Rating: Summary: Love! Review: Blake Hunter vowed that he would see to it that Melinda Rodgers would abide by the requests in his dead friends' will. Blake always wondered why Melinda married Prescott Rodgers who was old enough to be her father. Everyone in town felt that Melinda married Prescott for his money. Prescott's will stated that Melinda had to set up a literacy foundation and married within a year's time. If she failed to do so, she would loose her inheritance. Melinda doesn't understand why her late husband would put such a harsh stipulation in the will. She will try her best to do what is asked of her. The only thing that really made her uncomfortable was working so closely with Blake. She has always been attracted to the handsome attorney. Blake learns alot of things about Melinda that changes his mind about her. Melinda is falling more in love with Blake, the more they work together. Blake also learns alot about his dear friend Prescott. Blake doesn't want to disgrace Prescott's memory by falling in love with his wife. He also doesn't want to see Melinda marry anyone else. I was glad to see the mending of the relationships with Melinda and her parents. Also with Blake and his father in Alabama. My favorite novels by Ms. Forster are: Sealed with a Kiss, Beyond Desire, Against all Odds and Fools Rush In.
Rating: Summary: the perfect love Review: Blake Hunter, Atty at Law is executor of his friend Prescott Rodgers estate. When the older, reclusive and wealthy Prescott married young Melinda Jones the small town of Ellicott City let gossip and speculation determine her motives. Now widowed, Melinda Rodgers is still the focus of gossip, especially with the stipulations Prescott left in his will. Although Melinda was not in love with Prescott she cared for him and knew he cared for her, so she was lost as to his motives of having her marry within a year of his death and set up a charitable foundation before she could claim his inheritance or risk losing it. Melinda has no plans to yeild to the pressure of marrying for anything but love this time around. Melinda and Blake kept check of their deep emotions for one another and because of their respect for Prescott they also kept those emotions hidden from each other. Now having to work so closely together setting up the board for the foundation their stirring emotions refused to be held back any longer. Blake must let go of his suspicions of Melinda as they find themselves faced with more than their irrepressable desire for one another. Emotional baggage, reputations assualted and safety jepordized, they must come to terms with their hearts and learn to trust completely in their love. I enjoyed the fullness of the secondary characters Rev and Mrs Jones, Mr and Mrs Hunter, Rachel and John....
Rating: Summary: Hot Steamy Romance Novel Review: Gwynne Forster's romance novel, Scarlet Woman is truly a winner. Forster is very descriptive in her writing. From the beginning to the end, this book is filled with some hot love scenes and should have been labeled "read at your own risk" below the title. Layered with high drama and suspense this novel proves to be a good read. Forster also deals with current issues in her book such as Dyslexia. The story takes place in a small town called Ellicott City and revolves around three main characters, Melinda Jones, Prescott Rogers, and Blake Hunter. Melinda is a young and beautiful African American woman who teaches English at the local high school. Prescott Rogers is an elderly self-made inventor who has made a fortune dealing with Film-developing and contact lens and fluid however, he has a secret: he lives his life as a recluse because he is Dyslexic. Blake Hunter, tall and handsome lawyer and executor of Rogers's estate has many personal issues to deal with. Melinda and Rogers enter into a marriage of convenience and live happily together for four-and-a-half years before Rogers dies. During the marriage Melinda and Blake develop deep feelings for each other but do not act upon them. When Rogers dies Melinda is shocked to the core when she learns about the conditions of his will. One requires her to set up a charitable foundation and to remarry within the year or lose her inheritance to the charity of Blake Hunter's choice. Somehow the reader is lead to believe that Rogers had some insight into how Melinda and Blake felt about each other. This is where the story heats up as Blake and Melinda take their feelings to a new level. The drama and suspense will keep you anticipating the next move. The storyline is awesome and not so predictable. I enjoyed reading this fast paced romance novel and plan to read other novels by Forster. Reviewed by Dorothy Cooperwood

Rating: Summary: What happened??? Review: I am a big fan of Gwynne Forster's work, I have read all of her books and truly enjoy her writing. So I am sure you can imagine my shock upon reading Scarlet Woman! The book is below, way below Ms. Forster's writing standards. This book lacked everything, romance, suspense, drama, believability. It was simply sex and silliness. Truly a dissapointment. Ms. Forster did you really write this?
Rating: Summary: Another great story from Gwynne Forster Review: I truly enjoyed Gwynne Forster's Scarlet Woman, with it's themes of small-town smallmindedness. forgiveness and finding and nuturing true love. Gwynne is a master storyteller whose work never disappoints. I am so looking forward to her first mainstream, When Twilight Comes, that will be out in February.

Rating: Summary: wonderful relationship drama Review: In Maryland, sixty-eight years old wealthy genius Prescott Rodgers asks the local school to send him a student to read the classics to him. Prescott suffers from dyslexia, but no pupil wanted anything to do with an old man. High school English teacher Melinda Jones, feeling sorry for the senior citizen, starts coming over two to three times a week to read to him. After awhile, Prescott offers Melinda a marriage of convenience, which she accepts. They marry in his lawyer's office and she soon becomes known as a goldigger. When Prescott dies, a mourning Melinda learns from his attorney Blake Hunter that his will has two stipulations. He wants her to start a literacy foundation and she must marry within a year to inherit anything. Melinda has no problem with the foundation and feels it would be a tribulation to honor her spouse. However, marriage is a different issue even though Blake has been a temptation ever since the day she married his client in his office. A contemporary marriage of convenience starring a SCARLET WOMAN may seem like a stretch to modern romance fans, but talented Gwynne Forster makes it plausible through her strong characters. The story line centers on the struggles of Blake and Melinda with the passion and feelings both denied while Prescott lived. The engaging plot succeeds because Blake, Melinda, and their thoughts on Prescott make all three protagonists seem real and filled with human feelings. The SCARLET WOMAN is actually a wonderful relationship drama that will provide much delight to readers. Harriet Klausner
Rating: Summary: CAN'T STAND A WAFFLING MAN Review: It started off good, I was looking forward to reading it but as I continued to do so, it became tedious. I forced myself to finish. It had all the makings of truly good read. The plot was great and the characters were interesting. Or so I thought. The Blake character waffled too much, sometimes he loved her, sometimes he didn't. A very irritating trait in any man. Melinda was somewhat interesting but her accepting attitude towards Blake's indecision reminded me of a floor mat. I really enjoyed Ms. Forster's earlier books and this one will not stop me from reading any future ones, however, I'd skip this one and go read "Against the Wind" were I you. It's one of her best works.
Rating: Summary: Great read! Review: Melinda Jones Rodgers, high school English teacher, has lived her life according to the dictates of the town residents and her minister father. When older, wealthy Presto Rodgers asks her to marry him, she feels obliged to repay this kind gentleman for the peace of mind and refuge he has given her. She marries him and keeps his secret but there is a price to pay. At Prescott's death, there are provisions in the will that are puzzling to Melinda and to Blake Hunter, attorney and executor of the estate. Now it appears Melinda must not only set up a foundation for literacy, she must marry within a year. Almost from the beginning Melinda and Blake have held an attraction for one another, but neither knew how the other felt during Melinda's marriage to Prescott. Now there is nothing standing in their way except Blake's stubbornness and mistrust of Melinda. Ms. Forster as usual weaves her magic of sexual tension between the protagonists in an upper-middle class African American culture leaving the reader breathless with soul-shaking loving. The only thing is one might wonder at the strong resentment the townspeople feel for a young woman who has done nothing to deserve this treatment.
