Rating: Summary: Possibly the worst book ever Review: Normally, I am a big fan of Red Dress Ink chick-lit books. This was a huge disappointment.
The concept was cute (last-hurrah holiday prompts overworked law student to contemplate life - if only someone else had written it!) but the characters were never really developed, the progression of the story was predictable... which happens in a lot of chick lit, but this lacked any clever dialogue or anything to make up for it.
If you need a travel chick lit book, go for Backpack, Wanderlust, or Bridget Jones the Edge of Reason over this one.
Rating: Summary: This will make you long for a vacation with the girls!!! Review: Such a fun, quick and easy read, you will love it! Being a "twenty something" who works the nine to five grind and way too often ponders the meaning of life, it made me want to round up my girlfriends and get away for a few weeks! The book has a fair share of drama, but manages to keep it light and show us the fun side of Rome and Greece! Pack your bags!!!
Rating: Summary: Great book many women can relate to. Review: The book was great, I couldn't put it down. I felt like I was there with the characters in the book. I thought Laura Caldwell did a great job with even the minor details to get you to feel what the characters were feeling. It was an exciting book that I think most women can relate to. I can't wait to read more from Caldwell.
Rating: Summary: GREAT...The Red Dress Ink GETS BETTER AND BETTER Review: The Red Dress Ink company keeps on sending the best books out! Confessions of an ex-girlfriend also excellent! But this one..mann! I totally recommend. Great friendship story that is completely true about girls. Girls really act this way its scary. Like Sex and the City on TV! GREAT!
Rating: Summary: A Great Read! Review: This book is exactly what I was hoping for and more. It was a great ride with three well-developed characters on an emotional, adventurous and for all its uniqueness, a still recognizable journey. The locations were described with such lush visual detail that I felt I was a part of the crew and I really enjoyed the funny human moments. I think I was expecting something that was more like a great travel or vacation book, but this one had some substance to it as well -- it was more than an entertaining read. While the story was engaging, it was also relatable to the growing pains of relationships and the challenges we face as we move on in our 20s and 30s and try to maintain relationships or in some cases reconnect with our best friends. Read this book. You will not regret your choice!
Rating: Summary: Easy reading Review: This book is nothing more than a quick, amusing story, and it doesn't pretend to be. Casey and her two best girlfriends vacation first in Rome, then in the Greek Isles for three weeks after Casey takes the bar exam but before she starts working 14-hour days at her heavy hitting law firm. While on vacation, Casey faces resentment from her friends, who feel that she has been neglecting them in favor of her boyfriend for the past two years. She also gives in to her weakness for Italian men and enjoys not one, but two, relatively innocent flings.I am a lawyer and I can appreciate the sense of dread that you are going to spend all of your time at your desk for the next 30-odd years. I also can appreciate the sadness of friendships that crumble due to scheduling and neglect. Caldwell writes in a smooth, pleasant style which allowed me to devour this book in about an hour and a half. I liked her descriptions of Italy and the beautiful islands of Greece. It made me long for a vacation with friends. The one thing I did not particularly enjoy was the author's depiction of one of Casey's friends, Lindsay. Her criticism of Casey was a little heavy handed and prolonged. If I had been Casey, I wouldn't have put up with lecture after boring lecture while I was on my last pre-professional vacation. However, this was an enjoyable read if not an overly memorable one. All I sought was entertainment and a happy ending, and Caldwell delivered.
Rating: Summary: LOVED! Review: This book was a little slow to start but once it got started, i really got into it. This isnt the typical chick lit book or red dress ink book. This is because this book does not follow the typical girl chases guy storyline. This book is about self discovery for the main character, Casey. Casey is on the brink of her career and is about to start practicing law at a great firm. Also, she has a long time boyfriend whom she is starting to feel distant from. Casey takes a vacation with her two best friends and it ends up being exactly needs even if she may not realize it. This book was very refreshing and definitely highly recommended!
Rating: Summary: Failed attempt of independence Review: This book was extremely disappointing. It may be somewhat entertaining for someone needing a bland vicarious Greece vacation, but the story was formulaic. Characters include the "is he right for me" boyfriend, charming Italian hunk, flirty girlfriend and the narrator who has just graduated Law school. Can our Casey really start to work 15 hour days at the firm? Especially when she's having this much fun? I'm sure she can figure it out, or maybe she hasn't been watching Lifetime for women.
Rating: Summary: My First Red Dress, Inc. Novel Review: This book was okay, just not the most memorable. This is the kind of book that you read when you're stuck in the airport waiting for a delayed flight and there's nothing else to do. Casey Evers is a 26 year old girl who is on the brink of responsible adulthood; she has just passed the bar and is poised to begin a promising career at a posh Chicago law firm when she and her two best girlfriends decide to try to re-connect and have one last hurrah before real life sets in. You see, Casey, Lindsey (Sin) and Kat have been an inseperable trio for ten years but things havereally changed in the last two years or so since Casey has become involved with John. Both Sin and Kat have noticed that the certain sparkle in Casey's personality has greatly diminished. Even Casey herself notices that things have been off between her and John lately. This novel follows Casey as she struggles to put her friendships and herself back on track.
