Summary: SIMPLY WONDERFUL!
Review: What a wonderful story! You will be capitivated from the first chapter to the very last word. I know I will NEVER be able to look at a mango much less eat one the same way again!

Colin Channer manages to transport you into the world of Fire & Sylvia with his God given talent to finesse words while creating a beautiful (love) story. Each character were fully developed that you will be able to identify with at least one, if not all of them. I particularly was impress with Fire. He had such a passionate for life and love.

Well done Mr.Channer. I will look forward to your next book.

Summary: Waiting In Vain
Review: This book is another example of the variety of talent in Jamaica. Colin is a very talented writer, he kept me home in Jamaica while reading this novel. I felt what Fire felt and saw what Sylvia saw, it is very difficult to put down this novel but then again, one does not want it to end. Congratulations Colin on behalf of all Jamaicans here and abroad... that lickle yute from Hughenden.

Summary: well worth the wait
Review: whoa, what an exotic, erotic, fascinating read. i couldn't put it down, a real page turner. mr. channer knows what love is all about.he touches your soul while reading,he gets into the souls of his characters, you never quite know if he's drawing from life experience or just his imagination. if his imagination, what a gifted one at that. he has another novel out next year, can't wait. go channer! this "jewel" entertains, as well as informs, but mostly it makes you think of the varying forms of love, and its degrees. there are but a few loves we really experience in life, if we get that lucky. the main characters, fire and sylvia, are so right for one another, she just doesn't know it, or want to face it at first. that's all i can say, read it for yourself. I don't want to spoil it for you. a huge fan

Summary: Lessons in living and loving
Review: This is a wonderful novel and Channer has such a way with words (he'll make you say damn). I didn't want the book to end. There are so many lessons on living and loving you can't help but feel differently about your life in some aspect. If you are, as Iyanla says "In the Meantime" you will really love this book

Summary: Men do fall in love the same way women do!
Review: This is a passionate novel from a male point of view about love, trust, deception and respect within relationships. It will completely captivate you from the first to the last page. Men and women alike should read this book because it shows the romantic and sensitive sides of the man and what is even more refreshing and surprising is that the novel is composed by a man. This book depicts that men desire love and can give love in return.

Summary: A Must Read! Colin Channer has raised the bar!
Review: Wow! This is a great book. What a story. Twists and turns, love and loathing, bliss and despair. It is as if every page is a tree laden with ripe fruit. Colin Channer is a master of the written word, painting murals in the mind of the reader so much so that you feel like you are where the characters are. Written from a man's perspective the vulnerability that is shown in Fire, the main character, is so refreshing. We don't see it enough in real life. The love story is powerful, but there's so much more. This is truly a book to be savored. Or if you can't wait, do a quick power read and then read it again at a more leisurely pace. Each time you read it, you'll be more impressed by the talent of this author. This book is that good. Colin Channer is to writing what Magic Johnson was to the game of basketball. Congratulations to Colin Channer on the publication of his first novel. He scored a triple-double! I can't wait his next one.

Summary: Beautiful!
Review: First of all, I'd just like to thank Colin Channer for giving me hope in knowing that men can be sensitive and that they do have feelings and that they do, and can, want to have a meaningful relationship with one woman.

Colin's character Fire was able to convey his feelings verbally and on paper. I found myself wanting to find a man like that for myself. Although Fire was fictional I completed that book knowing that there is someone out there with at least a few of his characteristics.

Waiting In Vain was more than a boy-meets-girl love story. It explored some tough issues in regards to the type of people we give our hearts to. I saw some of myself in Sylvia, Fire's love interest. It was more than a designer-name dropping novel that has flooded the African-American book market. I was truly entertained and realized that reading a good book is about what the words are saying to your mind and to your heart.

I am so amazed and in awe of Colin's abilities to express himself with the written word. I want to run to the grocery store to buy some mangoes and I definitely want to plan a trip to Jamaica. And that's another thing. I enjoyed the diferent locales, something you don't find in other books. Colin is so doggone talented I am mad at him for not writing a book sooner. Oh,to be in love with a man like Fire! Colin was able to convey the message of love without sugarcoating it and making the reader think it was easy. I couldn't read enough pages fast enough. That book was always the first thing I picked up when I came through the door from work and it was the last thing I reluctantly put down when I went to sleep. I hated for the book to end. When it did end, I had a huge smile on my face. I am not giving up on love, that's what that smile meant.

This was an excellent read. I recommend this to both women and men who are searching for that special someone.

Summary: One Love & Respect to Colin!
Review: This is a must read. Since, I've picked it up I haven't been able to put it down. His writing is free flowing and you actually become a part of Fire, Sylvia, Ian, Lewis, Margaret & Phil. Collin has taken flight. Watch out when he lands! This is a must read again, again and again.

Summary: A different kind of experience!
Review: I had gotten away from reading some of the black relationship books simply because the experiences, first of all, were not mine or ones that I could accept as the inevitable as black relationships go. I've done myself a disservice in some respects having read some pretty shallow writers. One reviewer said she had no intention of buying this book as was the case with me. I just wasn't in the mood for another "woman-with-no-clue -what-she-wants-man-with-only-one-agenda story. Fire jumpstarted the idea in my mind that there are sensitive black men out there who are differently defined and are able to express themselves and love with respect. I enjoyed the book, not so much for the vivid Jamaican imagery, but because it reminded me again that we're all looking for something special. I was glad to see Fire and Sylvia find that in each other. I look forward to the depth of this kind of writing in more of our black writers out there! Thanks to my friend Shanta, who introduced me to Waiting in Vain!
