to the familarities, insecurities, and ambitions of Fire, Sylvia, and Ian. We all experience the joys and pains of love and life at some point in time, so it is absolute that you will rise and fall with trials and tribulations of the characters. If nothing else, you are sure to realize that if you are not willing to make your dreams into realities, then you are truly waiting in vain.

Review: Waiting in Vain is the most wonderful book. Eloquently written. Never before have I read a book and at the completion of reading the book felt so satisfied. There is so much in the book to read about, and learn, and love. Mr. Channer has such a brilliant mind, and he is truly a talented and gifted writer. I look forward to reading more of his work.

Summary: Deep, deep, deep
Review: I loved this book. It was a wonderful change to have this portrayal of a Jamaican bredda. We women know how wonderful and sexy they are, but this character was touching in his emotional depth and his very real desire to be a positive force in his relations with others. Wonderful book! My friend loaned it to me and I loaned to someone. I will be buying a few copies and passing them on to my friends. One love,

Summary: Excellent book for both romantics and skeptics !
Review: Waiting in Vain, is a great relationship novel from a male point of view. It contains characters that you can care about. It's a must read for the "waiting to exhale generation." It's hopeful and inspirational for all of those of us who are still, "waiting in vain."

Summary: Well done, Brotha Channer!!!! A must-read
Review: Waiting In Vain is both lyrical and magical. At first glance, Waiting In Vain appeared to be an easy romance read to help me ease into my Negril, Jamaica vacation. The poetic prose proved to be so much more. Although digestible in a couple of days, I chose to linger over the words for weeks and allow Brother Channer to paint for me an intricate portrait of love and loss and self-awakening.

Fire meets Sylvia . . . first they bump into each other, then they fall into each other, then they fall apart . . . the rest will enthrall you till the blessed end. Set in and between Jamaica, NYC, and London, Waiting In Vain will allow you to visualize each venue with incredible clarity.

Waiting In Vain has been featured in Essence and has received the highest praise from E. Lynn Harris, Diane McKinney-Whetstone, Time Out New York, New York Daily News, the Library Journal . . . and now lil ole me.

RUN, do not walk, to the nearest bookstore and purchase this book. You won't want to share your copy, so encourage your friends to GET THEIR OWN.
