Summary: Let me stand next to your Fire!
Review: A superb debut from Collin Channer! From the first page, I was hooked. I loved the way he spun the images of Fire and Sylvia, Jamaica and New York into wonderful metaphors. I was there, all the way. I even liked the twist with Ian, though it was tragic. I am looking forward to the next novel!

Summary: No longer Waiting
Review: I immensely enjoyed Colin Channer's book. There was so much sensivity in the book I still find it hard to believe that he is indeed a man. I have read books by men about love, and was very disappointed. The books that I read by otherr men about love just did not touch my heart. Colin speaks to the heart girls, so read this one. I fell in love with the lead character--A BLACK MAN!

Summary: Simple Irresistible
Review: Colin Channer's Book "Waiting in Vain" is simple irresistable. Once I started to read it, I could not put it down. Wherever I was, so was this book. The way the author depicted each characters was phenomenal. As a matter of fact, the way the story was told was absolutely amazing. Colin is a very detailed and gifted writer. Nothing is left to the imagination, as the author paints a detail picture of every scene and every character. This was not your typical love story. Waiting in Vain focused on the trials & tribulation we encounter throughout lifes journey. If you want to travel to Jamaica, England or New York Waiting in Vain will take you there. You will also be introduced to "Fire", the main character, and I am telling you, he really gets your blood boiling! I can hardly wait for Colins' next book. Furthermore I can't wait to find me a man like fire. In the mean time, I am going to read this book again!

Summary: No words can describe...
Review: the way I fell in love with this book. If you ever wanted to travel to England, Brooklyn and Jamaica, read this book, Colin will bring you there. If you've ever experienced love, lust, confusion, pain, read this book because you will have no problem connecting with the characters. Waiting in Vain is the real deal. I've read it once and tonight, I'll start to read it again. Mr. Channer deserves a standing ovation for this piece of art. He is so explict, so detailed, the words jump right off the page and paint a picture for you that is so clear, you will wonder if you've been there before. Waiting in Vain is just an amazing book, and Colin is an amazing writer, but like I said before, no words can describe how I feel about this book, but I'm sure you'll feel the same way after you read it.

Summary: Waiting In Vain
Review: I think that this is a gritty, charming, intelligent and, really very powerfully written first novel.

Using the backdrop of London, Jamaica, Cuba and New York, the book focuses realistically, on the day-to-day trials and tribulations of ordinary people's lives.

Colin channer has given his characters such depth to their personalities which is expressed, colourfully, through the use of poetic language, analogy and metaphor in depicting the way in which they interact with each other. Sometimes positively, and sometimes, with devastating results.

The reader is allowed to access the main character's, Fire, psyche which is expertly done through 'streams of consciousness, reminiscent of Virginia Woolf's highly acclaimed novel Mrs Dalloway.

I did feel that it lingered a little to long, for my liking, in coming to a conclusion - but, that said - it was certainly an ending worth waiting for.

Summary: TOTAL RAPTURE!
Review: Colin Channer takes you from the streets of Brooklyn to the shore of Jamaica in this beautifully written story that leaves you yearning for more! The love scenes are tantilizing and sensuous from beginning to end! Every character came to life in my mind - vivid faces, and voices. I read the book in two days. Are there any Fire's out there? I demand another book! I was disappointed with the last page...... because there were no more pages!

Summary: TITILLATING
Review: If you're thirsty, juice drips off of every page of Colin Channer's Waiting in Vain. He scoops up words like God scoops up clay and breathes life into his characters. The storyline paints a colored and textured picture of real life experiences of love, sex, jealousy, failures and success. I especially appreciate the exposing of a man's vulnerabilities, a treasure that men strive to keep buried. This story delivers a man's soul unmasked and naked. Truely this novel has furbished the tarnished corners of my mind. If your mind can go deep, I invite you to dive into Waiting in Vain, head first!

Summary: Beautifully Written
Review: Waiting In Vain is a beautifully written novel. I easily settled in to the characters and their lives. Mr. Channer makes this easy by drawing you in with every lush detail and powerful imagery. I was transported into the scenes, so that not only did I follow a deeply moving love story, but I took a vicarious vacation as well as the characters traveled the world.I found myself re-reading passages to let the words linger a bit longer and to let the pictures etch a bit deeper in my mind. I cared about the characters and they became friends. Mr. Channer writes with passion and eloquence. This novel is true romance, true passion, and truly good.
