Rating: Summary: An Indian warrior fights his attraction for a white woman. Review: Anna Wiley and another woman are bringing twelve children west to find homes. The search goes tragically awry when the train is attacked by Indians. A young Indian boy in chains is on this train. When his bullying captors shoot at the boy for fun, Anna hides him under her skirts and saves him. This action saves her and the children's lives, for the leader of the Indian war party is this boy's brother. War Cloud is initially blinded by his hatred of all whites. But soon he can't deny that Anna is a rare woman, and he is immensely drawn to her. He fights his passion, not just because Anna is white. His family has been under a curse for centuries. Women who marry into the family either leave... or die. As time goes on, he fears that should he take Anna to wife, he will be the instrument of her destruction. Even if you don't usually enjoy Indian romances, if you enjoy good writing, try this novel. You won't be sorry.
Rating: Summary: Blah! Review: I absolutely loved Karen Kay's first couple of books such as Lakota Surrender and Proud Wolf's Woman. When her latest books came out, I didn't hesitate to buy them...talk about disappointed! I don't even know where to begin with War Cloud's Passion, I found it that bad. The characters are totally lacking in personality, the plot was merely nonexistent and the continuous "humph" response from the hero grated my nerves to no end. After five or six chapters I skimmed through the rest and tossed it aside. I am an avid reader of historical romance, especially anything that entails Native American history, but this book was boring! My suggestion is that if you want to read Karen Kay, buy her beginning work and pass on the her latest efforts.
Rating: Summary: also blah Review: I agree with the "blah" reviewer. What has happened to this author? Her first books were great but she's been going down hill for the past 4. This one doesn't break the trend.

Rating: Summary: I hate to write a bad review, but... Review: I love Indian romances and I thought that this one would be no exception. Boy, was I ever wrong! Could it be any more poorly written? This is my first and last Karen Kay book.
Rating: Summary: Blah! Review: In 1869 on the journey west to place the orphans in good homes in Hays, Kansas, New Yorker Mr. Bilsworth dies in Kansas City. Before passing away, the dedicated Bilsworth obtains a death bed pledge from Anna Wiley to finish their trek to find good homes for the children. After a period to insure no one else caught Mr. Bilsworth illness, Anna and the children board a train that includes a prisoner, the younger brother to the dangerous War Cloud. When the Indian eludes his jailers, the very tall Anna hides him under her long dress. Her kind action proves fruitful when War Cloud attacks the wagon train she is now on and agrees to escort Anna and the children to a white community. As they journey together, Anna begins to learn the way of the Cheyenne and War Cloud starts to admire the bravery of the woman who he now believes will end the family curse. Still, he hesitates to tell her that he loves her, not just because she is white, but because he fears that if he is wrong about her the curse will devour his beloved. WAR CLOUD'S PASSION is a passionate Native American historical romance that centers on adhering to one's values so love can overcome any obstacles. The story line starts slowly as Karen Kay paints the background dilemmas affecting the intrepid Anna. However, once War Cloud enters the tale, the plot explodes into a fast-paced, passionate Americana romance that will provide much gratification to sub-genre readers. Harriet Klausner

Rating: Summary: Interesting western romance Review: In May 1869, Anna Wiley and a colleague are escorting a group of orphaned children west to place them in good homes. On board the train on which they are traveling through Kansas, Anna encounters a young Indian boy running from his captors. Thinking quickly, she hides the boy under her skirts. After a short while, the train is stopped by a band of Cheyenne Dog Soldiers. Everyone on the train is killed except Anna and the children, because the young boy, Lame Bird, pleads with his brother, War Cloud, for their safety, since Anna saved the boy's life. Anna and the children begin their journey across Indian country amidst the company of War Cloud and Lame Bird. The attraction between Anna and War Cloud is undeniable, though she has always thought of herself as plain and unattractive, and he has every reason to distrust whites. Due to an old family curse, War Cloud is reluctant to get involved with Anna because any woman he loved would be in mortal danger. Will their love be strong enough to overcome their differences and override the curse? Karen Kay has written a novel with an in depth look at the life of the Cheyenne in the 1860's. Though the plot seems slow at times, the romance between Anna and War Cloud is memorable and touching, and the element of the paranormal gives an interesting depth to this read.
Rating: Summary: Such A Wonderful Story!!! I Loved It!!! Review: Karen Kay has done it again - I have read every one of her books and have never been let down yet. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Native American romances.
