Rating: Summary: A Must Read! Entertaining Review: I couldn't put this book down. It was so well written and I am anxiously awaiting Jill Winters next book. Hurry Jill!!!
Rating: Summary: Sexy and hilarious! Review: I LOVED this book! Plum Girl was one of the wittiest romantic reads I've enjoyed in a long time. The protagonist Lonnie was a sarcastic sweetheart type, her sister Peach was a delight, and the mystery surrounding the strange death of her boss had some fun-filled twists. I honestly didn't know what to expect of Plum Girl, especially with a first-time author, but I was pleasantly impressed. Highly recommend this read!
Rating: Summary: Breezy, sexy read with quite a bit of heart. Review: I really loved this book. I stumbled upon it quite by accident and then I did not want it to end! It was a very breezy, funny book. The main character Lonnie was very likeable and I found myself relating to her quite a bit. I thought the romance and mystery blended quite well and the sex was rather ~hot~. I will definitely look for more from this author.
Rating: Summary: Funny, witty, sexy! Review: I'm am soo glad I picked this book up! It had me laughing throughout! There was comedy, mystery and romance all rolled into one great read! For this being the first book writen by Jill Winters, WOW. I will definitely be looking for her next book Blushing Pink which comes out spring 03. If you haven't picked up this book yet...I highly recommend you doing so!
Rating: Summary: Odd Man Out Review: It must be me. I fought my way through this book. There were way too many odd ball characters. There was not one normally functioning employee at Lonnie's office. That didn't work on television for me, and it falls flat here. A few idiosyncracies are great for comic relief and to move the plot along, but a chronic diet of them strains the plot.Too much time was spent on the insanity at Twit and Bell and too little time on the romance between the characters. The murder of one of the partners was glossed over and barely noticeable. It could have been petty office theft for all the impact it made on the story. I did like Peach and her interference in Lonnie's life, but she wasn't around enough to make the book more enjoyable.
Rating: Summary: Crusie fans are gonna love this! Review: Lonnie is a well-educated woman who can't find a job. Feminist theory doesn't open up a lot of job opportunities, you know. So, she is temping at Boston law offices of Twit & Bell. Surrounded by strange characters from the pompous, obsessive Twit, who can't remember her name, to the friendly, but suspicious Marcy. BJ, the liar, Matt, the schmooze, Lunther Bell, the lurking partner, and his vindictive, vicious assistant. Lonnie is managing to cruise through her days there, but the nights are tough, especially with her immature boyfriend Terry, the stand-up comedian, living in New York. And then there is Dominick, the sexy computer guy who works at the firm two floors down from Twit & Bell. He is sweet, considerate, and sinfully good-looking. And Lonnie is confused. Good thing her sister Peach is there to help. When Lunther dies in the middle of the firm Christmas party and the irritating Detective Montgomery enters the picture, the cast of characters is complete. This book is a must for any Crusie fans out there. It is wry, funny, a little dark, and doesn't always run on the expected romance lines. There are some eccentric characters, not all of which are completely developed. Some of them get a bit confusing, and seem a bit on the static side, as if they are only there to serve their plot purpose. Motivation doesn't seem a priority for Churchill, but the book was great nonetheless.
Rating: Summary: Fun Contemporary Romance Review: Lonnie Kelley and her younger sister Peach have been best friends since they could remember. They live together, and share each other's thoughts on boyfriends, work, and life in general. But when Lonnie's demanding boss, Beauregard Twit, mysteriously dies, she decides that it's up to her to investigate his death. In the meantime, she needs to think of a good way to break-up with her semi-long distance boyfriend, Terry. So she can start seeing Dominick, the guy who "sends her into a meltdown of raging lust in seconds flat." This is a hilarious contemporary romance. Readers will enjoy the relationship between Lonnie and her quirky sister Peach, and relish in Lonnie's hilarious commentary. Fans of "The Boy Next-Door" written by Meggin Cabot will love this novel, and vice versa. A must-read. Erika Sorocco
Rating: Summary: Great Beginning, Middle, but the ending needed work Review: Lonnie Kelly the star in Jill Winter's "Plum Girl" has found herself working as a temp for Beauregard Twit of Boston's Twit and Bell. One day she meets up with Dominick a man she knew from college, who now makes her heart beat faster. But things are not so good at Twit and Bell, and after Lonnie and Dominick find one of the senior partner dead its up to them to the killer. I really enjoyed "Plum Girl" up to the last twenty pages. It seem that Ms. Winters was rushed in finishing this book, it really did make sense. "Plum Girl" is a good book, but don't expect the endind to be great.
