Summary: Second time through and just as wonderful!
Review: I had read this book of Lori Wick's maybe a year ago but had forgotten it really until I had a strange longing to pick it up and read it again. Oh, it was worth it! Yet again Lori Wick wisked me away into another world. She is realistic, yet has just enough drama to keep me on my toes; even when I know the entire plot! I fell in love with Sunny, Brandon, Holly, Jorden, and all the others all over again. And Sunny's salvation was just as heartfelt and wonderful as ever before, it really brought tears to my eyes. A definate read for anyone who enjoys a wholesome romance...and a to-be classic.

Review: I have read this book probably 15 or 20x since I bought this book and it is my favorite in the series. I love to write short stories along the same line as this and it has been a great inspiration to me. What a wonderful book! I would give it 20 stars if that were possible!

Summary: I Love It!
Review: I really like Lori Wick's style of writing, and think her plots are exceptional. I really liked this book because it mixed Christianity, love, and adventure all together, entwining both the high statesmanship of England, and the wilds of India. I thought Brandon the perfect Christian hero, and Sunny as lovely as a sun itself, though she was spoiled for awhile. It was fun to read about her growing and changing, though I did think that I would have liked their feelings to get out in the open sooner.

Summary: It's Excellent
Review: I thought this book was excellet! The best I've read in a LONG time! Sunny is a wayward girl of 14 years old when she is suddenly plucked from her homeland and everything she knows and loves, taken on a ship, and was told that the man she'd been living with wasn't really her father. From then her world turns upsidedown as she is trying to live in England. Can Sunny really fit into a culture she knows nothing about? You must read this book it is excellent and I couldn't put it down!!! I'm a teen age girl and I loved it and think every other teenage girl will too!!

Summary: read my review!
Review: I was not a big reader, before spoting The Hawk and the jewel in christian supply. After reading just the first chapter i couldn't put it down! After finishing it in about two days i called up christian supply and ordered the whole series! they are the BEST! i loved all of them. 1 have now started to read the rocky mountain series also by Lori Wick. Lori Wick is interesting, more interesting than most regular authors, and the fact that it is christian books she writes is just a big bonus! if u like England read this book. I loved England before, but now i want to live there. READ IT FOR YOUR SAKE!

Summary: A brutally honest look at Sunny, the heroine.
Review: In order to be as concise as possible, let us restrain our discussion merely to the heroine herself. Sunny is described as being so beautiful that ever since she was 12 years old, grown men fall in love with her at first sight. However, even though she has a mirror, she is apparently totally unaware of her beauty and hates to have people look at her. Now, I don't know about you, but I don't think a character that daft deserves to have 347 pages devoted to her exploits. Also, it bothers me that throughout the entire novel, Sunny's beauty is a major issue. I know that it is nice to have a heroine who is pretty as opposed to being ugly, but when her dark rippling hair and sparkling violet eyes (oh, please) have to be mentioned every single time she makes an appearance, I think it is going overboard. The message coming across is that her beauty is her most important feature; any intelligence or character that she possesses are just added bonuses. Shouldn't it be the other way around? Shouldn't a person (or a character in a novel) be valued for who they are and their appearance be an afterthought? (Especially since we don't have to see the person and after the initial description we don't care what they look like anyway). Sunny's superficiality is only one of the many unsatisfying things about this stiff, unnatural novel. Frankly, there are much better things you could be doing with your time than reading "The Hawk and the Jewel".

Summary: Intruiging
Review: Lori Wick is my absolute favorite Author.
Her stories have the right amount of danger, romance, and comdedy that book needs. They leave you with a feeling of contentment. The hawk and the jewel was no different. I loved watching Sunny grow up, and become a christian, and seeing her and Brandon struggle to accept their feelings for each-other. also, you can tell how strong a writer's faith is through their books. the bible says, "and you shall know them by their fruits." i think Lori wick has done an excellent job on this book.
