Rating: Summary: Simply The Best. Thank You Colin Channer. Review: Waiting In Vain is the best novel I' ve read in a long time. It grabs your attention and draws you into the lives of it's characters from the frist page to the last. The characters are real and easy to relate to. Fire captured my heart. He is sensative, has a kind spirit and is as hot as his name indicates. Every woman needs to have a Fire in her life. The story is full of culture and takes you from Brooklyn,N.Y., to London, England, to Jamaica,W.I.. Reading about the island and it's people made me home sick. Rating: Summary: A Lush, Lyrical Literary Gem Review: Waiting in Vain was a breath of fresh air after being subjected to recent novels aimed at the African American contemporary fiction "market". Mr. Channer's prose was poetic and lovely. More than just telling a story, Channer created characters that I cared about through deft characterization, rich description and lush language. Anyone who has ever been faced with making fearless choices, risking everything for your dreams and for love, will definitely identify with Fire and Sylvia's struggle and rejoice in their victory. Waiting in Vain is a beautiful example of what contemporary African American fiction should be.

Rating: Summary: WONDERFUL, MAGNIFICENT, A MUST READ. I WOULD READ IT AGAIN. Review: From the beginning, to the end, I was swept away. I've never been to Jamaica but after reading this magnificent book, I felt like I've been there and back. What a great love story with mischief and intrigue all wound up into one. I think Oprah should include this book in her book club. I absolutely loved it!
Rating: Summary: The Best Have Read Review: Waiting in Vain was a one night read for me! I have never read a novel with characters that were so real and easy to identify with. Colin dispells a lot of myths about men being afraid to feel and show emotions with his character Fire. It was a very refreshing read! Real romance and real life. A very good read! Buy the book!
Rating: Summary: Passionate, indulging & makes a woman shout for joy! Review: This book is remarkable and definitely worth keeping in your collection. I loved the poise and grace that was given to exploring the sensuality of women. I could not put this book down. Although the story focuses on the Jamaica and black americans it is a book for all cultures because it does not classify relationships. This is a celebration of love, passion, curiosity, forgiveness and pleasure. I found myself laughing on the train, quoting phrases from the main character and privately flirting with the picture of the man on the cover. This is clearly the work of an author that will be around for a while but make him your favorite now!
