Summary: Very nicely done!
Review: This book actually brought a lump to my throat and tears to my eyes. Ms Osborne writes in a style that is both witty and emotional. Her characters are living breathing personalities that seam to jump off the page, and pull you into their world. Their frustrations become your frustrations, their pain your pain. I cried when fate bombarded Max with tragedy after tragedy, and smiled at Low Down's joy with life's simple pleasures. I felt like strangling that pampered stuck-up princess, and hugging the charming Sunshine.

The plot of the story was well thought out and nicely executed. There were many interesting twists and turns, and I can honestly say that I never expected the ending.

Summary: Maggie Osborne, an author with no equal
Review: This book gives you an unforgettable love story. Maggie's characters always have endearing charm but seldom lead conventional lives. She has truly outdid herself with this one. You will cry, sigh, and laugh but you will not put this book done until you reach the last page. My other regret in reading Maggie Osborne is that she writes a book a year. My favorite is The Promise of Jenny Jones, which I keep in my to be read pile for when I need a Maggie Osborne fix. Thank you, Maggie, for another keeper.

Summary: Had So Much Potential/Male Lead Ruined It
Review: This book had so much potential! I love the premise - forced marriages is one of my favorite plots. However, the forced marriage in this book was in doubt in my mind. I never saw the reason for it, which put this whole book on shaky ground for me. I also did not like the hero in this book. First, he unfairly blamed Louise for the marriage. Second, he never did anything great or wonderful to make Louise fall in love with him. Overall, he was rather boring and at times annoying. I never found myself cheering for the main characters to stay together. In the end I wish Louise had packed up her bags and found herself a real man. Another reason I really disliked this book was the villification of Philadelphia. She was a young woman who was wronged by the hero. Instead of letting that story lead to some poignant moments and difficult decisions, the author villified her. One bright note in the book is the main heroine Louise. She was strong and smart, and she learns to value herself. I always like books with strong heroines. Overall the book is not bad, but it is not great either.

Summary: A Wonderful Book! Read This One!
Review: This book is Maggie Osborne at the Top of Her Game! Members of Romance Writers of America get to nominate the books we most enjoy for our Favorite Books of the Year award, and Silver Linings is going to be my first nominee for 2000. Low Down is one of the best heroines to come along since Maggie's Jenny Jones. She's fully developed, real, and wonderful. I know it's a cliche, but I don't care--I couldn't put this sucker down! Today I was on the phone with my sister and as I started to tell you what a good book this was, she laughed. One of her friends had told her about the book just a few days earlier. If you want a book to cheer about, this is the one!

Summary: Silver Lining Shines.....
Review: This is the first (hopefully many more to follow)Maggie Osborne that I have read and it is truly wonderful. Her writing reminds me a bit of Lavyrle Spencer, in that she can really get your heart aching and put a real lump in your throat. At the same time she has moments that make you chuckle. Her characters are well drawn and her dialogue reflects the time period she writes about. A definite keeper, made to be read many times over. <Ree-views>

Summary: A BOOK TO BE TREASURED!
Review: This was a wonderful book. I loved Low Down Louise and Max and Livvy, Gilly, and all the rest - even Philadelphia, who provided such a terrific counterpoint to Louise. This is my favorite, so far, of Ms. Osborne's stories and the 4th one I have read. It truly is a heartwarming story with a great cast of characters.
