Summary: Another good book
Review: As usual, this story about the Calder family was intriguing. My only disappointment is the casual view of the infidelity of Ty. I had expected more from a family so respectable in other ways.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Muito bom! :)

Summary: Interesting
Review: I love Janet Dailey's books and have read just about all she has written. But on this book I was disappointed to see all the women,Maggie, Jessy and Sally letting the men in their live get away with murder. They take the men's disloyality and don't show any backbone especially Jessy who time and again allow Ty to come back to her after going back to his spoiled wife Tara. I don't care if Tara is beautiful or not he really should have looked deeper at her character. Other than this I enjoyed this book but not as much as soon of Janet Dailey other book. I would look to buy more of her books in the future.

Summary: Janet Dailey Fan
Review: I really enjoyed Calder Born, Calder Bred as a single book and as a generational series. Ty pretty much turned outlike to his father, Cal.

For a series, Janet Dailey did a fantastic job. I have enjoyed all of her books in this series, as a series and as individual books.

The research and knowledge she puts in her books about ranching is fantastic. I come from a farming community, as a young girl, and their were lots of ranches around us. She hit the nail on the head with the way the family career in ranching is done, or at least to the way it was done back then.

Review: Out of all the calder series, I love this one the best. Jessy is the woman all of us would love to be....feminine, tough, ladylike, loyal, beautiful in the way the land needed, not just "prissy". Ty needs someone to stand with him, not to be a "trophy". The loss of Maggie is so difficult; Chase just isn't the same without her; I love seeing Cat grow up and the changes in all the characters. I have even learned to like Culley. The love he has for Maggie and Cat is wonderful and touching. I have been through 2 copies already and will choose this one when i want a real look at the calder's. What a wonderful way to escape.....

Summary: Muito bom! :)
Review: Returning to the ranch at 15, young Ty has a lot to learn and Jessy O'Rourke has the 'know how' to teach him as she knows all about ranching-- doing all the work a man does. He hardly notices her. He goes off the college and falls for a spoiled rich girl, Tara. They marry but she never really likes living on the ranch. Tara's wealthy father plots to get the Calder ranch and turn it into strip-mining. Chase is against this and he and Maggie fly out of town on business and the plane crashes killing Maggie. Chase is hospitalized and heartbroken at Maggie's death. Ty takes over the ranch and will, due to being blinded by his wife's beauty, have financial problems due to Tara's extravagamces. Ranch life gets very complicated as you will read in this 'very very good' saga!

Summary: Feminists Beware!
Review: This is Montana, the vast, wild west where the men are MEN and the women are well, um, not very believable or useful.

Ty Calder was not raised on the vast Triple C ranch owned by his father Chase Calder, but comes back as a teenager to learn ranching and how to survive in this sometimes inhospitable land. He learns a lot from the tough, single-minded ranch hands and his father and also from Jessy O'Rourke , a tom-boy with a crush on Ty. Ty goes away to college in Austin, where he develops a fixation on the beautiful Tara Lee, who is the daughter of one of Chase Calder's business associates.

The men are constantly getting into brawls, or getting drunk, or considering infidelity; and the women are either quiet, timid help-mates, or femme fatales, or, like Jessy, trying to emulate the real men. A typical line is when one of the ranch hands says of Ty's sister, "Cat has some growing up to do; She's still too spoiled to make a good wife." I suppose he's got to break and brand her before he can marry her!

The dialogue is sometimes pretty sappy, such as when Ty's father says "You can only afford to have one mistress outside your marriage, Ty. And that mistress is the land. She'll give you all the satisfaction, and heartache, that you can handle."

In spite of the subservient roles played by women, and the stilted, unrealistic dialogue, I was intrigued by the plot and curious how Ty would resolve the conflict between his passion for Tara and his need for the solidity and understanding of Jessy.
