Summary: Wicked Widow
Review: I was so excited when I found out Amanda Quick was coming out with a new novel. Wicked Widow is wicked and brilliant. I love her strong heroines and her powerful heroes. Madeline is a widow who hires the services of Artemis to help her find the man who's masquerading as her husband's ghost. Artemis is at first unwilling to help her, and Madeline hates everything Vanza. But neither can deny the strong attraction they feel for each other as they work together to solve the mystery of the man disguising himself as his wife's dead husband. Amanda Quick is brilliant in her work. She takes the subject of Vanza and makes each book different. Each book gets better and better. If I could cast this book, Madeline would be played by Gwyneth Paltrow and Artemis by Billy Zane. What I like about Madeline-she is strongwilled and very smart.What I fault about her-She does tend to be a little dramatic. What I like about Artemis-He is powerful and smart. What I fault about him-He treats Madeline as a man treats a woman in those days. He thinks she should sit at home and wait. Favorite scene with Madeline-She and Short John are kidnapped and she is very strong in saving herself and especially Short John.

Summary: A slight dissapointment...
Review: I have been a constant fan of Amanda Quick'swork for a while now... I always await impatiently for her nextrelease... However, her latest novels have left me not quite satissfied..AFFAIR, I THEE WED...and now the WICKED WIDOW are among this unfortunate rank.. Madeline Deveridge is dubbed the WICKED WIDOW in the polite society..and with good reason too..she may have killed her husband in cold-blood! The plot of the story is weak and quite predictable..it depends solely on the villains to support it..Vanza philosophy becomes quite redundant The characters are sadly underdeveloped...they lack lustre and refinement Perhaps something which slightly redeemes this story after all is that dash of humour that Ms. Quick's works are usually sprinkled with.. Give it a chance..perhaps you might form a different opinion... As for me..despite all recent dissapointments, I yet retain a loyalty towards Amanda Quick..If you pick up one of her earlier works such as SEDUCTION,RAVISHED,DESIRE..etc..the evidence of an immense talent will shine through... I await to be surprised END

Review: I had never read one of her books before and this really sparked my interest. I love a mystery and this had it all. Mystery ,Romance, and suspense. I would reccomend it to anyone whether you love fiction or mysteries.

Summary: Amanda Quick is one of my comfort authors!
Review: I enjoy the cadence of her writing and her eccentric characters. The Wicked Widow was no exception. Artemis Hunt is a practitioner of Vanza and has spent the last five years plotting revenge against the men who killed a friend. Madeline Deveridge is a widow suspected of murdering her husband, a husband who appears to have come back from the dead. When Artemis and Madeline meet they find that not only their passions are enflamed, but circumstances around them are heating up. A killer is on the loose, a mysterious Vanza book is being sought, and Madeline and Artemis are falling for each other. Wicked Widow was another delightful regency romp by Quick.

Summary: Be careful what you ask for...
Review: I kept asking when a new Amanda Quick was comming out. Well you know what they say "Be careful what you ask for..." I guess I should have asked when a Good, entertaining and uncliched Amanda Quick was coming out. I feel cheated and am glad I didn'g pay the publisher's price for this DUD! I hope she is working on a good book for next time.

Summary: OK if you've never read her earliest books
Review: Unfortunately, all Amanda Quick's recent heroes and heroines seem like exactly the same people. There's not much here to differentiate this book from Mischief, Affair, or the last two books. If you enjoyed couples such as Augusta and Harry from Rendevous or Gideon and Harriet from Ravished, you'll be disappointed. In addition, the constant references to Vanza drive the reader insane...I think the word appears on every page! However, it is a quick, effortless read, and I WAS surprised by the identity of Madeline's husband's murderer.

Review: I've read every book Amanda Quick has written and this one just isn't up to her usual standards. It's still an enjoyable read, but you might want to wait till it goes to paperback. There were one to many similararities to previous books of hers.

Summary: Take it BACK
Review: I usually buy all of Amanda Quick's books as soon as they come out. This book intrigued me based on the book description. But please, it seemed that every other sentence refered to Vanza. I really think she went overboard with this mystical and magical Vanza c--p. Her books used to be so witty and funny. I will seriously rethink buying her books from now on.

Summary: Could the old Amanda Quick please come back?
Review: Having been an Amanda Quick fan from the beginning(Seduction is a wonderful book) I am saddened by the deterioration reflected in her last 4-5 books. Her earlier books were characterized by intricate plots and layers of character development. Her heroes and heroines had depth and in fact were people you wanted to invite for dinner. I stopped buying them( I get them from the library) several books ago. Having just read the Wicked Widow, I am now going to stop reading them.PS, is it my imagination or have all successful paperback authors undergone similar transformations as they move to hardback? Elizabeth Lowell is also quickly degenerating as well,

Summary: Tepid, bland, dull, boring and DISAPPOINTING!
Review: I am a long-time fan of the Amanda Quick offerings from Jayne Ann Krentz, and the arrival of a new one is usually an excuse for an early night to read it cover to cover. What a blow Wicked Widow is! Tepid, bland, dull, boring, DISAPPOINTING! I finished it in 3 1/2 hours! The Widow was not nearly wicked enough,in fact, I found her to be quite one-dimensional. Her hero was more interesting, but still not up to the standards of previous books. The minor characters were a dreary lot too, and, although the plot is not the main attraction in a romance novel, a bit of one one would have been nice. Other readers are right. Recent books have not been up to the standard set by early titles. Is Amanda just churning them out for her publisher and bank manager? Has she called in an uninterested co-writer to help her? Mistress was the first one I read, and still my favourite. Perhaps I'll take that to bed tonight. Even after many reads its more fun than this Widow was!
