Review: Lose yourself in the pages of this sensual, poetic novel that reminds you that romance can be as breathtaking as a Jamaican sunset. This book explodes with raw honesty that makes you blush at times, but keeps you reading because it is so, so good. Channer's characters exude realism and passion in a novel that exploes the never-ending longings of the soul in a world of corporate dilemmas and the struggle for success. At times, you have to take a step back and question your own definitions of happiness. A great book.

He must have been thinking about "Waiting in Vain" This labor of love wisk us away in fanciful flights of ecstacy from start to finish and we pause in our flight only long enough to ask, when is the next book? Waiting in Vain unfolds a freashing example of unconditional love. A love that knows patience, respect, passion, and is devoid of all cynasicsm. "Fire" as the name suggests, ignites a flame in any woman who knows the true meaning of love. And as I read this book every night, it puts me in the arms of my partner.

Review: A SUPERB DUBUT! This is one book, i just could not put down. It made me cried, laughed and thought about my own dreams. Colin is a very gifted writer. I felt like i was there on every page i turned. It's an excellent book, a definate must have. Colin have a fan for life.

Summary: Waiting In Vain - a breath of fresh Caribbean air.
Review: Colin Channer's novel Waiting In Vain is the best Caribbean story I have read in a long time, and that it is a debut novel points to the fact that this author is a welcomed breath of fresh air in terms of extraordinary talent. His writing style breathes life into the characters. The voices of Fire, Sylvia, Ian, etc. ring out convincingly as voices I would recognize from my own background. A full-bodied story of romance and tragedy with a very sensitive and alluring male protagonist, this story is a definite page turner with language that takes you away to the real world of the characters, and to a deeper perspective of our own real world. Keep up the tremendous work.

Summary: A Nirvana of Passion
Review: Absolutely Superb! One would have to sit for hours to think of the words to justly describe this novel. Let's just chock it up to unquestionably brilliant! Mr. Channer is a master weaver of words. His narration had me following his every lead. In 'Waiting In Vain,' I not only traveled the world, I traveled my spirit as well. Almost every emotion having anything to do with life and love is addressed here.The development of the characters is truly rich and colorful. Mr. Channer transcends the implicit "boundaries" of masculine emotion and brings us Fire, a very accomplished Jamaican writer with passion in his heart and a battle between love & fate on his mind. Sylvia, a seemingly content woman of veiled talent, is the object of Fire's affections. Little does she know to what extent her fateful encounter with this handsome stranger will affect her. Chance arranges their meeting. Fate orders their love. Cirumstance determines their paths. And destiny, well destiny does its thing. (Not to unmask the ending.)This novel definitely invokes some soul-searching... along with hand-clapping, fist-pumping and laughing out loud! Thank you, Mr. Channer, for inviting me into their worlds. It was after reading this novel that I truly acknowledged my passion and desires in life (and love). It is now that I am "in search of" Fire.Very well done, Mr. Channer!

Review: Colin's way with words is absolutely brilliant. His character depictions are so relateable (if there's such a word) and honest. Women will enjoy this book because of its beauty and truth; men should read this book because it comes wonderfully close to unravelling some of the myths about what women REALLY want. A definite must read!

Summary: An awesome read!
Review: How wonderful the feeling to close the back cover of a truly satisfying book. I so enjoyed the experience as this story unfolded. Colin Channer is a true talent in that he so comfortably and confidently reveals a man (Fire) uninhibited by his emotions and his appreciation for the gift of love. My gratitude for all of the lessons that were relearned in this book about the choices we make and how we spend this brief moment we are given here on earth. I recommend this book highly and look forward to clearing a spot on my shelves for his future work.

Summary: Exciting, romantic and funny, an excellent read!
Review: Rarely have I read a book where the characters are so real. A very vibrant and graphic book. Whilst reading, it was so easy to imagine the images/scenes that the writer wished to portray. The analogies used in the book really reflect the black culture, One out of many examples - where the 'yam' is used to portray an image - That was excellent! Waiting In Vain is an enjoyable book which reaches the parts others can't. Well done Colin Channer!
