Rating: Summary: Love at First Bite: A Vampyre Romance Review: Have you ever fantisized about necking with a vampire? What about having one gallantly kiss your hand and in the process, nibble at your wrist? If you ever have, A Darker ream, by Amanda Ashley is for you. In this blood tainted tale, everything seems pretty stereo-typical of all romances until the reader discovers that Lord Rayven has purchased a beautiful girl not to drink from her red lips, but to drink from her white neck. That gives an interesting twist to the novel that other romances don't usually have. The unfair prejudices of her family and friends creates a bit of a conflict, and the ever-seeking, always lonely nature of the vampire is a problem that has to be dwelt with also. Of course, the heroine, Rhianna, soon looses her fear of Rayven and lovingly supports him throughout the story. One other interesting character in A Darker Dream is the hero's cloak, an inanimate object that really isn't lifeless. In the end, the message of this book is that love conquers all when one is willing to sacrifice everything. The reasons I really enjoyed A Darker Dream were the elements of surprise throughout the book and the editions Ms. Ashley made to the vampire legend. She didn't try to copy the original ideas of Vampire author Anne Rice, which was very refreshing. The vampire legend hasn't been covered by thousands of romance authors like so many other subjects have. Yes, the hero and heroine look pretty typical of most romance characters, but if they weren't would romance genre fans want to read about them? Lord Rayven can do tricks that would put Fabio in the dust: He canread the heroine's thoughts and by glancing at Rhianna he can turn her on (wouldn't we all love a man like that?!). If you enjoy a well developed plot and you aren't squeamish about a little "blood lust," be sure to read A Darker Dream, by Amanda Ashley. It'll give you chills and thrills simultaneously! -Kathleen Cash
Rating: Summary: Sigh! Review: I have read all of Amanda Ashley's vampire romance books and have enjoyed every of them. When I bought the first one, I wasn't sure I would like vampire romance, but I was happily surprised. I just finished reading "A Darker Dream" and loved every minute of it. Rayven swept me off my feet. Please keep writing them, Ms. Ashley.
Rating: Summary: 1 dimensional characters and no plot - disappointing Review: I have read Maggie Shane's Twilight Series and enjoy vampire romances. However, this book lacked a plot. It was the same situation from start to finish. Him: I love you but can't have you cause I'm a vampire Her: I love you and don't care. Him: I love.. etc. You don't truly experience the characters feelings or thoughts. The vampire's life is glossed over. There is little interaction with other characters. These people don't do anything throughout the book. I kept waiting and was never rewarded.
Rating: Summary: Magical. You have to read this if you love vampire romance. Review: I have reade every Amanda Ashley book which has been published and intensely enjoyed everyone. If you love reading vampire/supernatural romances, then you must read her books. They are the best.
Rating: Summary: IT WAS EXCELLENT Review: I LOVE THIS BOOK THE BEST I HAVE EVER READ ON VAMPIRE ROMANCES
Rating: Summary: much better! Review: I read Deeper than the Night previously and I was a little disappointed. It was a good book, but it was not what I expected. This was a TRUE vampire book. What can I say about Rayven-too handsome! It is a tale about what people will sacrifice for love. Great book!
Rating: Summary: Disappointing Review: I really, really love vampire romance novels. Having cut my teeth, as it were, on Maggie Shayne's "Twilight" series, I expect my vampire romances to be quick-paced, passionate, emotional, and fun. This book was a huge disappointment. The premise was promising--a "Beauty and the Beast" reworking, complete with an intelligent herione and a brooding evil hero who really is a softie underneath his tortured facade. Unfortunately, Amanda Ashley forgot to add a plot or meaningful conflict to her book. I felt like I was in a time warp, reading the same scenes over and over again for a seemingly interminable 390 pages. "Oh, I love her so much, but I'm afraid I'll kill her if show her how I feel." "Oh, I love him so much--why won't he show me how he feels?" I believe a love story can be interesting without a villain, but only if the characters move their relationship forward in a meaningful way. This novel just went in circles with the we-love-each-other-but-we-don't-trust-ourselves-enough-to-have-each-other scene. Adding insult to injury, the author also felt the need to liberally intersperse her repetitive prose with some truly abominable poetry. The beginning and ending of the novel were imaginative and entertaining, but I won't be in a hurry to pick up another Amanda Ashley novel any time soon.

Rating: Summary: B-o-r-i-n-g! Review: If there was a lower rating than 1 star, then I'd give this book the lowest! This book had no plot whatsoever! The characters were weak, lacking any true emotion. The author kept on repeating the main characters' feelings for one another throughout the whole book, making if feel as if the story would drag on forever. This book could have ended way earlier if the solution was thought out from the beginning. DUH! Please rent this book. Don't buy it. Waste of money. Also, if you'd prefer a great romantic vampire book, then look to Shannon Drake.
Rating: Summary: A familliar feel with a twist of loving darkness.... Review: My very 1st book from this author and I could not put it down!! It really pulls at your hearstrings at times I had to hold my breath reading parts of the book for fear Ravyen would just let go of his one true love. I found this book wonderful for being a "vampire romance," novel. I would have to say a few times though it almost seemed like something out of beauty and the beast but I would definately read it again. For me I felt the emotions of both Ravyen and Rianna a true meaning of love eternal. Today I bought Deeper Than The Night...hoping it will be just as good check for my review there in a few days!!!
