Summary: A chic-lit book with some depth
Review: Finally a chic-lit book that has some substance, along with tongue and cheek fun.

Burning the Map reminds me of my post college days in such a real manner that I felt like it was only yesterday. Memories of those years are typically fond. Many times, people wish they were living that life again--forgetting that although those days were wild and free, they did bring struggles and growing pains with it.

Caldwell brings back the fun of being that age again--yet reminds us that even in our 20's, things are not totally carefree!

That is the good news. A book that brings reality to the pages in an entertaining and sometimes laugh out loud way--offering life lessons that are subtle, yet impactful.

You will savor every page.

Summary: Surprisingly thought-provoking
Review: I borrowed this book from my roommate looking for a fun, light summer read and not really expecting anything more. That was how she described it. Little did I know that it would drive me to reflect upon my own life choices.

It's so strange how sometimes a book can feel so close to heart. Going through the same confusion and doubt that comes once you are out of school, combined with estranged friendships and imminent relationship break-ups, I felt like Casey's thoughts were mine on paper. To top it all up, the fact that the gorgeous descriptions of the Greek isles reminded me of my own Greek island, made this book anything but a "light" read for me.

Laura Caldwell uses some wonderful descriptives, and writes with a realism and honesty that you rarely find in books like this. I really connected with the heroine and her struggles. This is not a book that I'll just file way never to think about again. I'm going to buy my own copy so I can refer back to it often. "Burning the map" inspired me to burn my own map too.

Summary: a must-read for 20somethings
Review: I first picked up this book because of the travel references to Italy and Greece. But I soon learned that it was more than the settings that I was impressed with. This book is unlike any other chick-lit novel. Any girl can easily identify with Casey, who is trying to find herself in the world. This became a story, not merely about female bonding, but about self-reflection and self-discovery, things that I'm sure any other young woman in her 20s can easily relate to. I found so many similarities between myself and Casey, that I'm confident that others will also.

Summary: Perfect Summer Read!
Review: I initially looked at this book because of the "Big Ten" connection, as well as the travel aspects, having been to Greece and wanting to go to Italy. I thought it would be mostly about the trip and scenery, so I started it on a Saturday evening with TV going in the background. I got so caught up in the character development and relationships, that I turned the TV off and sat there reading it until I finished. Very rarely do I find a book that I literally can't put down! Caldwell made me feel as if I was one of the girls and was right there with them. It's a fascinating character study of Casey Evers and her 2 best friends who are trying to regain what they've lost, as well as a look at Casey's relationship with her boyfriend, her family and her chosen career field. I highly recommend this book and can't wait until Caldwell's next book is released.

Summary: An ok read.
Review: I just couldn't get into this book. The heroine TOLD us that she had changed over the last couple years, into an unhappy/dull person but I just couldn't FEEL it. She is having a blast on her vacation and I just couldn't see her as boring.

The heroine, Casey, takes a a European vacation with her two best friends. The friends have grown apart and Casey is ready to rekindle the friendships. Casey resolves her issues by the end, although I would've liked to have seen her back home initiating her new life. I would've also liked to have seen something great happen to Sin, since she seemed to be struggling throughout the book.

The girls' adventures were fun, I loved reading about Rome and the Greek islands. I thought this was an ok read, but would recommend Caldwell's second novel "A Clean Slate" over this one.

Summary: The Perfect Brain Vacation
Review: I LOVED this book! This book is perfect for a vacation or just a mental escape from your daily life. The Italian and Greek settings are described so well, you can almost picture yourself there. This book is not for someone who can't let their hair down and just get lost in the story.

Summary: Simply fabulous!!
Review: I loved, loved, loved this book. I am a big fan of travel and I totally felt like I was in a different place with this book. I am now making plans to travel to Greece to see if I can experience some of what these girls went through. I definitely recommend this book if you need a vacation but don't have the time or money to travel right now!
