Summary: Shades of Desire! Good Book! :)
Review: I loved this book!! The characters were interesting and the characters "dealt" with some trying issues involving some interracial relationships. I wanted the book to be longer! It was wonderful reading about interracial couples who survived the ignorance of some people and prevailed! More books and films should include the topics of interracial relationships involving all races because interracial relationships occur all over the world. I noticed that on television commercials you don't see interracial relationships and that is not right. Interracial Relationships has been in existence since the beginning of the earth. Monica White is a very good author and if she writes another book I will purchase it!

Summary: Save your money
Review: I read this book in a day, but not because it was good. I read it quickly in the hopes that it would get better. The characters and the plot were unbelievable. The heroine was annoying and the story (minus the sex scenes) read like the novel was intended for teenagers instead of adults.

I love interracial romances and wish that more are published. If you love IRs too, save your money and check out Pamela Leigh Starr's "Fate" and Seressia Glass's "No Commitment Required." Excellence begins and ends with these two authors' impressive works.

Summary: Shades of Desire
Review: I read this book twice. While Ms. White should be commended for exploring the topic of interracial relationships, this particular book lacked depth of the characters and the relationship. Jasmine seemed to be intrigued w/sex with a white man and looked for affirmation for her relationship from her friends and family. She jumped quickly into their relationship and the subsequent engagement and wedding went quickly without a true development of either Jasmine or Jeremy's relationship outside of sex. I think people who know about the trials of interracial/intercultural relationships would ask that authors steer clear of stereotypes and focus a bit more on the reality of interracial romance.

Summary: WORST BOOK EVER!!!!
Review: I recently bought this book, and I must say, I found it terribly dreadful getting through the first chapter. The author is by far the worst romance writer ever! After meeting for the first time, the main character is ready to spend the rest of her life with Jeremy. Feeling arise much too early in the book. By chapter 3, after only one date!, Jermey is already meeting the parents. The love scenes are quick and lack any passion. The plot is weak, even for a 100 page book. Best advice I can give--Don't waste your time with this book. Better yet, stay away from any of this author's work.

Summary: Nothing to rave about
Review: I remember reading this book and I have to say that I didn't like it at all. It was more like watching a soap opera that you can't stand. I thought it would be a great read because there are very few books that have interractial themes between black women and white men. And this book didn't do anything to exite me. If you want to read a good interracial book, try Sandra Kitt's "Color of Love" and Pamela Leigh Starr's "Fate".

Summary: This story was missing that certain something....
Review: I thought this story had all the makings of a good book only if the time was taken to build into the relationship between the two characters. One minute she is unsure about an interracial relationship with him and the next she's head over heels in love with him. I don't think enough effort was put into this book and therefore I was deeply disappointed. :( S. Padilla

Summary: Disappointed
Review: I waited a long time to read this book, and I was truly disappointed. It took me two hours to read and the characters had no meaning to me. Great subject matter, totally unfocused writing.

Summary: Shallow character development
Review: I was disappointed in this book, I was expecting more. I felt the characters were incredibly shallow. In its defense, the book is fairly short, but still...the main male protagonist has NO character flaws, not a single one. Do women really believe guys like Jeremy exist? The plot is fairly predictable, but the fairy-tale ending was a little overdramatized. Also, I felt that the author did not capture the daily struggles a lot of interracial couples go through. With the exception of her problems with her their immediate family and friends, the couple seems to lead an argument and stress-free life. Another complaint I have is that the author simply does not deal with the effects of the interracial relationship on Jeremy and his peers. As a result, Jeremy becomes, in effect, a paper cutout with no depth or believability. Despite all my complaints, it is nice to see a novel that deals with interracial romance. There are far too few books dealing with black women-white men romances, and this book is a welcome addition.

Summary: This book was unsatisfying
Review: I was so excited to read this book because there aren't many books that discuss an interracial romance when the woman is the minority. This book disappointed me, however. The protagonist's character was immature and underdeveloped. The author failed to capture the essence of why these two people were in love with one another other than the fact that they were compatible sexually. The plot moved along like a teen novel. The book was also frustrating because the racial beliefs and the way the women treated each other in this book was primitive. As a woman of color I was a bit offended that others who have read this book would assume we all think like Jazz.

Summary: Very disappointed
Review: I was very disappointed in this book. The characters were very weak and never fully developed. You could not really relate to either characters problems or issues. I would not even consider this book "light reading". Skip it!
