Rating: Summary: Backfield in Motion Review: Backfield in Motion is a love story between the two main characters Duane "Hitman" Cummings and Asia Heartly. Duane is in his mid 20's and plays professional football while Asia is in her early 30's and is a full-time teacher. Duane is tired of all the hit and run relationships he's had in the past and is ready to settle down and become a family man. Asia Heartly is newly divorced and carrying a lot of baggage. After suffering from one marriage she is reluctant to jump into anymore relationships. After going out on a couple of dates, Duane and Asia decide to give love a chance. Not everyone is happy for the new couple, especially Duane's mother Sylvia. As a mother and business manger, Sylvia doesn't think that it's wise to get involved with a thirty year old divorced school teacher who is just looking for someone to pay her bills. Besides Sylvia already has the perfect woman for her son who is a Maverick cheerleader, a pre-med student and not to mention the same age as Duane. Duane and Asia go through trials and tribulations like any other relationship. Asia learns how to love and let go of the past and Duane learns how to be a successful business man while staying true to himself and his people. The couple is living the life that they both dreamed of and things couldn't get any better. But tragedy strikes and their marriage is put to the test. Is their love strong enough to continue on? Undra Biggs has written a compelling and powerful novel that draws the reader in from page one. Backfield in Motion is about the need for family and friends, and the twists and turns those relationships bring. I found myself laughing out loud and actually crying by the time I finished this book. Guaranteed to keep you going, Backfield in Motion is a sure winner and a must read for all who thought that love is all one needs! I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Ms. Biggs is a great storyteller and creates characters, settings and storylines that keep you on the edge of you seats. An excellent novel that keeps your interest from begining to end.
Rating: Summary: A Job Well Done! Review: Backfield in Motion is another hit for Undra Biggs. This book keeps you on the edge of your seat from the beginning to the end. I read this book in two days and enjoyed every minute of it. The main characters are a professional football player named Duane "The Hitman" Cummings, and his love interest Asia Heartly. But the story wouldn't be complete if you didn't add in Duane's mother/business manager who doesn't like Asia and is doing what she can to keep them apart. Backfield in Motion had me laughing as well as crying because the characters and situations were so realistic, it felt like you were actually involved in the story. This book has definitely earned five stars and is a second hit for Mrs. Biggs!
Rating: Summary: A True Love Story Review: Backfield in Motion is more than a page turner... I couldn't put the book down! Undra E. Biggs did it again! No fairy tale story here; definitely a true love story with all the ups, downs, and anything else that can be thrown in the mix. But love prevails! An awesome, awesome read!
Rating: Summary: You Gotta Know What You Want Review: BACKFIELD IN MOTION By Undra E Biggs I tried to make this book last as long as I could. I liked the family dynamics between the characters. Asia was a loving daughter who took time out to care for her aging parents and Duane was very involved with his entire family. That opened a door to show just what they came from. However, it was the tenacity of Duane's character that pulled me into the story and kept me. Duane was exacting, decisive and determined in what he wanted for and in his life. That kind of tenacity is not common is a man as young as Duane. Duane knew how to be just cocky enough to remind you that he was good at his game. He didn't give the impression that he knew everything. He knew how to be a man without being overbearing. The realistic devotion between mother and son was interesting. It was refreshing to see that they could learn to agree to disagree without being disrespectful to one another. Sylvia's honesty was exceptionally sharp, but that's what made her real. I really liked the husband and wife roles that were laid before us in Duane and Asia. He wanted her and he wasn't afraid of what mommy had to say about his choice of inviting the love that he felt that he deserved into his life from this woman. Duane treated Asia like a woman and it was really cool to see that she wasn't so hurt that she couldn't see herself being in love with him. Asia was cautious but she wasn't paranoid about giving in to love. She knew herself well enough to know that she could give up her career without giving up herself. Asia wore her womanly independence very well. They were human and they both made mistakes, but they were human enough to make you root for them to stay together. They were solid together. Asia had that dramatic realism that allowed her to be whatever she needed to be without becoming a drama queen. She stayed true to herself. Asia wasn't a pushover. After reading Ms. Biggs' first book, I was waiting to see what she would do next, and it's nice to see that she didn't disappoint me. She gave me a story worth reading again. I really liked this book.
Rating: Summary: A must read Review: I read Ms. Bigg's first novel and was eagerly anticipating her second novel, I was not disappointed. This book deals with the life of a football player, his wife, and his overbearing mother. If you are looking for a must read, this is the book for you.
Rating: Summary: Not as good as I thought it would have been Review: I think maybe I bought the book because her first novel "When You Look at Me" was off the hook. I was almost finished "Backfield in Motion" when I suddenly lost interest. Not bad but definitely not that great.
