Review: "Suddenly" was the first romance book I ever read and I immediatly fell in love with her writting. The characters were people I wanted to know personally. I recommend this book to everyone.

Review: Candace Camp is one of those authors who has the magic to suck you into the story. You can actually feel, smell, and TASTE what is going on. This book becomes an obsession to find out what's on the next page. I urge anyone who loves historical romance to pick this up. The heroine is a character you can really grab onto. Charity is so full of life, you find yourself smiling. The hero is of course dark and brooding, but he literally melts with Charity. The story is witting and engaging. A must read!!!

Review: Take an idea and book by Georgette Heyer ("A Convenient Marriage" I believe) complete with all the contents of the the Heyer book: the heroine asking the hero to marry her instead of her sister, the hero's sister being blackmailed by the cad, and several misunderstandings. Add in a good murder mystery and you've got a great book!

Review: When I buy a romance novel, that is what I generally look for. A good romance.
Camp likes to add in blatantly unchallenging "mysteries" into her stories, where the reader has figured out who the "murderer" or "mystery" is long before the characters do. The characters seem to be intellient people, but she makes the antagonists so obvious, it's frustrating to keep reading. The love story itself is very good and enjoyable in this book, but the added "mystery" is distracting and takes away from the pleasure of the story. If Camp feels it necessary to clutter the plot with a weak mystery, she should work harder on making the "mystery" more captivating.
Stick to the romance.
